Quoted from Fezmid:I've noticed that when I shoot the far left orbit, the ball flies up and then falls back down. If I don't hit it hard, it sometimes falls into the pops instead, but that's relatively rare. Is that normal behavior? It's kind of weird to me why the left orbit doesn't really do anything (unless going for combos, in which case it flies all the way around).
What's happening is the ball is bouncing off the plastic diverter post and coming back down the orbit. It's not supposed to do this. The ball is supposed to be diverted to the pops. The solution is to replace the plastic post with a slightly smaller diameter metal one. This will make the game play MUCH better. Check out this link for more details ...

Just hit a ramp and the orbit is now open , hit the orbit shot right after any ramp for super satisfying combo )
Quoted from Sk8terRIP:Just hit a ramp and the orbit is now open , hit the orbit shot right after any ramp for super satisfying combo )
Yeah, I get that -- but I was confused as to why hitting the left orbit before any other ramp just makes it fall out of the orbit again. With the link to the post that gweempose posted, it sounds like it's not supposed to do that - instead, the left orbit shot (with the post up) is supposed to fall into the pops?
Quoted from Fezmid:instead, the left orbit shot (with the post up) is supposed to fall into the pops?
Yes, when the diverter is up, either orbit shot should fall in to the pops. With the plastic diverter post it bounces off the post and comes back down the orbit, but it shouldn't.
It is easy to install the metal diverter post, and it will never bounce backwards down the orbit again.
Quoted from Neal_W:It is easy to install the metal diverter post, and it will never bounce backwards down the orbit again.
I wouldn't go that far as you will still have some bounce backs, but the metal diverter post has a much higher success rate of dropping into the pops.
I have a Met pro and was curious if anyone would be able to change three songs out on the latest code?
PM me if you would be able to.
New playfield in and hooked up. Unfortunately I need the switch harness adapter like northvibe and I removed the wires in the grey sheath that go from the playfield to the back of the speakers (surprised that’s all I messed up ). Gotta wait a few more days to play.

I installed the metal post last week and I haven't seen a difference really. A fast left orbit shot still bounces off the metal post and back down the orbit. Maybe I need to set my game steeper and that's something I'll check.
So, I did a dumb thing (see above) and cut wires to various spots on the playfield. The wires were sheathed in grey (red, white, green, black), and connect right behind the speakers. This grey sheathed group of wires then go into the speakers. Stern will get me wires to hook up, but does anyone know what they do? I went through the manual and couldn't figure it out. On the playfield, individual wires are soldered to flashers...this seems weird to me on why these would connect to the speakers.
Nevermind, I figured it out. This has nothing to do with stern...this is my speaker light mod. Now to figure out how to get another wire and connector.

Same here. If anyone has a file they can share with different Metallica songs let me know. Would like to change a few slower ones out....thanks.
I have Dream no more in place of The Unforgiven
And St Anger in place of Sad but true. They seem to work well. I have these on the pro code.
Quoted from PoMC:Maybe I need to set my game steeper and that's something I'll check.
I was just going to say that.
Quoted from MacLean:I really want to powder coat my MET premium in this 2-tone green, but need these custom laser cut rails to get me excited about the project.
Does anyone know someone locally (North America) who can make these custom rails? Thanks
Those look badass!
Doing some bad ass powdercoat on my newly aquired Met premium. It changes color as the light hits it. If you guys are interested hit me up. I did that green posted above as well
Quoted from Dee-Bow:$2000 extra for a rising cross and a coffin ball lock feature (deadly mods available for that tho) seems a bit high. You could buy an F-14 tomcat with that money! I say stick with the pro & spend the money on a nice playing SS.
You missed a bunch of features:
Rising Cross
Moving snake jaw that closes and holds the ball during multiball
Red White Blue colored GI
Hammer smashing the ball into the playfield - physical lock
RGB spider inserts
1 piece fuel target
Playfield slide rails
Spinners which now have a unique scoring rule as of the latest code release
I think the extras are certainly worth it. Although, I bought my Met Premium back in 2013 for $7800 Cdn delivered... Times have changed since then...

I had the same result after changing the post to metal. I think I am slightly steeper than I should be, but the game plays so well it doesn't bother me enough to level it again.

Quoted from Robertstone0407:Whats the best speakers to put in your met
Honestly, I just bought the 10" Polk sub. Set it up using alligator clips and left the stock speakers in the game. It sounds amazing.
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Whats the best speakers to put in your met
I had my game for a year with stock speakers. Just installed flipper fidelity and it sounds great!
Quoted from Monk:Honestly, I just bought the 10" Polk sub. Set it up using alligator clips and left the stock speakers in the game. It sounds amazing.
I just got that same sub today. What all settings did you set sub at? Not sure I have mine adjusted great
Quoted from Robertstone0407:Anyone got a set of metallica laser cut side rails for sale?
Yes there'll be shipping, but it won't come to over the $300 for the ebay set
Quoted from konghusker:I just got that same sub today. What all settings did you set sub at? Not sure I have mine adjusted great
I didn't change much. I think the bass volume for the sub is just over halfway. I did change the music volume in the game settings, but only by one or two spots. Nothing drastic. When adjusting my sub the biggest thing to me was to hear the bass, but not wash out the music with to much bass.
Quoted from Monk:but not wash out the music with to much bass.
Is that even possible on this game?!
Rob
Seems like the bass is pretty overwhelming most of the time. I turned it down and it's better, but I'm still unsure if I like it.
Quoted from Robertstone0407:What all needs to be done to add a shaker motor
I had my distributor order the SAM shaker for me and then he came over and installed it. Took him less than 20 minutes. I 100% could have done it myself but he asked if I wanted a shaker when I bought the machine and I said “sure”!! Lol. Super easy. Literally just plug and play.
Quoted from Robertstone0407:What all needs to be done to add a shaker motor
Very easy. I got the one from Pinball Life, it comes with instructions/pictures. All you need is basic tools and locktite.
Does anyone know if there is a back box decal that mimics the new stern back box for the older Metallica‘s
Quoted from Hdmike444:Does anyone know if there is a back box decal that mimics the new stern back box for the older Metallica‘s
Are you referring to the speaker grill decal? If so I wonder if you could get a new version, “line it up” and carefully cut a nice line around the speakers. Kind of like window tint guys do with the razor blade.
Edit: that probably wouldn’t turn out too good and it’s too “in your face” to be anything but perfect.
Got the harness adapter. All hooked up and game plays perfect. No adjustments needed. I’ve added a few of my mods, but have a lot more to add. Thanks to Pat, Chas, Stern, and Steve from Pinball Refinery. This was way above my head, but was able to do it with your help. Stern stood behind my pin and made all right at their expense, can’t expect more. Also thanks to those on pinside that helped me...this is what pinside is all about.

Just make sure it's the blue medium strength Loctite. Not the red stuff.
Quoted from Indusguys:Best thing you can do to this game is paint Sparky, also need to replace the instructions cards.
I have a custom painted Sparky to put in, but I'd love some cool instruction cards. Any idea where I can get them, or better yet, print them out. I printed out some from a pinsider for my SW and they look great.

I bought this one in green for mine. - don't know why they don't have a picture of it.

I had a green one with a spider web design. It broke in half very quickly.
I'm using the clear protector now and no issues with it.

Without a picture, is this an extended one, or just a replacement for the factory stock one(same size). I bought mine from a pinsider, and it's been great, but cracked finally.
