How many of you Pinheads are also Punk and Metalheads?! Starting this thread to get some talk going about your thoughts in the heavy music world today or past concerts, album reviews, anything! Let's get this goin!
Quoted from pinkid:I like old school metal and a little punk. Don't keep up much w/the newer stuff. I'm old school and stuck in the past. Todays music scene pales to what it once was. I miss going to shows and collecting things. Saw Megadeth in November of '86 at the Metroplex in Atlanta. What a great time. Met Dave and he was cool. Hallows Eve opened. My fave show ever..........
HOLD UP. You met Dave Mustaine?!
Quoted from Matesamo:I just went to see Megadeth/Amon Amarth/Suicidal Tendencies/Metal Church/Butcher Babies last week at Mohegan Sun casino. I have always been a huge ST fan so after their set the band came out to the lobby and posed for photos and autographed stuff. I met Mike Muir and he signed my jersey which was awesome. Even better, my wife who is not a fan was blown away by the live set and now wants to see them play a full show. Makes my heart happy!
LUCKY Mike Muir is the BEST! So jealous, man. So glad Dave hopped on drums for them
Quoted from o-din:I was into metal before punk burst on the scenes in the late 70s. Living in a town that had a huge punk scene, got me involved with that music too.
Here are some of my homies doing what they do best.
» YouTube video
NICE
Quoted from o-din:Another band from the neighborhood.
» YouTube video
SD live in your neighborhood, man?? Haha that's insane!
Quoted from Eskaybee:Count me in. Not as hardcore anymore, but grew up with punk and metal mostly in the 90's. DK, Circle jerks, DI, DRI, Black Flag, etc...
I was in a punk band for about 6 years in the late 90's / early 2000's; we got to open for the likes of D.R.I & D.I (separate shows); hungout drinking and smoking afterwards for hours. Good times!
We did some travelling up to Caneda (Vancouver) too, the crowd up there was so welcoming, pleasing, and just awesome people. Don't miss it too much, but love the memories.
Today, i mostly listen to Faction type music (SiriusXM); Metallica, Tool, pennywise, acdc, megadeth, DK, marley. I love most all music I need to get my 4 year old into music, he loves dancing & singing and when i bust out my BASS guitar he's like, 'dad, can i rock n roll too!?!'
Haha!! Very nice!!
Quoted from o-din:Not any more. But we are all the same age and grew up together. I helped set up their first gig when members of the Adolescents were still in SD. They played a song called Amoeba that night.
Once the Adolescents recorded Amoeba, it got quite a bit of radio play and put Fullerton on the map as a punk hotspot. DI and Agent Orange among a few others also hail from this area.
SO SICK
Quoted from Thermionic:Not really that hard to do, actually! Regardless of the gossip about Dave being "difficult", he has always been fan-friendly. I met and chatted with him and Marty Friedman when they were touring for "Rust.." and they couldn't have been nicer to this dorky star-struck 18 year-old!
DUDE that is insane! Marty is the best!
Quoted from xplorer:Punk and metal - my music
i grew up listening to punk / hardcore /straight edge stuff..but not the german bands. i was really into Agent Orange - Black Flag - Social Distortion - Ramones - DK - the Mystic / Doug Moody stuff - a lot of the crazy Nemesis records stuff - No For An Answer - Yuppicide. When i got older i driftet more and more into the metal scene - Iron Maiden (THE metal band beside Judas Priest) - Anthrax - Entombed - Accept - DRI - Running Wild and so on...
Today i'm still more into metal than punk but love both music styles Motörhead took both sides in their music.
you should have an eye on sweden / norway - there are so many great hardrock / metal / punk bands... Imperial State Electric - Grand Magus - Hellacopters - The Dagger - Kvelertak - Baboon Show..
Check out The Baboon Show:

