Metallica updated code version 1.16 is now up on Stern's website for LE/Premium and Pro:

Here's what the 'read me' file says:

V1.16 - June 28, 2013

- Snake jaw no longer tries to re-fire during test if the device fails
to satisfy a request to get open/closed.
- Snake jaw hit was not lighting the snake icons on the playfield. This
has been corrected.
- Updated the mechanical snake to be in the correct state for the new
snake lock rule. The jaw is open when the lock is lit and closed when
the ball is locked or the lock is not available.
- Fixed a problem with the lamp effect for the combos that was causing
the lamps to be obscured.
- Added free play check to attract mode radio.
- Added snake lock feature. This is available during any multiball.
Completing the guitar pick targets during multiball lights the snake
for a timed ball lock. Shooting the snake the first time locks the
ball and awards add-a-ball. While the ball is locked, all playfield
scores are 2X. Completing the guitar pick targets again while the
ball is locked in the snake will reset the timer. Once the timer
expires, the ball is released from the lock and playfield scores go
back to 1X. The ball can be re-locked for 2X playfield scores by
completing the guitar pick targets and shooting the snake, but an
additional ball will not be put into play.
- Added coffin force field sound. Added art to coffin multiball super
jackpot display effect. Added coffin speech.
- Added attract mode flipper button speech.
- Added speech for coffin hurry-up.
- Added art for total screens (sparky multiball, fuel, metallica/justice,
snake, coffin, etc.)
- Added speech to the shoot again display effect.
- Added sounds for seek and destroy, ticket (redemption) award, coffin
hurry-up, cross super jackpot, coffin multiball, extra ball, and special.
- Added speech to "player up" effect.
- Lighting items (cross, snake, electric chair) will not light items for
shots that have already been completed (hurry-up collected). Lighting
neighboring (unlit) items (the snake is the only one who uses this) has
been changed to not spread out so much (it no longer skips over items
that are already lit, rather, it increases the count for those that are
already lit). Once a shot has been completed (hurry-up collected), the
number of items that are lit (available) is always 1. No matter how
high an item count (cross, snake, electric chair) is built up, shooting
the shot will only ever award one of each lit item (only the points
awarded and the starting hurry-up value are affected).
- Added effects for special lit and special.
- Added electric chair progress lamps. Fixed up electric chair progress
lamps in the explode/sweep lamp strings (#3 was missing).
- Added ticket (redemption) animation.

Don't see anything about the coffin lock issues , hopefully that's better.

MMMMmmmm...snack lock.

Yeah, that does sound cool. I figured there would be a Mystery scoop Add-a-Ball...but this unique use of the Snake for an Add-a-Ball works too!

Yea, that Snake Lock setup is sick. Add a ball build to 2x pf! Targets are now overloaded and do a ton more. Metallica is on track to take over as my number one pin from Stern here very quickly.

Look like we will have to wait a long time for the codes to be done!

Still no member mode,crank it up mode or end of the line mode!

No hammer and magnet fix!

Add a ball was too easy on AVE. Cool that they found an awesome way to add it. Mystery is way too easy a shot on MET.

The snake has got to be hating life right about now. He's about to get hammered even more. Broken fangs will be flying faster than Mick on a stick!

Is the ball now supposed to stay in the snake when we hit it during multiball? I had a ball stay in there for a long time when I was on electric chair multiball? I actually ended up jamming two in there somehow. Fortunately they both kicked out when I lost the 3rd ball. Anyone else see this yet?

Jaw goes up on Prem/LE

Is this snake rule in on the Pro too? I imagine it wouldn't work well on the Pro...Pro should prob just have a Mystery scoop Add-a-Ball.

You mean the software release numbering convention? If you closely study software releases over the years at Stern (which I've done extensively), they don't work out. Ever. Could finish at 2.0, could finish at 3.1415. Your guess is as good as any.

Guess it would help if I'd read the read me file first and not just jump into the new code. I see the snake ball lock is supposed to hold the ball during multiball to allow you to shoot for the guitar picks and increased scoring. Great now I can sleep easier.

Step 5 on updating code is pace around the room and watch the progress - says nothing about reading the read me file... so your good!

Really like the way it's going but there is still a lot to do for me to be
really happy!

I saw some people writing they want the Mystery hole to have full of stuff and maybe dmd
animated game award,it's my wish also!

So many people have been wanting a video mode for years. Stern bring us a video mode! Tron though was the game to do it on.

With people bitching that drop targets slow down gameplay over stand ups I doubt we'll see video modes ever again.

Can anyone confirm if the snake holds the ball during multiball SNAKE AAB locks on the PRO models? I haven't put the code on yet but I wonder how this will work on the pro if you get a second ball wedged on top of the first (since the game will have no way of sensing that)?

Yes I've had this happen a few times already with two balls stuck in the snake on my Pro machine. I like the idea of the lock, but I'm pretty sure having two balls jammed in there wasn't there intention. Not sure how they'll fix that.

All I know is that now you have to light his left foot, right foot, and center. Or was it always like that? I don't remember it being that way.

No, I don't think so. Those 3 lights in front of his feet just work as a progress indicator from left to right...

I haven't played it yet but I hope they make it so you have to hit the physical target to start the multiball, kinda like the Amp Suit on Avatar. Hitting any of his targets beats him up, but you have to hit that dead center one to start the Multiball. Not only is that more satisfying IMO, but hits of the target go right back to the magnet for the catch while hits off his shoes sometimes result in airballs and that kinda messes up your MB start show.

Inside the snake itself could lead to all sorts of medical issues.
