I think Bally Playboy did a good job with it playing a tune but boy, it took a long time when you had your bonus maxed out.

On DMD games, it was always nice when it showed you the what you earned, multiplied it via an animation, and then counted it into your score. Some games did it better than others. But as other end of ball awards appeared (loop bonus etc.), it had to be lumped together as a single score value to shorten play time. Plus, they added the hit both flippers function to zip right through the whole collect routine.
