    MOV's normally die as a result of a line voltage spike.
    Tough to tell what that was from the picture. It almost looks like something 'blue' in there that has been coated with RTV. What machine was this and what does the manual show?

    Looks like rather than repinning the connector for US settings, they cut and spliced wires. You can tell where the two wires were to begin with in the connector. Like others have said - need the connections on the other side to clarify things.
