I have a new in box Met premium and I was offered a straight trade for WOZ standard (low play). What are your thoughts?

#2 8 years ago

Even trade value wise, but MET is the far more entertaining game imo.

#3 8 years ago

I have a Met Prem and a WOZLE. Both are great games that will likely never leave my collection. That sounds like good value assuming the WOZ was a later run with no issues.

it's a 2014 with direct print cabinet

I would do the trade and buy a Met Pro later. WOZ is great and Met pro is all you need .

Agreed!

#7 8 years ago

Are met pro led and premiums still being made?

#8 8 years ago

I was told yes. in January.

#9 8 years ago

Value wise it's a good trade, if you want the WOZ more that Metallica.

I'd never trade my Metallica for a WOZ personally, but we all like different games.

Have you played WOZ much? It's a looker, with lots of features, but the gameplay is not everyone's cup of tea. I suggest putting an hour on one before you decide.

Excellent swap. Much more to WOZ.

#12 8 years ago

Even money but Metallica is the better game all day and premiums are hard to find

#13 8 years ago

I own both. I would honestly give a slight edge to WOZ. Both are deep games, both have different ways to play the game.

#14 8 years ago

Would definatly put a bit of time on woz first an see if you like it, but like some one said before you can always pick a pro up if you miss it, Metallica is such a good game though!!

#15 8 years ago

I would do the trade, then get a MET Pro if you miss it.

I have both also, but my Metallica is a Pro and the WoZ is a 75th RR Edition. I really like them both and don't think the game play is similar. The code is great on both of them, so as long as you like the shot layout, I'd say go for it. But as others have said, I would definitely play the WoZ first to make sure you like it.

I like them both a lot, but for vastly different reasons.

#17 8 years ago

It does take a little time to get WOZ. People usually go through a cycle of 'look how nice it looks' followed by 'I don't get what I am doing' and then it will click for them once they get the rules or they get a bunch of things stacked and it just goes nuts on them. I have seen quite a few go through this playing mine.

Metallica is an awesome game too (I have both) but you can always grab a pro.

#18 8 years ago

Had both. Met Premium is still here. Want to love WOZ but it just doesn't do it for me.

#19 8 years ago

So what did you do

#20 8 years ago

I have both and think that's a good trade. It all comes down to personal preference, but I really like both games.

#21 8 years ago

Sold WOZ LE,still have MET LE.
I got sick of the woz theme fast, looks pretty though.
Plays good to.

#22 8 years ago

Never. Woz is a unreliable game and not as fun. Met is amazing!!!

X2.. My WOZLE is long gone but my METLE is here to stay.

WOZ is the better game.

#25 8 years ago

If you like woz id trade and get met pro to replace it. Woz is a looker but like others have said put time on it first if you cant get metallica back quick. To me the themes are much like the games. Metallica you buy the album and wear it out then just play your favorite songs/modes. Woz you watch the movie once or twice a year and that is plenty. I believe woz is great for a large collection but under 8 games cant see having one.

#26 8 years ago

You need to log at least 10 to 20 games before making a decision.

#27 8 years ago

Looking at your collection, it appears you have several pins that have a similar (fan) layout that may provide a similar experience / effect.

If you want to add something into the mix that will provide a different experience, I would suggest that WOZ is an excellent choice to diversify your collection. I can say that adding WOZ was part of the balanced approach I took with my collection, and it fits in extremely well with friends and family (I really like it too).

I agree with the earlier comment that (if possible) it would be ideal to log some time onto any machine prior to moving forward.

Good luck with your decision

#28 8 years ago

I'd do that trade in heartbeat. WOZ is the far superior game, IMO. I agree with what CLG said above.

#29 8 years ago

If I had a METLE no way would I swap it, premiums will come up for sale more often than an LE so can be replaced.
That''s really hard to answer as they are so different. IMO Metallica is more fun to play with mates, cranked up with a sub. However if your alone and wanted to play something a little deeper with more to do then WOZ is the game. I have MET R/C and WOZ RR, so no bias to one or the other just my 2 cents.

