Yesterday I finished the first part of pimping my Metallica.
Things I have done:
• Installed a ColorDMD display
• Stripped the playfield and cleaned it
• Installed new Super-bands rubbers (mostly orange and purple ones)
• Installed a playfield protector from Pinball Universe (man it is shiny ‘-)
• Installed the Snake mod, Snake fangs and Snake mouth decal
• Installed extended Sparky plastic
• Installed coffin skull decal
• Adjusted the drop targets and magnets height
• Installed Pile of skulls flipper bats (yellow)
• The game was already full led but I changed some colors (Sparky -> purple, Mystery hole ->blue, Fuel-> green, band members -> blue and the big progress inserts: Cross -> blue, Electric chair -> purple, Coffin -> red and Snake -> green). Here is a short video to get an impression
Things to do:
• Install metal diverter post
• Install Total Light Show
• Install Creeping Death Speaker panel
• Install Creeping Death blades
• Install Creeping Death UV lightning
• Install orange translucent apron
• Install new (small) speakers
• Connect active subwoofer to current subwoofer
This game is a blast to play and mod ‘-)

Nice list but you forgot my mod.
Quoted from Hdmike444:Who has the best prices on nib Met premium shipped?
KingPinGames has good prices

When I was shopping around for MET PRE a couple of months ago, I found Melisa at Cointaker offered me the best price. I ended up buying used though, so never got to test out their service, but from everything I've read here, they're awesome.
New to owning a met, and have a couple questions. I have a pro by the way. Im not the best player and am just starting to learn the rules well enough to get where i want to go. During crank it up, on any mode, do those hits count towards your next crank it up, or does it reset all items collected at the end of the round. And do the number of hits stay the same to get to each mode, or do they go up like collecting the picks. (Ive only even made it to the first round a handfull of times so far)
Thanks!
Hits during CIU do not count to the next Ciu. The number of hits needed for the next CIU does increase. The amount of starting hits needed and the amount of increase to the next one is adjustable in the menus.
Found sparky foot busted off today. I used gorilla super glue gel to put it back on. Anybody have any luck after fixing a broken foot and what glue was used if so?
Hey Kong, did you have the extended protector installed for him?
Ive read where a few others had this happen as well.
Just curious.
Hurry ups work like this
One shot will have red arrow lit/flashing. Lets assume none of the inserts for that shot are lit.
If you hit sparky the sparky/switch insert will light on that shot.
If you hit the snake the snake insert will light on that shot
If you hit the cross the cross insert will light on that shot.
Once you have all the inserts on a particular shot lit all the inserts for that shot will flash. Hit the shot and that starts the hurry up.
Collect the hurry up at the captive ball.
There are some nuances with this like:
Snake shots will light 3 inserts. one for the lit lane and one on either side of it.
Until the cross lane hurry up is collected, hits to the cross will move the red arrow to the cross shot and away from the lane that was lit before.
Quoted from Rickwh:Hurry ups work like this

That's only for a pro. If you're on a pre/le, the light flashes blue. (the red lights flash indicating which lanes to hit for a combo).
Another tip that I just figured out yesterday -- when you hold the left flipper in when you launch the ball, you'll notice one of the lanes will have all of the inserts flashing. If you hit that lane in a few seconds after launch, you light them all immediately and get a bigger bonus.

Yep i have a pro and dont have much exp with prem/le

Yeah, I only brought it up because it took me awhile to figure out why the red lanes kept changing.

Yeah, I have the extended sparky plastic. I tried a few games on it just now, and so far the foot held, but I'm not really confident it will last. Just curious if others that glued it back on have had any luck with it holding up.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:Someone else had their foot break off and Stern sent them a new sparky.
I put pictures a few pages back too. I got it NIB and got a replacement through my distributor. Definitely worth the question if it's under 12 months old...

I recently had to replace my playfield because of ghosting (thankful Stern stood behind it and sent me a new one). I had a custom painted Sparky I took off before sending the old playfield back. They sent a completely populated playfield...including an original Sparky (now I have an extra). The paint on the feet of the custom Sparky is beat up (not surprising), but what really concerned me was the amount of cracking of the old Sparky's feet. One was just about to crack in half. I reinforced them with glue, but don't know how long that will last. We need to brainstorm as to how to protect his feet from the metal ball. I think this will become a major problem as the Metallica machines age. I thought about clear bumpers or plastics around the feet, but haven't tries anything. Another thought is a Cliffy (not sure he's watching this) to protect his feet.

Wow. I never knew Stern would replace a playfield that is fully populated. Is this normal practice when there is a problem? I always thought if they sent a playfield it was unpopulated. I have no issues on mine, just curious.

If they replace the playfield, I think it's always populated. They have a hit and miss reputation, but I had nothing but a good experience. I had emailed Pat at Stern, prior to sending my old playfield back, that I was taking my custom Sparky off...he didn't respond...but I did it anyway. It was totally populated. I think Stern is starting to step up and make things right. Competition is good, and JJP, Spooky, CGC, etc. are all good for pinball. My recommend is, don't only email, but call Stern...the number on their web site, and you will get a better response. Also, don't be a demanding a$$hole. Honey attracts more bees than vinegar.
Is there any scoring difference between closing the opto switch (with the ball) before Sparky's feet and hitting the target between his feet?
Rob
I believe hitting the target acts as “more hits” to the opti. For example one hit to the target = 3 triggers of opto.

Correct
Rejoining the club.... Went pro this time. Where can I buy the rising cross (for pro) and the three white crosses by pops? Have trouble finding.... Thanks

Rising Cross usually is in stock at Marco. You'll need the Total Lightshow mod installed for the cross to rise though.
No idea about those white crosses, but I think it just clutters up the pop area and doesn't really make sense to have crosses there though.

Thanks. I actually found the crosses on pinball life but no luck with rising. Do you have a link by any chance? I have the Total light show mod....
I don't have a link, just recall someone else asked a short while ago and I thought they were told Marco has it.
Since you have the lightshow mod, add the sound caller kit and the spinners if you don't already have them.
Yeah great suggestion.... Just bought this morning. It's insane how these mods essentially make a pro a premium. No hammer to block view although there hammer into pf is cool. Just need to figure out easiest way to cut the plastic to accommodate. Don't have dremel.
If anyone knows where to buy rising cross lmk thanks. Prob last thing I need

for the lazy. it literally took me 5 secs to pull this up by searching "metallica" on marco's website

Haha lol. Nice
Sorry must have missed it. Probably because it's 300! Damn that is expensive for that. Prob hold off for now

They are sending my new populated playfield Monday and will have it Wednesday. It sure would have been nice to have it over thanksgiving break.

"Rent" a dremel from Walmart then return it when you're done.

I love my Dremel. Use it for all sorts of things!
Does anyone have a photo that shows how they ran the mezelmods cemetery arch wires to the thru hole in the playfield, the instructions are unclear?

My wires are kinda visible so im not the person to ask, but added question, when i put mine on i was putting it back together and i had to bend that plastic for it to sit right. Is that plastic supposed to be bent or did i reassemble wrong

I own a dremel kit.

I believe you need to remove the surrounding plastic and feed it underneath a bit off to the side.
Quoted from delt31:Just need to figure out easiest way to cut the plastic to accommodate. Don't have dremel.
I used a scroll saw to trim my plastics for the spinner install.
