Yep got a couple of those the coil sleeves and the spring washers all on order. I’ll let ya all know what I find when those get here

sooooo Booted my Metallica up last night. I haven't played it in 3-4 months or so. The audio was almost barely on. I opened the coin door and turned up the volume to 35 still not very loud. Went into settings and turned up music volume to 15, still not loud.... is there some audio amp thing that could fail? It is the metallica pro with LEDs.

That's so weird...my machine did the the exact same thing. Turned it on the day and it had no sound?!? Turned volume to 15 as well...will check other settings for sound as I didn't think of that
Disconnect and reconnect the audio connection in the top right of the head. I forget the label on the board for it. But the wires have white plastic boxes around them to help with interference. Just reaseting that connection has helped when i had the same problem.
I speculate that the extra weight of those white boxes make that connection flakey. Its been a while but i think i actually screwed a cup hook nto the roof of the head to support the weight of the wires to help. (I have wooden back box met pro)
Hope that helps
Rick

Thank you both! I'll check the head and re-plug wires etc and see if that helps. I bet I have a few wire loom hooks I could use as well. I'll post up an update, but I won't be back at the game until maybe Monday.
Just snapped a couple pics. Looks like it just says “audio” on the board. U can see the wire holder i screwed in and used a zip tie to hold the weight. Ignore the pinnovators board plugged in there now.

Jeez I can’t imagine the pins staying in nicely if that large magnet is hanging off
Quoted from northvibe:Jeez I can’t imagine the pins staying in nicely if that large magnet is hanging off
that's a ferrite, not a magnet (used to eliminate signal "noise"). surprisingly, it's not that heavy because I thought the exact same thing when I opened up the back box for the first time on mine
Quoted from Spiderpin:I'm no expert,
So everything on J1-P3 is not working. All three pop bumpers, right and left slings, right inlane return and out lane, left inlane retune and out lane, shooter lane and the troughs.
Sounds like $5.00 (TRANSISTORS) Q2. I'm at work and can't get to manual. I hade to replace one on my Stern POTC. Let me repeat myself, I'm no expert. Enjoy time with family and wait on experience people to chime in. Merry Christmas
You were right! Man, I've been trying to figure that out for weeks. Thanks!
Just finished up my cemetery mod that I made.
Has a clean look with no mounting screws.
I did this by removing the left nut and screwing on a threaded post. When I 3D printed I made it so is snug to the post.

Premium (clearcoat issues). Any idea how much it would cost to do a playfield swap on this game? Anyone know someone in my area who would do it?
Met is a keeper for me, so I’m thinking I’ll play the hell out of the current one for a few years and then do the swap. I’m ok doing basic repairs but I’m afraid I’ll f—- it up if I attempt anything as ambitious as a full playfield swap. Thanks for any info.
Not an easy job time wise. Personally if you can handle playing and looking at it the way it is, I'd leave it for as long as possible. I'm not that fussy as long as a game plays well. I'd only do the swap if selling the game or the issue effects game play or the issue grates on me. Also imo any swaps populated or unpopulated change the way your game plays. So if you're happy now, just keep the new pf as a spare
This may sound like a super silly question, but I cant seem to hit the mystery scoop with any sort of consistency whatsoever, its almost always pure luck. How do you guys approach this shot?

Very late off the left flipper. It’s not an easy shot for me, but makeable. I have a harder time with the piston target.
I use a different approach, I usually shoot for the right orbit and then let the ball dead bounce off my flippers and it goes right in.

Mine doesnt do that.

Especially when I need to make it and the adrenaline flowing.

Its a tough shot for sure but i tell ya one thing, nothing feels better than having a good CIU mode going and you hit that shot on the left to double your multiplier and then you instantly bang it into the mystery scoop and cash out for big points! Thats pure awesomeness there now.
I hear Sandman playing now and Metallica calling my name. Who-Dey because of you I got to go play some now. Happy New Year.