and DUST BOLT is a band from my area - very nice guys with a thrashed ST style

NICE! I am an absolute Maiden nerd, man! I saw them in 2012 on their Seventh Son reboot tour! The greatest show I have ever been too. I have every album including Blaze's stuff! I'm a huge Anthrax fan too, that new album was killer! Got it on vinyl
Quoted from surfinvet:Hello fellow Pinheads,
I'm enjoying this thread! Bringing back lots of memories. Music has always been a passion of mine as well. Headed to Sacremento this morning to check out Aftershock Festival.
http://dx0st90rkitxi.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Aftershock-2016.10.6-mobile.jpg
DANG. Welcome to the club!
I met Philip Anselmo, Jimmy Bower, Pepper Keenan, Pat Brueders, and Bobby Landgraf at a Down VIP meet and greet last summer! It's was the greatest day of my life, super nice and talented dudes. Got autographed posters and pictures with the band! Some guy kept trying to buy my buddies and I's posters off of us and I was like NO I EARNED THIS.
Quoted from pinkid:Pinball-dood, my friends and I cruised by the venue early in the day and found the Megadeth Winnebago. Dave was at an open window and we rapped for awhile. He signed a few things and was totally "one of us". Even shared a spleef w/us. Really good times. The band at that time were like a machine. Still have all the autographs including Gars. R.I.P.
Incredible story, man! I love hearing these stories. Thanks for sharing
Quoted from rooky79:Not heard of them but I'll have a listen. You like Peter and the test tube babies or the Macc Lads?
I'll look them up!
Quoted from nwpinball:Loved them back in the day, I remember buying their yellow ROIR cassette at Tower Records when I was in highschool and being totally blown away. Saw them once on the I Against I tour in maybe 1987. Crazy as shit pit.
HELL YEAH!
What pin has the most Metal art? I'm gonna go with Centaur. That game is badass or like Spirit by Gottlieb. What do you all think?
Quoted from Gryszzz:Well since I was at Expo 4 days last week, my wife and girls really wanted me to go to their school/bonfire Halloween parties. So I did. And their parties suck. Soon as we get there, they're off with their friends...
Then I get home and find out mf Dave Lombardo is sittin in with ST...
Ah well...Skeletonwitch tomaree. Gonna be KILLER.
Sunday Sunday Sunday !
LUCKY. Tell us how it is!
Quoted from Baiter:Centaur is a good choice... and don't forget Gorgar!
RZ and Metallica are the obvious modern ones.
I was gonna say Gorgar too! Love Metallica's pin to death but I wish the line up on the backglass was them back in the Cliff Burton days That would have been awesome to see!
Quoted from Gryszzz:Dood. Yer 70 miles away. C'mon up and go. It's Dustins hometown show. Gonna be thrashtastic.
It's in Indy?!
Quoted from pezpunk:Yeahhhh big time. Bad Brains were an amazing, amazing band but HR ... He has more than a few screws loose unfortunately, to put it mildly. He got really deep into Jah and went overboard on the homophobia in the 1980s. That was a long time ago, though, I don't *think* he is still like that. Ive met him. He is a little bit crazy. Like, "casually wears a motorcycle helmet all the time even though he doesn't own a motorcycle" crazy.
We've done this thread a few times now. I'll just post the same picture I always post of my band on stage at the 930 Club in DC.
Insane! That's not cool, man. Damn amazing band though
Quoted from Hazoff:» YouTube video
Phantom of the Opera is such a perfect song. Dave Murray's solo and Dennis Stratton's rhythm is absolutely amazing! Iron Maiden has always been my favorite band of all time. I love every era of Maiden equally, man
Quoted from Hazoff:Huge fan, I love Elvis and hes like an evil Elvis, I think Glenn has a amazing voice and the first 4 or so albums Dazing put out were pretty great. This is one of my favs.
» YouTube video
HELL YES! Glenn is the best. I totally agree, man. The first four albums are stellar. I have been listening to 'Tired of Being Alive' on repeat today on the Danzig II album
Quoted from nwpinball:I saw Soundgarden a lot growing up in Seattle. We used to bowl at the same bowling alley in their early years! They got to arena rock for me later in their career, but I loved their early stuff and that era.
That's awesome, man!
Quoted from str8cash:Haha, I had that S.O.D patch on the back of my jean jacket under my leather back in late 80s/early 90s.
Boy couldn't wear that anymore.
I was a big thrash/punk kid. Anything fast and heavy was for me. Too many bands to list.
Anyone else find the transition from metal to grunge easy? Seemed metal was dying and some great bands like Melvins, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and later Nirvana were emerging from the northwest.
Here's a pic of me and my bro circa 1990. Think I'm 12 and older bro was 17. Don't remember the slayer necklace I was wearing but still have my Justice concert tee somewhere.
That is awesome, man! I dig the Anthrax I Am The Law shirt
Quoted from Gerrard17:I thought this already existed? or are we going above ground now?

"You are at the beach, you can DITCH that" haha that's a great episode
Quoted from Cornelius:I broke out some Helmet during my drive to Vegas... "Meantime" still kicks major ass!
» YouTube video
One of the first songs to blow my young mind, along with The Minutemen and Black Flag
SICK. Black Flag is absolutely amazing
Quoted from Cornelius:it's so odd to have two versions of Black Flag out on tour.
It is! I respect what they are doing but it's no Black Flag without the original line up and and 3 of the original singers, Henry, Keith, and Chavo
These are my friends in the louisville local hardcore scene, HEAVIEST BAND IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW. Support new local hardcore. My buddies and I are in a beatdown hardcore band called Parasitosis too.
One of the venues we play at has some great pins tooBally Spy Hunter, Dr.Who, Roadshow, to name a few
Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:Also what I wouldn't give to be at this show.
» YouTube video
HELL YES
Quoted from Metalmanmiles:Circle jerks- making the bombs live with a classic speech by Keith
» YouTube video
"And don't spit man" haha
Quoted from renodakota:WEEEEEEEEDDDDD EEEEEEAAAATTTTTTER!!!!!
Dixie Dave And Cough Syrup!
» YouTube video
I LIKE, very heavy. Thanks for sharing dude
Quoted from o-din:You have to understand, at the time there was Foghat, Aerosmith, and Ted Nugent. Pick your poison. That's why I had to diversify.
Hahah! Choosing punk was a good move my friend
Quoted from rooky79:Jesus fucking Christ. Looks like I'm heading home to see the folks for a 'holiday'
DANG!! Metallica, Alice In Chains, SLAYER, and Anthrax on the same bill? LUCKY
Quoted from Hazoff:I can but play Bass 1st, then guitar and lastly Drums, heres a couple Halloween quick tunes I did to honor Dr.Loomis, theres no vocals but its me on Bass and Guitar a buddy is playing drums, I usually jam with bass and drums then I add guitar, its simple stuff but fun, all done pretty fast so don't judge too harshly.

Awesome, man! I am in a band here in the local hardcore scene and I love it. Huge fan of the 4th and 5th Halloweens too!
Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:I saw Megadeth play in a room the size of my kitchen this week. They ripped through every single one of their hits in an hour. Definitely the highlight of my metal career.
NICEE
https://parasitosishc.bandcamp.com/album/decrepit-promo-2017 My band put out a new album, I played drums and our guitarist is also a pinball fan (and my brother who plays bass). Support HARDCORE
