Looks like LesManley has a thread going for this event. We can default to that on now.

Congrats John. Though, I wish you wouldn't have posted MY performance!

#17 10 years ago

I got there late and only got to play my qualifying 2 games. I had not ever played the game beforehand at all. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. This was my first time seeing or playing the game.

For a PRO, the game is awesome !!!!!!!!
Really the nicest looking game to come out of Stern.

The Borg, Lyman, Donny team really have a smash hit here.
Galvez nailed it on the DOTS as well !

Tony, thank you for coming! It was cool to see some new faces at the event. Don't let this be your last event, you will be finishing higher up the charts in the no time. Hope to see you again soon!

I'm curious what the scores were. At least what John racked up.

Scores were all over the board. People played 2 games (1 on each Metallica) and took their highest score for qualifying. Top 16 scores moved on to the playoffs. Highest qualifying score by anyone was 131 million. My top score for qualifying was 48 miliion and change which put me at 9th. In the playoffs it was groups of 4 and the top 2 in each group moved on until the finals, so you didn't need the highest score, just to be in the top two until the finals. The first round of the playoffs I put up 168 million, the semi-finals I put up 35 million and in the finals I had a really good game and put up 190 million.

Nice scores Les. I still haven't cracked 170mil!

#23 10 years ago

Nice!

#24 10 years ago

I was the lucky winner of the Metallica translite.

Yeah, I was waiting for him to make a comeback in the finals. He was joking with me about having it locked up when I had 150 million on ball 2, but I know better than that. I didn't feel comfortable until the last guy drained his ball.

Bets Ive done at home is 70 mil. What strategy are you guys using? Outlanes fully open and factory settings?

#32 10 years ago

The best strategy seems to be to keep going for coffin locks during other multiballs. Once you get coffin started, it's easier to get additional multiballs stacked. I was even able to start coffin multiball during Electric Chair multiball. High score so far is 188mil.

#33 10 years ago

Excellent.

#34 10 years ago

Still set to 2 completions of picks for a lock?

This was tournament settings so no EB, but otherwise it was the same except it was 3 pick completions for a lock. What worked for me is shooting Sparky alot. It is a safe shot and in between Sparky shots, you will get grave and snake shots too. Getting Coffin stacked with other multiballs and/or FUEL is key to a high score too.