I would recommend for whom the bell tolls or sad but true personally.
the mystery scoop advice is MUCH appreciated. ill just keep practicing my shot from the left flipper. I used to be able to get it in via the orbit method out of a skill shot, but the moment i put titan rubber on changed that completely! the titan rubbers changed all shots for me, mostly in a good way, but i just cant hit the scoop. then again, i could never hit the scoop very much, so ill just keep at it.
this game just isnt getting old to me, love it.

It’s easier to hit when extra ball and ciu are not lit

yeah that tends to be a "luck" shot for me as well, haha. i think im just really bad at end of flipper shots, well, most shots im bad at, but especially those.
Quoted from Lermods:It’s easier to hit when extra ball and ciu are not lit
such a kick in the nuts draining ball 3 with both lights lit. haha
Quoted from jandrea95:this game just isnt getting old to me, love it.
Im not much of a fan of Metallicas music at all but this game is so good that i dont see any way that i could ever get rid of it. Its easily one of the greatest pinball machines ever made i think.
Quoted from jandrea95:the moment i put titan rubber on changed that completely
which is why I changed mine out to titan's right out of the box before game one was played
Quoted from Lermods:It’s easier to hit when extra ball and ciu are not lit
ain't that the truth!

I like the 1666.

So my metallica definitely uses the shorter plunger for the mystery scoop. 3.375 in length
Got my order from PBL and just shaved off a sliver of the end to make it the correct length.

I have to assume the shaker motor action and the bottom of the cabinent were the cause. Been having some double switch trigger issues, not sure if it's related but now I really need this cable.
This cable connects the Grinder LED extension board under the PF to the CPU board J14.

Quoted from drained:Having a tough time finding a replacement cable in the photo
It appears to be a standard RJ45 ethernet cable, AKA a standard network cable found everywhere. Standard RJ45 are straight through, no wires crossed, but less common are cross cables with a different pinout on each end. (you can google image search that) Are the wire colors in the same order on both ends?
The shaker motor didn't do that. It got pinched, maybe lowering the playfield, so make sure the new one is tied up safe.

Sadly it isn't 8pin RJ45, lots of them laying around. It is only a 6 pin connector appears to be a RJ12 connector. The cable is clearly a CAT5 cable, 2 of the 8 wires are not used and snipped off.
Push comes to shove I can build one by buying the connectors, etc.
Question for Metallica owners, is there any difference in the build quality between first run LE's and current runs of Metallica? I have played both and found the current one feels lighter and is much easier to nudge.
I know this could be due to set up, but other current Stern pins seem the same, current Lucy ACDC wobbles on it's legs and Iron Maiden feels cheap and light like an IKEA toy.
Le mets are probably all wooden back boxes
And new mets have been metal back boxes for a long while. So lighter
You may have played a vault iron man presumably with metal back box as well?
Quoted from embryon:Big thanks to hoby1 for the stl files. Here is my first attempt. I may tweak some things like size of archway.[quoted image]
Wait until you see my next compelted one. Ive been tweeking it for days with about a dozen prints.... Its 90mm X 130mm and centered perfectly.
Not looking to make a fortune just a little something to make it worth my effort, I may sell these in 2 different states.
15 bucks would get you the STL to print on your own.
35 shipped would be a kit containing the model and and mounting pin. You would have to paint and LED.
Not really interested in selling completed ones as I just don't have the time
Quoted from hoby1:. Ive been twerking
Ok ok hoby......too much informatiin!!
P.S. Sorry I had to do that, I couldn't resist.

Lol that's awesome. Sorry again lol. I've been working alot and I'm half slap happy and for some odd reason (cause I'm a child maybe?) I just had to do it. Please dont hate me.
There was your chance to get me back hoby when I said "I've been WORKING alot" lol. You blew a great opportunity buddy!

I thought about asking this question myself. It seems by luck and I have Titan rubber. You not the only one.

I think the mystery scoop is an easier shot than the little side shot on the left of the playfield where u get your multiplier up. I cant hit that for nothing seems like.
Quoted from Viggin900:I thought about asking this question myself. It seems by luck and I have Titan rubber. You not the only one.
my thoughts exactly! id blow this game up a lot more if I could hit that shot with any consistency.
(yes, i realize I just pointed out something groundbreaking, which is if i would make more shots and play better, id get higher scores)
