When did pinball go from a 'build a bonus and then multiply it' type of scoring to 'shot based real time' scoring? Was there a pivot point in pinball history or was it a gradual thing over many years and manufacturers?
The best pinball memories I had - hitting that multiplier shot ... 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x! Each one had it's own colour and when it lit up.... wow, that was really satisfying to see them all in one ball. Then when the bonus countdown started.... standing back so you could take it all in... the chimes, the cascading lights, the climbing score that seemed to never stop. And to top it all, the knocker going off for replay as the countdown nears the end. You look around the room. Yeah, that was me.
Wish the bonus countdown would made a comeback.
