The Snake Mod²
How are they lighted? Awesome mod!
I think it should be the snake mod^3 because the snake mod was the plastic and decal, the snake mod mod was the 3D printed pieces and the snake mod mod mod is what you're doing!
I just sent payment for a PRO! Will finally become a member very soon
Can you guys please tell me the must have mods (specially to protect the playfield) I must get before I play the first game? Thanks!

Any particular vendor you recommend?

My Leg Light-Ups are cool. I don't have a picture of purple on MET sorry.
Quoted from snakesnsparklers:cliffy is the vendor

They are VERY cool indeed! I'll PM you when I get Met

OK, if you don't want purple I have other colors too.
I perfer mylar around the sparky magnet as the cliffy makes ball jump some and definitely effects the ball movement. Also nothing is needed for the graveyard magnet imo as its rarely used and definitely dont have much action. Definitely get 2 ball drop slot protectors and shooter lane ones.... also the tz gumball protector for the drain area as it gets alot of fast drains from the sparky magnet. My favorite mods for met pro are total light show, color dmd, powered subwoofer, shaker, pdi glass. Extended sparky plastic. There are many others i have but they are the big ones imo.
Quoted from MustangPaul:$85 delivered. Lots more details and I don't want to plug up the thread so PM me.

So mylar for magnets better than cliffy's?
What's the deal with the extended sparky shield? Do you get lots of airballs there?

The Snake Mod²
Looks perfect now! How did you do it?
Thought I would post this here as well....trying to create a resource thread for customizing Sparkys. Had some questions

My met has alot of plays and i had mylar down from beginning and its been fine. I just dont think the cliffy is needed there from my experience. Yes the extended sparky protector helps with the magnet /playfield takeing a beating and just helps gameplay.
Quoted from NightTrain:Mylar on sparky magnet for sure. No Clift.
I will do as advised. Actively looking for extended sparky plastic now
Will install cliffy's as well. I hope installation is not too difficult that it ruins my First NIB experience....
Could someone post a pic of what the pinbits extended sparky protector looks like installed. I purchased a met pro with wood backbox, only 39 plays on it. Everything looks perfect on it. I want to try and keep it that way. I ordered a full cliffy set and am wondering also about mylar on the sparky magnet vs carbon cliffy. There is a clear plastic piece coming out from sparky legs but I don't know if that comes from the factory or if it's a mod?

Do you mean the stock Stern protectors?

Heres a pic of my extended sparky protector plastic (i have 3 left in stock for $6, pm me) and the template i used for the mylar i cut out and applied around the magnet area. (I cut a hole in mylar for magnet not shown).

Oh wow that's nice, goes all the way up with mylar. What is the easiest way to cut the hole?
Quoted from pcprogrammer:Oh wow that's nice, goes all the way up with mylar. What is the easiest way to cut the hole?
its hard cause the mylar i have has a white backing and there is some wiggle room for placing the mylar sticker. I didn't want the hole to not line up. So i cut out the circle after applying the mylar down. I think i just very carefully used an exacto knife to cut it. you certainly don't want to mess up the playfield. so be very very careful.
Quoted from pcprogrammer:Here is mine. The plastic seems shorter?
That is the factory plastic and the one I chose to stick with. Well over a thousand games on mine and no problems in that area other than a little paint worn off of Sparky's shoes, which I think would happen even with the extended protector.

yep my shoes have some scuffed paint too.
I should clarify that the sparky plastic i make protects from airballs that happen after the ball hits sparky and flys off all over the place. The extended plastic keeps the airballs down on the playfield. So you really aren't protecting sparky as much as the potential damage from repeated airballs. I would get some pretty nasty dents in my magnet cause the ball would get sucked down out of the air by the magnet after hitting sparky sometimes. That is kept to a minimum now.

So you sell one different from the one on pinbits site?
Quoted from pcprogrammer:So you sell one different from the one on pinbits site?
i think they are pretty much the same. but I only do clear and there is no etching or designs etc. Just flat clear plastic. (See post #9229 above for a pic of mine).
So where is everyone buying their balls from lately. I looked on pinball life and didn't see those shiny ones listed anywhere? I wanted to make sure I bought a set that could not get magnetized.

I've had both Cliffy and Mantis for the Mystery Hole. I prefer the Mantis version. (https://mantispinball.com/product/metallica-protector/)
We were playing a game tonight and the ball got stuck on the magnet under the hammer. The hammer did not go down on it and the device eventually lowered and came back up while still holding the ball. The ball drained and the machine would not spit out another ball.
Now the diagnostics say that the snake jaw is unable to open or close. You can start a game but no balls will eject.
I have no idea what is going on. It also seems that the snake jaw is not registering a hit during a switch test. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Sounds like a blown fuse. Remove the translite and with the front door closed power on and look at the fuses. There will probably be at least one that doesn't have it's LED indicator light on.

It was a blown fuse alright. Thank you! I was scared it was something more serious. My first soldering job ever was to a switch on the snake and I thought it came back to haunt me. Looks like I need a 7A/250V fuse. Are these special or can I buy them anywhere?

They disapear when they are out of stock at Pinball Life. You may want to email them and find out when the next batch is due in.

I highly recomend Cliffy's for
1 Ball Through
2 Shooter Lane kit
3 Myster Scopp
I prefer the cut it your self static cling vinyl for sparky and hammer magnet. It can be removed at anytime with no downside. If you do choose to do the Cliffy for the magnet, make sure its level. This is a good idea no matter what you do there, and replace or recheck once your magnet turns into a mushroom as they all do over time. Magnets that aren't level, wreck playfield, games that don't have Cliffy's will chip in shooter lane/ball through and have beat in wood around mystery scoop. This includes HUO, just the way things are.

How about the cliffy aroud the snake and captive ball? Is that one really "necessary"? Who sells it?
Thanks!
