Quoted from LOTR_breath:Oh snap. They are closed until 7/18/16.
Wouldn't make a difference as that's Monday
Quoted from Strummy:I bought a set of Hooked's cool Metallica bumper caps. They look great but I wanted a bit more light so I modified them a bit myself. Any opinions?
What did ya do?
I have those same hooked caps. I love em and they are Awesome looking! Looks like to me that he added light below the tops of them. What did you do to do that? Led strip around the underside of the caps?

A wider angle pic would help.

Yeai have these also....very well made and look 100 time's better than stock
Quoted from MustangPaul:What did ya do?
I bought some of Hooked's led pads that are used for the IM caps so I would have something wicked bright in there. Then I bought some of Titan's glow rings and some slightly longer screws. I broke the top off of 3 leds and attached them to the bumper caps. I placed the ring on top of the bumper housing and I packed the 2 areas where light could escape with packing material. Then I just screwed the cap on top.
A clear ring with a dark purple would look cool too but I don't know where to get a bright enough purple led.

Hmmmm, I'd have to see pictures. VERY creative.

Oh I bet they had to twist your arm REAL hard.

That's a really cool drawing! Those guys piloting the ship remind me of the two coked out dudes from Heavy Metal.
I finally got around to replacing the large insert LED's on my MET Premium. I used the Cointaker SPIKE led boards (http://cointaker.com/products/stern-spike-led). I colour coded them as follows:
Red - Coffin
Blue - Cross
Purple - Sparky
Green - Snake
Oh, and did anyone ever add the extra sparky flashers where there's holes?
Is this the part where I anonymously stand up and introduce myself ?
Been waiting for 3 years to join this club. This machine is the most fun I've ever had on a pin. Like Eddie Money, I think I'm in love.
Quoted from Gryszzz:Just wondering, did the earlier (2013) Premiums come with a plain black speaker panel ?
Yes. The original runs had the wooden back box and plain black speaker panel. The later runs have the new style speaker panel.
Just been bashing balls all week, no strategy really ; just trying to figure out shots and jammin. Anybody gotta link for a ruleset ? So is the soft plunge rollover drop in the most awarded skill shot ? Violent Steves nose bone is ridin on this question.

Thank you. I figured that, but wanted to make sure.
By most awarded I mean highest scoring skill shot off 1st plunge. Isn't left orbit most bank ? I can smell his nose bleeding.
Hold left flipper in and full plunge. Look for the one and only shot that is flashing all the inserts. That is the most valuable skillshot by far. Not in points, but in getting you a head start towards Crank It Up. In competition mode it always starts on the left orbit. In normal play, it is a random shot.
Next dumb question : only when I added MET did I notice a difference in height. I feel like Im missing something glaringly obvious here, but how are my front legs raised up on MET, yet it's still lower than my other 28.5" legs ? JP not included, of course, 28.5 legs on that beast too.

I have JP so I did a quick look and if you look at the position of the holes for the legs on Metallica they are higher up on the cabinet....The holes on JP are lower so the game is higher

There are plenty of tutorials but no links handy. PAPA Has a decent tutorial video that covers the basics. The new code has a couple changes so I am sure someone will update the thread with the rules someone started. Essentially you want to collect all the items to get to CIU....you have to complete all the CIU mode to get to EOL. It is also helpful to stack multiballs or have them ready to start....I go for coffin first....I usually get some snake shots, Sparky hits and have those ready to go. If I can get coffin going I am usually set up well for cross multiball or snake. Biggest help is nailing the pick targets in multiball so you can get add a ball. The orbits and ramps are important as you learn to progress to CIU modes. Some people go for sparky first but I don't like that because you can't stack multiballs in that mode. So many ways to play this game it never gets old for me.
I am sure others on here will share some rules/tips as well especially with the new code. I hear there is small bug that is gonna be fixed and another update should happen.....but who knows when that will happen.

If you REALLY want to FEEL the game put a 12inch 300 watt powered sub under it. I have the DK Pinball sub connector on the game and I know it makes a big difference. Who needs a shaker.
Quoted from Pickle:I have JP so I did a quick look and if you look at the position of the holes for the legs on Metallica they are higher up on the cabinet....The holes on JP are lower so the game is higher
Yes the legs are mounted higher. They have been creeping up for quite a few years. I think they want you to get more of a top down view so you can see the back of the pf cuz more then ever things you need to know is back there. Don't quote me on that though.
Quoted from Gryszzz:Been diggin those leg lights Paul. Need those and shooter rod in purple. Speakers 1st buddy.
Thanks man. I don't see them lit though.
Quoted from Gryszzz:I need it LOUDER !!!
Well buy a small 12v power amp/eq and wire it in. 30 or 40 watts and those bb speakers may need to be replaced too. Won't sound as good as a cd but will still kick some ass ESPECIALLY with a BIG friggin 12inch sub.
Quoted from Gryszzz:Took my Polk sub from the Mustang and although it sounds great on Mustang (better Stern speakers in 2014 ?), not loud enough on MET. Need speaker upgrade immediately.
Save your money. The sound (music) quality on MET is not that great to begin with. Most are happy with the polk sub and that is the best solution there is.
Rob
Well that's a piss poor attitude Rob and I will not settle for a sub-par sound system in my crown jewel.
Quoted from Gryszzz:This is an A+ game and it deserves an A++ sound system. I probably misread you brough.
What I mean to say is, the sound quality will probably not be any better if you change the speakers. If you search threads, maybe even this one, you will find some more info on that. The sub is really the best option. I'm just saying spending money on speakers will probably not give you the results you want.

It's not up to date, but I'm sure you will find this helpful ...
It's the best of its era and ought to be in the conversation of all time great pins.
This table is that influential.
Gotta love pinball, Play on !!

New speakers will help - the stock speakers are utter garbage. A good set of coaxials will improve the sound, but for best sound, put a pair of amp/EQs in there along with new speakers.
