Success. There were actually 3 bent legs! I removed the chip, straightened the legs, reinstalled and it’s updating now. Really strange that I’ve never had a problem updating before and have never touched that boot chip. Thanks snakesnsparklers !

My wife played the first game with new code. She got 2 CIU modes and got her highest score yet with a 142 mil. I love that she can play the game with a better chance to get a high score now. I know most of these changes could have been achieved by changing the settings, but I hate straying from the factory settings. Excellent update.

That's the biggest change I've noticed so far and now extra ball is defaulted to 15 blown pistons rather than 10, so I think it is more work now that it is working correctly . I was hoping it would be easier to collect the extra ball there, alas, now you need to fire into the pop's even more, which is cool cause now I'm shooting the orbits more than before but the bounce back on the left orbit... even though I have the metal rod and I've adjusted the angle on it, annoys me even more now!
Another "undocumented" update I believe was the ramping of the volume... I just swapped out my tournament button for a DIY external volume mod and noticed that I had to push the volume button one-press-per-volume number, I couldn't just hold it down like on my TWD where holding down the volume button allows the sound to ramp up or down accordingly. After the update, it now ramps! Yeah!

Updated and briefly fiddled with some of the new features. I like some of the new ease of play and while the 1 hit cross makes more sense to guest, I can see this one being an easy multiball now. I cant play mine until my wire form is painted and by then I think my new rings will be here and I'll have to do that as well. I so excited they put this update out but of course it's the week where my game is out of commission.

There's probably a difficulty setting for this too, but I have not looked.

Lyman is the bomb dot com. I had an unreleased version of this code since last year, but he's added WAY more stuff even since then. He really conscientiously tries to make games he's worked on the best they can possibly be, and it's very much appreciated.

Doubtful, other than writing your high scores down and then manually importing them via Pinball Browser. I don't see it happening for settings so you would just want to write down what settings you changed and re-apply them. There are some new settings added in this update so some of the existing settings are moved to different numbers. The mystery scoop eject setting now has both time and power adjustments for example and may need some tweaking to act exactly like before.

The problem with high scores is that they aren't really accurate across versions due to rule changes.
I kinda like the scores resetting, gives novice players a chance to get on the board and feel good about themselves. In fact with thanksgiving coming up I should reset all my games.
I record my personal GC's here on pinside so I always have my own personal record.

Since I already have my met opened up I decided to cheat my way through some modes and get to end of the line.
The good news,
After achieving (not completing) End of the Line, the song is selectable from launch. I turn off the pin and disconnected power. I was worried it was a running reward. It stay as an option indefinitely.
The bad news,
ColorDMD WILL need a patch. Most animations and text are intact......until you reach end of the line. The text prompts aren't coloured, the scoring has weird colour issues and the animations have errors.
Other than a needed color dmd update, all seems well. Great update

Of colordmd needs an update it is expected that also Smartdmd needs an update. Sounds reasonable to me.

I also liked resetting my scores so my wife and kids have a shot at putting their names in the machine. I use iScored to record all of my and everyone else's personal high scores. If you any of you haven't tried it out yet, I recommend looking into it.

Wow, I love this update though. I got out of battery, and all of my arrows were lit red. It was strange, I could still lite a blinking arrow, but all others remained on. Any ideas?

It has just run its course. Not played much any more. Always been a huge Maiden fan! I still have room. I had a friend looking for one so helped him out. Still new enough if I do miss it I can find one.

Just installed the new code. I feel like it certainly makes End of the Line feel like more of a possibility. I'm enjoying how the grave marker default is now one less shot. Doesn't sound like much, but that multiball is now 20% easier. Also enjoying the new lighting effect with the hammer. I'm sure as I play more I'll discover more things to love, but that's my initial take after a few games on 1.80.

Yes, the side art reacting to the light is what makes the mod awesome. I love it.
This new code seems to hand out extra balls like crazy. I swear I had 4 or 5 extra balls on my final game last night. Default settings too. Ended with a score of 590 million.

It has made some of the extra balls more attainable for sure, mainly the Combo one being cut in half, blown Piston has increased to 15 by default I believe but now you can score 3 Blown Piston's in a single shot... the regular 10 shot to the coffin remains the low hanging fruit IMO. Not sure how you got the other two though.

I had the same observation. I think it's the coffin on auto giving them at 10, 30 and 60.
Its funny how a few tweaks and adjustments in code can make you feel like you have a brand new game again but thats exactly how it feels now. I love this game and im glad Lyman made it a little easier because it definitely needed that. Glad to have this game in my collection!

Not for me... I'm struggling to even get 50M now... My ball keeps draining down both the right and left outlanes; it's like the code opened them up wider than they already were or something. :/

Combo EB is still at 20. It was the champion score that dropped to 10.
The Blown Piston EB still seems nearly impossible on default settings. It takes a minimum of 5 fuel lane hits in addition to a lot of time spent in the pops. I changed the piston inserts to stay lit between balls and at least that feels obtainable.
The CUI mode completion sounds are great. You can hear the two new additions in the service menu -> game specific settings -> #56. Nice to have new snake callouts. What a great surprise code update. Made my KISS and GB super bummed though.
