I agree with you, but most people won't notice/care.
When the AC/DC premium/LE 12" woofer was released, most folks proclaimed how awesome it sounded. Hard for me to believe. The inefficiency of the 12" speaker sucked all the life out of the tiny amplifier. I installed all new drivers in my AC/DC...it improved the sound significantly, but there is only so much you can do with the dreadful mono samples.
Note that in general, I don't have high expectations for pinball audio...I'm typically happy with stock speakers.
