Yeahhhh big time. Bad Brains were an amazing, amazing band but HR ... He has more than a few screws loose unfortunately, to put it mildly. He got really deep into Jah and went overboard on the homophobia in the 1980s. That was a long time ago, though, I don't *think* he is still like that. Ive met him. He is a little bit crazy. Like, "casually wears a motorcycle helmet all the time even though he doesn't own a motorcycle" crazy.

We've done this thread a few times now. I'll just post the same picture I always post of my band on stage at the 930 Club in DC.

great thread. grew up listening mostly to hardcore and youth crew with some punk mixed in there. still active and going to shows.
i run a pinball league and all tournaments at a local bar called House of TARG. it's a live music venue and arcade. they're a big hub for punk/metal and other underground music here in the city and most of the staff are punks. check them out if you're in the area - http://www.houseoftarg.com

haha never thought i'd see Napalm Raid mentioned on Pinside, but here we are! great band.

Oh man I go to Ottawa for two weeks every summer, I've got to get out to House of TARG next time!

Propagandhi is probably my favorite band. so many political punk bands just end up sounding like whiny, bratty kids shouting generic platitudes about "society" or whatever, but these guys are the real deal. their lyrics are cogent and dense, and packed with historical citations. they have been around since 1986, and they still tour and record new albums, and every album they have released has been more complex (musically and lyrically) than the last.

    Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes

here are some of the historical reference points for the lyrics to this particular song:

    Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

Fugazi. Irving Plaza. Glen E Friedman. F yes!

    Quoted from o-din:

It was a pretty good show. Nielson was getting a little cocky when he was ripping a solo and mentioned it was 10 times better than Ted Nugent.

Ten times better than Nugent would still be fucking awful in my book.

The Meatmen - How Soon is Now
    » YouTube video

Tesco Vee and the Meatmen are still around ... saw them about a year ago or so playing with my good friends COPSTABBER (who are awesome).

    such a catchy chorus --

    "over 99% effective
help stave off a kid infection
    it's my birth control suggestion
    have abortions, more abortions"

    their shows are quite fun:

Against Me!, Flogging Molly, and Rancid would be fun. the rest of the bill isn't really my thing.

    Quoted from nwpinball:

Speaking of the Buzzcocks, did anyone catch them on their US tour earlier this year? They were great! I'd seen almost every 70s and 80s punk and I'd wanted to see except them. They played a pretty small club here too:

Yeah, I did. They were fantastic as usual. I've seen them a half dozen times at least. THe best was at a small club in the mid 90s, there were like maybe 50 people there. Pete Shelley was just chatting with us between songs. They played Orgasm Addict twice, haha. I met Pete after a different show and he was super nice, put up with my drunk rambling ass for like 45 minutes.