WOZ just isn't much fun to play at all. MET is the better pin by far.

#34 8 years ago

i'd do it in a second. Gameplay on MET is far superior to WOZ. But on the same token. You can get away with a Pro with MET. Truth be told, I actually like the pro better, because the hammer is ugly and don't like it where it's located.

#35 8 years ago

Trade! Trade! Trade ! Metallica is much better.

WOZ is a masterpiece. MET isn't even in the same league (but it's a hell of a lot of fun).

When you stack your first set of multiballs along with a munchkin mode or something else and your whole machine seems like it's about to explode, you'll realize why you made the right decision.

#38 8 years ago

you wont regret it, enjoy!

#39 8 years ago

Couldn't be such a polar opposite when it comes to themes... Metallica or Wizard of Oz.. It's like trading a porn movie for a Disney flick

Oh please. Metallica is the Disney of metal.

...Unless you meant WOZ is the porn flick in your analogy, in which case, man, that is just kinky.

Nah, WOZ is the Disney of pinball machines, MET theme in general is a total opposite of WOZ which is my point. Fry a guy in an electric chair vs starting a cute little munchkin multiball ....... Yeah, I'll stick with MET personally

#42 8 years ago

I have them both and they are both awesome games. However, if I could only pick one it would be WoZ. The light show is incredible.

It's hard to believe that WOZ is the first game from a brand-new company... it just hits on so many different levels. Absolutely awesome.

#44 8 years ago

Solid trade in terms of value.
Compatibility?
One family friendly, the other is NOT.
Theme?
You have to really like MET, WoZ is universal.
Depends on who else you have to consider in the household.

WOZ is definitely a love it or hate it game! Of all the games I have owned WOZ lasted the shortest time in my collection. I just didn't find it fun to play, so I stopped playing it and sold it shortly thereafter. We all don't like the same things and that's good!

Disclaimer this is my personal opinion.

Upside:
.The game is eye candy to the extreme
.The game is built like a tank

Downside (for me):
.Shots are not satisfying
.Theme was not for me
.1 ramp and 2 mini playfields
.Music and sound package grated my nerves.. Example Ting noise from WOZ lanes and the witch.

#46 8 years ago
Quoted from Concretehardt:

I agree that there is no one definitely opinion. I will say, for the first month or so, I thought the shots were clunky. However, that I've gotten used to their geometry...the game just feels so different than anything else...the shots feel awesome. Newer code is also helping with this...as the intended shots are much easier to identify. Perhaps if you'd held onto the game, you option would change..

???
MET stacks MBs as well, but clearly could do more if Mr. Sheats decides to "return again" someday or another steps up.
The one thing that separates WoZ from MET is the ruleset depth for "wizard mode".
They almost have the same amount of "whizbang" stuff.
Both make great home machines.
MET is much more reliable however, at the present time.

Oh, you did NOT just use the Pinside rankings to validate your argument, did you?

You must have missed the part where I said MET was a hell of a lot of fun. I think you're nitpicking your argument here. My point was simply that in addition to incredible gameplay, the entire package of WOZ (art, music, light show, etc.) elevates it into a different league.

I'm by no means doing the Pinside thing of trashing one machine to praise another. Both great in different ways, but it's WOZ for the win, IMHO.

i like MET, but come on, no they don't. WOZ is on another level in terms of features. both are great games though.

#50 8 years ago

I'll agree MET has a decent amount going on - inline drops, bash toy with magnet and a couple ramps, but the same amount of 'whizbang' stuff? No way. MET - fan layout with two flippers : WOZ - Varied layout with 4 flippers and 3 playfields that can all be going at once, many other features.

Both are great games, both have themes that apparently turn people on/off. MET isn't a theme I would keep for long despite listening to them back in the day and liking the art overall. Fun and challenging game for sure and can be very fast. Put a different theme on this with the same level of art, rules, etc. and it's got an even bigger fanbase. I like both but would take WOZ over MET most days and definitely in the long run.
