Hello, I’m having an issue with my Baywatch project. The game boots and plays only with the coin door open, solenoids work. When i close the door the game locks up. If I try booting the game with the coin door closed the game says “Baywatch will be right back” and the DMD shows the display version then goes black.
It’s when the bottom white memory protect switch by the coin door that’s causing issues when pressed in. I tried a different switch from a working game and same issue. Probably an issue on the CPU. CN14 is the connector on the cpu. I have continuity from the switch to the connector. New ramtron nv ram is installed. Any guidance on what else to check/replace would be appreciated . How do I test the memory protect circuit?

Bump. Help!

It looks like it was a faulty 1608 Ramtron NVRAM. I tried another one and all problems seem to have gone away.

Check for solder splash between the legs. Sometimes the salvaged chips end up with shorts at the chip body between the legs, hard to see.
