Holy shit man you got some bad luck. It's gotta be those Minnesota forklift drivers
At least they keep replacing it with no $ out of your pocket. But still stressful. Sorry to hear. Hope you get a Metallica someday

fixed and sold at auctions I would imagine. Beyond repair, I'd say spare parts machine!

got it, thanks man

#1108 5 years ago

Wow what bad luck. At least everything seems to be replaced with little hassle. Still sucks. But metallica will make you forget as soon as you finally get one thats right.

I took the cross out. The led flasher was one just like the ones for sparky. It was rattling around in there. Plugged the bulb in the socket and it worked fine.

On my cross its basically just a spotlight base shoved up in the cross. But there is a metal post at the bottom that goes through the screw hole of the spot base. That prevented me from pulling the bulb out.

Quick and easy.

Fixed my imdarras snake that had a short in its right eye. Took snake apart, and the wires were crimped and had worn through at the back of the head near where they were hot glued. I thing they were pinched between the snake head and the scoop. So after months of play they wore through.

I soldered them back together and put two layers of shrink wrap tube around it. I also took a small sanding drum hooked to my dads drill press and ground down the side of the snakes head some so that maybe it wouldnt pinch the wires.

That fix was a more involved fix. Soldering iron, heat gun, hot glue gun. But its all back in business now.

Sometimes working on pins is as fun as playing.

Before fix with wire broken/worn where it rubs snake head:

After fix soldered wires and double layer of shrink wrap:

Its my Metallica premium's bday today.
I only owned it since July, bought it new from Gio at pinball refinery.
He said he received quite a few metallicas built from Aug. 2013

Nah...he's just to picky. Major bummer.

#1113 5 years ago
Quoted from Ballsofsteel:

strange, I didnt' have to take my cross out, just pulled the flasher led from the bottom of it.

without forcing ?
first tried with mine, but the steel "S" base of the lamp socket would not came out the plot which maintain it in place...

i suppose it was inteded to get it out easily as it, but i think to myself : "stop it or you'll break it"
i finally prefer to spend 5 minutes while removing the screws...

Um...if someone gets a chance, and has their game open today... do me a favor and measure the "balls" on the lighting towers on the back panel. Just need to know the diameter of them. If nobody has their game open up today, I'll just do it tonight.

#1117 5 years ago
Quoted from Rickwh:

I dunno how well these came out... but basically the whole way up I have about 1/16 inch extra space between the rails and the ball. I used a rag to keep the ball in the tightest spots to get a pic.

Mine definitely has less room, but it's not completely tight either. I pushed the lane guide back a bit so I'll see if that cures it.

Well, finally was able to get a few pics and modify the Cemetery Gate to a height that doesn't block the view of the cross as it rises. Well not for someone who's 5'10" anyway, I'll have to have my girlfriend who's 5'2" play and see though.
Tim's height is perfect if you don't have the Pinball Refinery lightning, but since I love that and I love the Cemetery Gate, this seemed like the best option. I personally don't find it to be too "stubby", but I suppose opinions may vary.

Oh and I love this game in general, it's a lot of fun although my high score is only 150mil or so and all the PR mods look great and really add to the game IMO. The Creeping Death Side Panels are thankfully a really good quality, because the clearance is so tight, I wasn't careful twice and knicked them up on both sides. The art wasn't damaged but the clear overlay was scraped up a bit. Better that than the art.

Now if I could just figure out why my phone won't send texts or emails so I wouldn't have to attach it directly to the computer to pull pictures off of it, I'd be set.

If I remember I had to bend the bulb bracket down a little from inside the cross, then pull out the led...or something like that. I know you can do it, I've done it. but you can also just remove the cross

Where's the best place to get a monster translite? I'm not really digging my stock pro one...

Only way I know is to buy a premium game. You may want to check with some distributors.

Ebay. There have been a few on there recently. Prices have come down a bit, but they still seem to fetch in the $150-200 range.

#1123 5 years ago

Anyone else with pinpac noticed that if you adjust volume during sparky mode that it basically skips the shaking and goes right into multi-ball? Discovered by accident and then confirmed it a few times. Not sure why adjusting the volume would affect this?

I'm a big Giants fan (I'm from San Francisco) and my wife bought me this for my birthday yesterday:

metallica-giants.jpg

She also got me the Giants/Metallica guitar pick set, going to try and find a place to stick them on my LE. Each one has a drawing of a band member in a SF jersey.

#1125 5 years ago

Haha that's awesome!

#1126 5 years ago

Damn they got much better stuff than the Dodgers. I might switch.

#1127 5 years ago

I traded a t2 and cash for a met pro 1 day before i went on vacation. Awesome game. Can't wait to play and mod it. LEDs will be first. What should i do next?

Just had a pretty good game on my METLE, 211 million, which for me is kicking ass. Didn't even do that well on my second CUI, which I had stacked with Seek and Destroy, so I know I can top it. I still love the hell out of this game!

I bought the MDM for Metallica from Sparky. Anyone on the fence, its an excellent mod for your metallica machine.

So found something cool about Metallica this weekend...
...The Thing that should not be ROCKS! For pinball music
And it perfectly replaces ride the lightning time wise. Exact same time length. Don't know what it is but I really don't like ride the lightning in this pin and I love that song gotta love pinball browser

#1133 5 years ago

Ill be getting the MDM for sure when I get home, and I love the ideas for different songs. I was glad Blackened got it, but Ride the lightning is a def. replacement song for me...

#1134 5 years ago

Frayed ends of sanity is another awesome pin playing song. I replaced ONE with it but I really miss ONEs tempo an direction in lady justice mode. So I'll probably put Frayed in place of Unforgiven.

you'll like it. When your not playing, and its in attract mode, hit the right flipper button and hold it there for the jukebox mode select song, and watch the MDM. Its like watching a music video! Non pinball people gather and check it out, it draws them in, they wanna see more.

I'm coming to learn that Metallica is a very good game...

Wondering -- is there a way to turn down the music, and just hear the sound effects/callouts?

There is no good reason to do that, but yes, there are separate volume settings in the menu.

I know its personal preference, but it seems part of the enjoyment of the game is the integrated music/theme? I played my buddies on route and its mixed in with other pins, arcade games pool tables etc so the music was just at a normal level. It is in no way the same experience as playing my HUO game.

#1140 5 years ago

He just wants to hear the call outs, I'm sure he'll turn the music back up when he's done. Quit raggin on the guy.

Maybe bring some ear plugs because I will not be turning the music down.
