Knock on wood..my MET pro has got to be well over 10k total plays.. code updates prevent actual number.. but regular maintenance, never had any major issues since new. Frikkin love this game!

If you knock on wood enough, it gets hammered flat!
I can’t believe how good my 2013 MET pro still looks. And I agree, the only issue I’ve had (since fixing the out of box QA problems) is that the middle drop target won’t reset correctly sometimes. I need to search this thread for the fix.

I have the same problem with the middle target sometime on my 2013 premium.

Same here. I have a set of the translucent drop targets I was thinking of trying out in the game. Maybe that is my excuse to sort out the issue.

Interested to see the playfield condition. Could you send some photos?

No dimples!
Here are some pics I just took of mine. Does anyone have a snake that still has both of its factory fangs? There weren’t many made, and I bet they’re all snaggle-toothed like mine.

I don’t know if the theory of the hammered-flat playfield is true, but my MET and POTC have virtually no dimples. I’m waiting for my Aerosmith to get there.
I just keep them waxed and play the hell out of them, that seems to make them happy.
Quoted from newpinbin:Hammered-flat playfield? I have not heard of this.
The theory is that once a game gets 10,000 dimples, they all blend together so the playfield looks un-dimpled. I happen to subscribe to this theory. I wish I had more pics of my MET when it was less than a year old. I can’t remember if it dimpled then or not.

My Met has lots of dimples. My JP has none. The wood seems different.

But wouldn't the dimples start all over again on the new level of flatness?

I never knew they did factory fangs on the snake. Must have been very few done that way.

Early pros. After that, they cut the existing fangs. I was a pre-order METLE owner, and they were cut. I was also a MET LED owner, and believe they were cut also.

The right fang only lasted a few months. Don’t know how the left one lasted 8 years.

My 2013 Premium Roadcase has also a lot of dimples,
but finally i am lucky with my PF.

Here’s the fix, I had to remind myself how easy it was. I just did the middle one the same as the front one here:

Looks like a turtle now
Yes, but Mezelmods was founded on the fangs, so no turtle. Mezelmods shipped two sets of fangs with initial orders, just in case the first ones broke. I had the first one in my METLE for 3 years with no breakage. I put the second set of fangs in my MET LED, and they were still good when I traded the game about 6 months ago.

That helps it stay up? I believe I am dealing more with an issue of the drop target resting a bit too far back so it only just grabs the ledge. So a bump elsewhere on the machine can drop it. I was thinking it may be the washer deal to push it forward more.

I have the Mezelmods fangs too, no issues.

That's the first time I saw powder coating and said "I want to do that too".
What's that color?

I felt the same way until I had mine powder coated too. Do it. You wont regret it.

I can’t explain why, but tightening the spring does help with drop targets that don’t want to stay up.

...and they’re still there!
Have any of you guys done a playfield swap on a Met? I got one of the crap playfields on my premium. It’s not too bad, but I have a spare playfield and sometimes wonder how much of a bear it would be to bite the bullet and do it. I can do basic repairs, maintenance, and rudimentary soldering but haven’t done anything too complex.
I never knew Metallica had drop targets. My monster edition is a plate and would have thought they do the same for a pro.

I have had to mess with the washers inside the mech to fix 3 games here. My LE and two pro units that we used to have. Changing the washers adjusts how far the target catches the lip to stay up. Different thickness washers change the location. It takes a little time to take the drop targets apart, but once you get the hang of it the job goes pretty quick.

We are talking about the grave marker inline drop targets. Perhaps you are thinking of the fuel target?

Sterns are easy to swap, compared to older games, since most of the major assemblies are on connectors. CSI took me about 25 hours. LOTR was a little longer for some reason. Just take twice as many pictures as you think you’ll need, at every stage of disassembly.
Quoted from Spelunk71:Thanks for the info. You’re helping me get the courage to give it a shot.
If you've never done a pf swap, here are some tips:
- Put the game in service position (up on the rails), and start taking off the parts that are easily accessible from the top without having to get under the pf (the more you can get off while the pf is in the game, the lighter/easier it will be to remove the pf from the game when needed).
- Use a notebook and number each part in the notebook as you take it off. Put the part(s) in a baggie or gallon ziplock and number that bag.
- Remove heavier assemblies before removing pf from game.
- Use a rotisserrie if you can (two would be ideal).
- If you're not doing an immediate swap of a part from old to new pf, work backwards in your notebook when putting things back on your new pf.
- Put the new pf back in the game when you get to the same point where you pulled the old one out (put it in while it's not too heavy/cumbersome).
Those are just some basic tips. Everyone has their own methods that work best for them.

King Diamond inspired? Looks great!!
Purchased the cemetery gate mod recently on my new pro knowing that it is most likely not compatible with the ultimate light show mod I have on mine. Still think it looks great unlit, but is there any workaround to get it to light up? Tried using the standard directions with alligator clips with no success. Any tips appreciated...

Make sure the clips are in the correct spot. Has to be center pin on one flasher and ground tab on the other. It won’t work any other way
Quoted from John-Floyd:Thank you - I will try it again today.
Here is a blown up picture for reference
F3FF5E2E-0C27-48C5-997C-FA4F9638B3CB (resized).jpegThank you - I just tried that exact way and it is still not working. It does say on the item description that it is not compatible with the ultimate light show mod, so it looks like I’m outta luck. I appreciate the tips - thanks again.
