You have great taste, Micheal Myers
Quoted from freezie:saw these guys live and was blown away , ive never seen a drummer hit harder live than this guy.

At least one of the guys from Black Breath is an avid pinball player, they are from Seattle, I see him at Shorty's and other pinball bars around town all the time. Someone brought him to a party at my place and he immediately was getting the highest score anyone has ever gotten on my Doctor Who pin.
Quoted from freezie:Used to love seeing these guys and D.R.I. , and S.N.F. U. Back in the 80's

Me too, Dayglow played Seattle a lot. Also Vandals, DOA, TSOL, Descendants, Circle Jerks, 7 Seconds, The Accused, Christ on a Crutch, NoMeansNo... and later bands like Zeke, Bristle, Sicko, Detestation, The Bloodclots, Spits, etc. -- love West Coast punk.
Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:YO Who here listens to DANZIG?
Huge fan, I love Elvis and hes like an evil Elvis, I think Glenn has a amazing voice and the first 4 or so albums Dazing put out were pretty great. This is one of my favs.
Quoted from Hazoff:» YouTube video
Phantom of the Opera is such a perfect song. Dave Murray's solo and Dennis Stratton's rhythm is absolutely amazing! Iron Maiden has always been my favorite band of all time. I love every era of Maiden equally, man

HELL YES! Glenn is the best. I totally agree, man. The first four albums are stellar. I have been listening to 'Tired of Being Alive' on repeat today on the Danzig II album
I saw Soundgarden a lot growing up in Seattle. We used to bowl at the same bowling alley in their early years! They got to arena rock for me later in their career, but I loved their early stuff and that era.

That's awesome, man!
Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:I respect your opinion, man but LAYNE. Haha
I'm a Death Metal junkie, good Death Metal anyway.
Quoted from o-din:This band was an inspiration. Most of the punk bands from this area give these guys credit. For when they started doing it. And watching them play.

Digging this, never heard of them. Sounds like really old Cheap Trick, and that's a good thing in my world.
49 y/o and HB O.G..... yeah you could say I was a bit into the scene! 1st show at 16, driving up to Pasadena for the "Rock Against Reagan" tour with MDC, DRI, and the Circle Jerks. Soon followed by GBH, Exploited, Youth Brigade, Bad Religion, many more... bummed I missed out on DK, TSOL, Black Flag... punk rock saved my sanity (at least what I have left of it)
I thought this already existed? or are we going above ground now?

D.O.A. - Fuck You
you call us weirdos, you call us crazy.
you say we're evil, you say we're lazy.
you say we're just the violent type.
kinda dumb not too bright.
[Chorus:] we don't care what you say - fuck you! we don't care what you say - fuck you!
you tell your friends that we're really sick.
short hair fags on a commie trip.
you should know cause your so cool. number one, nobody's fool
[Chorus]
so come on man, ya better jump right in.
this is one game that everybody's in.
don't care where ya been, don't care how ya look.
it's hell fire man, ya really gotta cook.
[Chorus] fuck you!
Quoted from o-din:Hard to say exactly what was the first band to play metal style music, but I'd have to say Cream might have invented it. Loud blues based music with power chords.
There were many loud heavy bands but for me this is the birth of it all.
Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:Up the IRONS
I still call somewhere in time "the New Maiden"
Quoted from rotordave:Saw some Lamb of God and Slipknot tonight. Good times.

im sure you saw it all from your vantage point! actually i think im in your photos there, im the guy in the black shirt.

Haha, I had that S.O.D patch on the back of my jean jacket under my leather back in late 80s/early 90s.
Boy couldn't wear that anymore.
I was a big thrash/punk kid. Anything fast and heavy was for me. Too many bands to list.
Anyone else find the transition from metal to grunge easy? Seemed metal was dying and some great bands like Melvins, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and later Nirvana were emerging from the northwest.
Here's a pic of me and my bro circa 1990. Think I'm 12 and older bro was 17. Don't remember the slayer necklace I was wearing but still have my Justice concert tee somewhere.

I think you and me went to alot of the same shows. Never thought I'd see S.N.F.U on pinside. When they were from/based in Edmonton they'd play every other weekend locally. Must have seen them 25 times or more.. Now we need some Dayglo Abortions references here. First 4 albums are killer. Canadian thrash icons.

I saw the Justice concert and it was great, I too was long hair, no pics though, I liked Soundgarden mostly from that time, pearl Jam and Nirvana weren't really my style but early 90's was my move to Death Metal and after that its tough to go back, I did like Corrosion of Conformity quite a bit and Sabbath/Slayer are a constant source of joy to this day.

