Quoted from maffewl:

Very much appreciate the interest!
I'm working through that now. With the "hooks" extending out on these, it makes it much more difficult to be efficient with material. Once I figure out the most efficient layout, that will reduce cost. At the moment, it's looking like a full set will be in the $20-ish range.

Ok, put me down for a set and let me know when you're ready to ship. Thx

Hello. I'm horrible at repairing pins, so excuse this stupid question.

I need to replace the receiver side opto on the electric chair. Do I need to remove Sparky to get that opto out? To me it would appear so, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a more straightforward way.

Thanks

Quoted from BMSPEED:

Had the same issue on mine. I was using ninja balls which magnetize quickly on this game. I swapped out to silver jets and also adjusted the white plunger that holds the balls in place inside the coffin by adding washers to lower it slightly (or at least that's how I think I lowered it, lol) It's been a month of games since and I haven't had any problems even on longer duration games.

I took the plunger assembly off and tried several things (washers in various places, etc) and nothing seemed to matter. I resleeved it (even though it felt perfectly smooth) and removed the washer. Rotated the solenoid on its side and reassembled... And it SEEMS fine. Tested several times with the glass off and then played a decent game where I hit all kinds of modes including casket MB under various conditions (all three balls in the casket as well as only one in the casket with the other two being virtual--following electric chair MB I believe). Didn't notice anything strange.

I'm pretty sure the balls I use are getting magnetized FAST which certainly isn't helping but it does seem at least functional now which is the important thing.

Not sure if it was the resleeve, or rotating the coil on its side, or maybe both...but early returns look good.

Met is one of the games premium balls which gets magnetized are not a good choice. Same with STTNG / Get regular Balls

I upgraded the sound package to Flipper fidelity 10inch sub option. Wow!

it rocks right... Even Better when you use pinbrowser and add songs you like or grab an already modified one from a good Pinbrowser editor .
Thank you Sparky //

Does anyone sell or know where you can get a wire helmet topper for Sparky? I haven't seen them for sale anywhere.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a final update on these as finnflash was kind enough to test fit/finish and send over a few sweet images.

If interested see Market ad below.

Thanks all!

Hi all,

I’m sure this might be answered in an earlier post. I’ve got a Metallica Pro last model run with less than 100 plays. When the ball ejects out of the snakes mouth it shoots the majority time to the far left outer lane, or the top of the left slingshot, or into the middle of the left slingshot. Shouldn’t the ball eject down to the bottom left flipper? If so, what has been done to correct us? I’ve looked over the Snake mechanism from the top to the bottom and can’t find any issues.

Thoughts, suggestions, help?

Thanks
Rob

Is the pick target on the left side of the ramp bent over towards the snake?

Check carefully as I found the ball would graze Tue left right post when exiting. Loosening the mech and adjusting may solve this else get some target foam and stick it in the inside of the scoop to force the ball more left when exiting. Both styles of adjustment are only slight, so it may take a few attempts yo get the desired result.

Here's a crap photo of mine but you cn see the target foam on the top rigjt of the snake and also the offending post behind the target.

Ball won’t come out to the left flipper. Goes directly into the left slingshot or left drain lane.

I can try the foam and see what happens.

Quick and easy to see if the ball is hitting the post etc. Or if you can video and replay it in slo mo to see what actually is happening

Is the Sparky helmet electrocution mod still available anywhere?

Quoted from Snailpin:

Hey guys I'm getting a Metallica Pro LED and I got some options to have mods installed before delivery, which one of the following would you recommend? Thanks!
1. Metallica Pro Coffin Insert (It adds 3 skulls to the coffin on the playfield, these are also lit from below)
2. Metallica Shooter Lane Protector
3. Metallica Sparky Anti Airball Plastic
4. Metallica Pinball Sparky Electrocution Helmet Mod (kinda expensive, like 50 bucks)
5. Metallica Pinball Snake Fangs Mod
6. Metallica Pinball Snake Mouth Decal
7. Coffin Pinball Mod

Hey everyone. Not looking to over-saturate the thread, but wanted to share something that I got pretty excited about yesterday. I made these while making a few plastic protectors for other club members. These are similar to my Deadpool "Throwing Star Washers". Posting here in case anyone is interested. Thanks all!

You’ve got something wrong under the playfield. That thing is way crooked. I’d raise it up and loosen the mounting hardware for it and align it up.

Unfortunately I don't believe so,,, they pop up from time to time on Ebay, pretty scarce... Mezel Mods had them for awhile, maybe shoot them an email, and you might get lucky and they'll have one laying around.. Good Luck.

Ok thank you. I could get some EL wire and make one myself (I have a nice 3D printer and can do the helmet piece easily) - I’m just not sure of the power source and voltage. Maybe I’ll do some experimenting.

It’s 12v, but you need an inverter to power the el wire. Not sure how this specific mod is wired, but you could potentially power it off the sparky spotlight flasher.

Ok, where can I find the 4 amp, slow blow 50 amp fuses for Metallica, fuse. What is a suitable replacement? I cant find these fuses anywhere like Lowes and Home depot

I’ve been looking for this mod for a while too. I’m with you, I have a 3D printer for the helmet but not sure how the EL wire would work. I’d love to hear if you get something that works.

Look for a local electronics store. Not a best buy, a smaller mom n pop type place. Auto parts may have some but not as likely. They usually have mostly fast blow.

Is this the correct fuse? I ordered all of the fuses that Metallica uses, but it doesn't say 50 amp?

Those aren't specialty fuses. Pretty common for pinball to be slow blow style. I would recommend getting an assortment to have on hand. Anyways, for the short term, you can throw in a 4amp normal fast fuse. Should work for a little bit anyways (and not be unsafe).

#18838 2 years ago

50 amp doesn't sound correct. I doubt you have a 50 amp outlet in your house even.

Pretty sure he meant 50v as he linked to 4 amp slow blow fuses.

#18840 2 years ago

The proper fuse is rated at 250V. So you need a 250V, 4A MDL (slow blow), 1-1/4" fuse.

#18841 2 years ago

Thanks for the help and clarification. Come to find out the smaller extra parts bag had a fuse in there! I looked before, but this time i pulled the bag out of the game. My guests are freaking loving this pin and are now considering HotWheels as their first pin!!

Recieved my plastic protectors and stars from maffewl today. Very quick shipping and more importantly, excellent quality. I think they look great. I put 2smd clear lens bulbs under them, might try to find a bit stronger light. Great job and thanks!!

The color choice for those seems very odd. I thought that color was just the prototype. Why have a plastic protector that blocks the light? Maybe I'm missing something.

I posted for people’s thoughts on color preference. Transparent purple was the consensus. (I don’t own a Met so I wasn’t sure what would look best).

That said, if interested, I can do pretty much any color including fluorescents but would need several orders to keep the same cost or to charge a bit more as one-offs eat up a good amount of material.

I still feel orange is the way to go, I would get another set if that color was available. It brightens up that area very much.
