So, here we go.

The plan.

Restore the cabinet, repaint it using pinball pimp stencils.

Playfield swap with CPR gold PF. and plastics.

Back glass is decent (a few touch ups) so not sure if i'll replace that yet.

A few new parts, switches, pop bumper goodies, etc.

And that's it.

Playfield pulled and stripped.

Had one huge piece of mylar over the entire middle section of the playfield. Unfortunately it was applied too late.

Just need to get the black lettered 2" zipper flipper bats now. Found them at PBR but i've never ordered from them. Understand its a bit like ordering from the soup nazi so I've always avoided him.

Original vs repro. Just a small example. I've redrawn TONS of stuff so i know how hard it is but some of these lines aren't even close. Was there more than 1 version of the pf art? Who knows.

The window is a bit more obvious. A lot of detail is either simplified or filled in.

I'll pass. Thanks though. I decided that if I'm going to do a pf swap, I might as well get a new repro.

Seems everyone is out of stock on the actual Medusa Manual and Schematics. But i tracked it down in the 1981 Bally parts catalog pdf.

Action Pinball (discontinued) Ugh!!

Normally-closed EOS switch with nylon spacer/insulator. As used for outer switch on upper right flipper on Bally Medusa pinball to control lower flipper illumination lighting.

Even if PBR does not list it, they probably have it in stock AND it's cheaper than anyone else.

I can't wait to see your total BOM for this game!

#46 5 years ago

Grabbed this info from jadziedzic on the Medusa owners club thread.

"The end-of-stroke switches on the upper flippers are a special breed used only on Medusa. The upper left uses a paired ASW-A20-13 and ASW-A20-37, while the upper right uses a paired ASW-A20-12 and ASW-A20-36. The -36/-37 have an attached nylon switch lifter; all four switches are high current varieties. The inner EOS switches power to the lights beneath the playfield under the lower flipper inserts, while the outer EOS switches high power to the flipper coil. The BFLIP-01 kit sold by PBR supplies an EOS that isn't really a good match for the -12/-13 switches; it can be made to work by shortening the longer (movable) blade. The good news is that you can purchase the -13, -36, and -37 switches from PBR; the -12 switch is not available. If you get an extra -13 switch you can disassemble it and add some side lug solder plates to make an acceptable substitute."

Thanks man! i'm going to try these.

Thanks for posting all this info. I’ve got a CPR playfield for mine, but my original playfield is decent enough that it’ll probably be one of the last ones I do. But my cabinet needs a paint job badly.