Lamb is so great
Lamb Of God - Blacken The Cursed Sun
Seize a darkened day,
There's only hell to pay,
And no one left to see this prodigal return.
Sweet apathy's my toll.
You'll mourn the traded soul.
I'll dig a deeper hole.
Sanctity, a breath away.
Just a breath away.
Blacken the cursed sun.
You're not the only one,
To have sunk so far and low.
There is no tomorrow.
A tragedy on display,
A sickness for all to see.
I will kill this part of myself that I hate and that I see in you.
It was always mine, anyway.
There's something you can't take away.
I choose not to feel the pain
Sanctity, a breath away.
Just a breath away.
Away.
Just a breath away.
Blacken the cursed sun.
You're not the only one,
To have sunk so far and low.
There is no tomorrow.
Blacken the cursed sun.
Blacken what's yet to be done.
Blacken, because now you know, there is no tomorrow.
Is there still hope for us?
Can we still be saved?
Does your God hold a place for us?
There is no tomorrow.
Is there still hope for us?
Can we still be saved?
Does your God hold a place for us?
Is there time to repent?
Will we rise from the dead?
Can these sins even be forgiven?
Is there still hope for us?
Were we ever even alive?
Is any of this even real?
You're just a breath away.
You're just a breath away.
Better to die quick fighting on your feet
Then to live forever begging on your knees
No.
Can we still be saved?
Hell no!
Does your God hold a place for us?
Hell no!
Is there time to repent?
Hell no!
Will we rise from the dead?
Hell no!
Can these sins even be forgiven?
Hell no!
Is there still hope for us?
Hell no!
Were we ever even alive?
Hell no!
Is any of this even real?
Hell no!
Hell no!
Your boyfriend is bound to mispronounce their name, but if you like dramatic black metal.....
DIMMU BORGIR - Progenies of The Great Apocalypse
The battle raged on and on
Fuelled by the venom of hatred for man
Consistently, without the eyes to see
By those who revel in sewer equally
We, the prosperity of the future seal
Cloaked by the thunders of the north wind
Born to capture the essence of
The trails of our kind
Zero tolerance must be issued forth
Behind the enemy's line
So it shall be written
And so it shall be done
Discover and conceive the secret wealth
And pass it unto your breed
Become your own congregation
Measure the sovereignty of it's invigoration
We, who not deny the animal of our nature
We, who yearn to preserve our liberation
We, who face darkness in our hearts with a solemn fire
We, who aspire to the truth and pursue it's strength
Are we not the undisputed prodigy of warfare
Fearing all the mediocrity that they possess
Should we not hunt the bastards down with our might
Reinforce and claim the throne that is rightfully ours
Consider the god we could be without the grace
Once and for all
Diminish the sub principle and leave it's toxic trace
Once and for all
Quoted from Hazoff:I saw the Justice concert and it was great, I too was long hair, no pics though, Sabbath/Slayer are a constant source of joy to this day
Same here. Still love Slayer, Sabbath, early Metallica. Try to make it to see them whenever they're in the area.
Ozzfest 99 was a blast. First Sabbath/Ozzy reunion, White Zombie, Slayer, Primus, Deftones, etc.
Did any east coasters here on pinside get a chance to see Beastie Boys live when they were a punk band? I love their tracks when they play instruments punk style.
EndeverafteR - Baby, Baby, Baby
Your lips they glisten cherry red
And I wanna taste it all
Your hips are shaking me to death
The way you shake it
But don't stop now, c'mon honey
Tell me how, how do you want it?
Don't stop now 'cause I need it
Don't stop and take it all away
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Don't stop, honey, right or wrong
And I'll drive you crazy, all night long
Your lips they glisten soaking wet
And I wanna take it all
Your sweet skin all over the bed
I wanna penetrate it
But don't stop now, c'mon honey
Tell me how, how do you want it?
Don't stop now 'cause I need it
Don't stop and take it all away
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Don't stop,…
Tell me just what turns you on
What turns you on
What turns you on
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Baby baby baby
C'mon and show me what you got
Don't stop, honey, right or wrong
And I'll drive you crazy, all night long
Tell me just what turns you on
What turns you on
What turns you on
C'mon and take it all away
If you ever wondered where Iron Maiden stole the riff for 2 Minutes to Midnight from:
Riot - Swords & Tequila
Dirty city, dirty games
Dirty women, dirty shames
The life that you lead
The chance that you took
A shadow in the night
On the line, you're hooked
If you see us comin'
Don't you run the other way?
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the fight
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the fight
Wait for the night to fall
To plan their attack
Fightin' songs on parade, they march
An army in black
Killers without a cause
Rebels with no name
City's gone to the underground
Caught in a deadly game
If you see us comin'
Don't you run the other way?
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the fight
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the fight
And I just don't mean kickin' ass
If you see us comin'
Don't you, run the other way
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the fight
Swords and tequila
Carry me through the night
Swords and tequila
Carry me through, carry me through the fight
Quoted from Hazoff:There were many loud heavy bands but for me this is the birth of it all.
A lot of people give Sabbath credit for starting it all, but since Cream was doing it two years earlier I give them the credit. Yardbirds may not have had that heavy sound, but they deserve a lot of credit for inspiring what followed.
To keep this pinball relevant, I'll offer a $250 finders fee to anybody who can hook me up with a Gottlieb Punk machine.
I must be older than most...to me, punk started with the Velvet Underground, then the Stooges and the NY Dolls, morphed through early Roxy Music, into the London pub rock scene, then kicked it up circa 1976 with the Ramones, Dictators, Television, Dead Boys - finally crossing back over the pond to the Pistols, Buzzcocks, Damned, Adverts, Jam, Clash, Vibrators, Stranglers, etc.
I was lucky enough to have seen the Pistols on their US self destruction tour, the Clash during their heyday, the Ramones in 300 capacity bars, Costello when he was still angry, and too many others to list/remember.
And I will say it - West Coast "punk" at the time sucked, with the exception of the Avengers. All of the rest of it was just noisy, screaming thrash posers who couldn't find a good melody if somebody sung it into their ears. There, I said it. Have at me.....
