I personally found LOTR to be a bit of a chore... the modes are plenty, the rules are deep, and while I've never bee that great at the game, it still feels like I'm venturing down down the same path, which doesn't make sense... or does it?

On the other hand Metallica has so many simultaneous goals it does not feel like a chore to me at all.
