Does it bother anyone else that Stern’s website is littered with the abbreviated term “Merch”? It’s MERCHANDISE! Merch isn’t even recognized by spell checkers making typing this rant even more difficult. Just spell the whole word. Abbreviated millennial words are unprofessional.

Those darn millennials are at it again!

They canceled half of the word, damn it

    #6 3 years ago

Merch is a common term in the concert/music scene, and I’m sure elsewhere as well. Stern positions itself as a boutique for pinball and pop culture. Even though most of the younger generation can’t afford to buy their games, they’re still trying to appeal to them. Look at the models wearing their clothes.

They are "prolly" trying to be cool. Hate that abbrv ,,,,,

Merch is an old-ass term, like from the 90's or earlier. They are probably trying to relate to old bastards more than millennials.

    #19 3 years ago

I have to admit, swag drives me a little crazy, but merch has been around as long as I can remember. I think you are hating on the Gen Xers with merch.

    #20 3 years ago

It's like the word "Peep's", just say the entire word people.

    Why besmirch the merch?

    #24 3 years ago

There’s a 60 something man that I used to work with, he used half world all the time. You know, like using hilar instead of hilarious.

I deff thought he sounded ridic when he only used half of a word to talk. Seniors these days trying to sound hip like the kids do.

    #25 3 years ago

They might as well just use emojis to be cool. The now cool thing is to talk in hieroglyphs.

    #26 3 years ago

Your life must be so spectacular that this is something you find irritating enough to complain about.

    #27 3 years ago

Sigh... how is this even worth discussing?

OP, i'd suggest taking a few days off the internet. Last week, you rage quit on a bunch of "toxic" threads as an act of Mr. Moral Highground, and now you made one of those threads of your own.

Anyone else picturing OP shaking his fist and yelling at everything in sight to get off his lawn?

This. I have had guys work for us that became confused when the term “merchandise” was used. Nowadays using the full word makes you sound like a Hollywood mobster. Not a recent development.

    #34 3 years ago

I used to sell merch for bands. I never once called it merchandise.

    #35 3 years ago

i thot u new the yung foks ruined englsish long ago w ther txting

    #36 3 years ago

Funnier thing about Stern site was the article entitled fall preview. Of course, I assumed it had something to do with games. When I clicked on it, the topic was about all the new Stern apparel. Cause that's what we want. More info about stern t-shirts.

Merch is miles better than Swag.

PS: it’s not a pinball machine. It’s a lifestyle machine.

    #42 3 years ago

    Sterns cost savings pfffff

    #43 3 years ago

Anytime someone says half a word to me I giggle inside cause it sounds so dumb. Just talk full worded sentences.
I tots think this Merch is the bomb. Lol ok. You mean this merchandise is really cool. Got it

    Quoted from EricHadley:

That's not exactly eloquence from the mouth of someone so concerned about a use of language and grammar. But I digress. Continue hurling stones in that glass house.

Totes. The word is totes. Tots is a grouping of toddlers.
