I haven't been playing much lately and starting to question the need for 11 pinball machines. I love it when someone, especially my kids, gets on the leader board. It forces me to play the game to wipe it out, and I always have a great time playing a game I would have otherwise not played. I wish i could get my kids to play more. They are pretty good players.

Look at that - Stern just released a software update . Too bad updating code wipes out high scores. Too bad, kid. lol

I so very much look forward to this day. I love competition and teaching competition to my sons.

I do love it.... I actually cleaned and waxed all of my games yesterday (it rained all day) and thought I was being slick. My son said " oh, yeah?? It's on!" And legitimately whooped me three games in a row. He still points out strategies on this game I can't even understand.
It really does make you pissed and proud at the same time

I can soooo relate!!! My 16 year old son has been handing me my butt at all 3 of our games lately! It started when I recently updated the code to our Metallica Pro. I was the GC on it before the update. Since the update, I haven't come close to touching his scores. He's all but erased me from the game! We also traded our TWD Pro and AC/DC Premium for AFMR and Jurassic Park Premium. He has made it his mission in life to beat my scores on all of our games. I find him down there all the time trying to up his scores. He's been trash talking me non-stop, too! Until I whipped him yesterday at JP. Put up the GC after beating his best score by 35 mil. He's not so loud right now...LOL. Thanksgiving break will be fun!!! I love that he enjoys playing pinball, but especially love that he likes to play with me. Good times!

Wish my teenage boys were more into playing. They used to play a little but very casual. Never really tried to figure out rules and such. It would be awesome to have some competition in the house. You guys are blessed. At least my pins will see some action this week from family coming over for Thanksgiving.

Installed the cemetary arch, tombstone gate and hammer LED mods on my LE and really dig them. Going to do ColorDMD, PinWoofer and a few other mods like snake mouth LED next. I played a game the other night and completed four CIU modes, but didn’t qualify the 5th and lost all progress. Sooo close to EOTL, maybe next time. This game is still incredible and bolted to the floor.

Nice work on the MODs. I wouldn't go as far as saying the game play is incredible. Fun yes.

That green at the bottom is odd IMO. Nice mods and what # LE do you have? I have 190.

Thanks. I never noticed the green, is that not original? I guess the first owner I bought it from must have swapped the bulbs, but I like it. It’s MOP LE #389/500. Probably the only game I’d keep if I got out of the hobby. Special to me in many ways. Lusted for one for years and finally found a mint example. PinWoofer system is being ordered this week, will put the Flipper Fidelity kit up for sale after I do the swap.

Right on man, you really have a nice LE and love seeing them. Mine is my first NIB, or any pin. I have been a huge Metallica fan and when i heard Met was coming out, the stars aligned and mine will never leave!! I guess i kept those 30 year old posters and picture discs for a reason!! Awesome job dude, its a great game!!

Same here, big fan since the late 80s and remember listening to And Justice for All about 1000 times in high school. Most prolific metal band of all time and I’ve seen them live a few times. That Nightmare before Christmas show at AT&T park in 2015 was something I’ll never forget, they are amazing. Your LE is sweet, they are definitely keepers. Now put an Iron Maiden next to it!

Can someone check their game and see if I have the graveyard marker connector plugged in the right way. It is the connector attached to the graveyard assembly. I can not get my drop down targets to register a hit no matter what I try to do. It is a Pro with LEDs.

Must be a difference because yours is a premium. Maybe someone with a pro can take a picture or someone can give me an idea why I cant get my targets to register.

Big thanks to many of you who posted recently. Went ahead and purchased all new titan rubbers (orange) and a pinwoofer system. Will post pics once installed. Just wanted to drop in and say thank you.

So that leads us to standard debugging of an opto. And the easiest spot to check first is fuses. So pop open the backbox, flip on the game, CLOSE THE DOOR, and look at the nice LEDs Stern provides. Are they all lit?

Just finished up my speaker mod. Made these with my printer. They have a red led at the power button and each speaker has 6 Smt leds and flashes with the corresponding ramp shot. I think they turned out fantastic

I like them but they do null out the nice light show on LE. No more varity of colors.

Spinny-vinny snake ramp mod but no custom sparky!?

I have been back and forth on getting sparky customized. It seems so permanent, like deciding on a tattoo! As a rangers fan, I was considering having him done up as a NJ devil.

I was thinking the same thing...... Only thing I want to stay neutral with the theme. No sports, bands, and stars. I like either a stripped or orange jail outfit.

That was if you ever sell its not buyer sensitive.

I'm surprised someone hasn't at least made a printable template so we can cut the Pro plastics. It's what has been holding me back from installing my spinners..

Yup, that’s what I need the premium/LE plastics for. I’m afraid to cut mine.

Have someone with a Premium make a template for you and cut them with a scroll saw. Very easy. Thats what I did.

I keep debating on selling my pro for a SW premium, but just can't seem to pull the trigger. Anybody sell Metallica and regret it? Anybody buy it a second time and upgrade to premium? Any thoughts compared to a sw premium? It's probably my most played pin, so I'm really on the fence.

Funny you ask, though not a premium, I bought a Metallica pro led from a friend yesterday. It’s the only game I’ve ever owned twice. Love the game. It was pretty much stock except for a color dmd and I’ve been busy modding it with undercab lights, led backbox and a bunch of other things. Ordering a shaker and mirrors for it tomorrow.

I seriously love the game and play it the most, but the family considers it the weakest theme in the house and if I want anything new, I have to sell. First world problems.

I’m the opposite, my 15 year old loves it, one of the reasons I bought it back.

I thought about shaking things up and trading it, but it’s my teenage daughter’s favorite game. She has told me several times it stays. She has spoken.

That's what's crazy. It's definitely my go to game more than anything else I own, but if I have to sell something the theme is the weakest in my family. Probably won't sell it, but I'm looking for a way to change it up some.

Couple quick questions if someone can help. The second will be a little more detailed.

But first...my second drop target is registering on random hits as well as when the first drops. Not all the time but maybe 75%. Thoughts?? Looked at the mech and the springs look good! Not stretched. Seems a similar amount of resistance between that and the other drops when I manually touch them.

Only thing is maybe the small triangle part which holds it in place over the mech is slightly back more?!? Creating an easier resistance maybe?

Second...and I really want feedback on this.

When looking to light the 3 inserts below any one spider insert I wonder how people's snake mouth/hammer block react specifically. Is all this driven by software?

When I select a spider...then hit Sparky it lights that insert. Same spider I then hit the hammer block and this lights Snake. IS THIS CORRECT? And it will light more than one snake insert?!? Same spider and then I hit the drops it will light that insert.

So really I'm asking about the hammer hit and if it is supposed to light multiple inserts?

There was a couple other, what seemed to be buggy things, but lets start here first.

Hitting the snake should light 3 snake inserts. The snake insert under the lit spider, and the snake inserts for the shot on either side of the lot spider.

Sounds like you are either hitting the snake and the hammer block together, or the snake switch is registering even though you just hit the hammer block. Maybe play around in switch test mode and throw a ball at the block and see if the snake jaw registers too?
