Quoted from meSz:

No they're not. Will be interested once I restore my Medusa as I do have a new set of CPR plastics.

Yeah you don't see these come up too often. Seems this era of Bally (Fathom, Centaur, Medusa to name a few) people tend to hang onto!! GL with your search!

I won't ever let go of mine! However, don't loose hope as I have seen a few come up in my area in just the past couple months. I think it might be a hit or miss machine with some folks. Maybe they get spooked by the bg?

Many of them have day one mylar so the pf stays in pretty good condition. I was lucky enough to snag a NOS pf to put in mine. I saw the seller at a pin event last weekend and thanked him again!

#252 4 years ago

FYI.... About 90% done cutting now, about 70% done with inserts. I expect the PFs will be fully glued and sanded within 2 weeks and over at Kev's for printing within days of that..... Since ToTAN is fully completed printing he only has Joker Poker and a pretty small run of Corvette PFs ahead of Medusa. We could see these pretty soon!

Sweet. I don't even have a Medusa yet, nor am I in on the CPR run, but more playfields for a great game is always a good thing!

#254 4 years ago

For those still looking hang in there. When I stopped looking one showed up. So now I've stopped looking for Centaur. Fingers crossed!

^^^^ Easy does it Medusa. Don't get all worked up and start turning us pinball guys to stone.
Bad things start happening when you get that mean glare in your eyes.

Funny, ...you seem so pleasant at pinball events and pinball parties.
Hey, that's it!
When pinball machines are around, then we see PavBall. No good pinball machines around, --> Medusa appears.

Yup, I'm not adding it to my collection until it is at my restorers place though. I'm too fearful of shipping companies! LOL

#274 4 years ago

Congrats! Great game and the CPR playfield is getting closer and closer to coming to fruition. CPR already reproduced the plastics and backglass! Bob reproduced the transparent targets (see www.langelius.com) and Matt (merfeldma) spoke about reproducing the aprons but haven't heard anything further on this, especially since the ToTAN apron issue!

#275 4 years ago
Quoted from meSz:

Sadly, their backglass does not look as good as an original. I saw them discussing why that was the case in another thread about two weeks ago. I wish they would redo it and ha e it be higher quality.

Quoted from TigerLaw:

Agree and I sold the one I bought and stuck with the original. Hopefully they will redo them!

#277 4 years ago

CPR is probably going to want to sell out of the stock they have left of the bad ones before running good quality ones.

I would contribute to the effort and buy one as art if they would blow them out for $100 each or something. I just won't pay $225 for something of that quality.

#278 4 years ago

Interesting statement because we have been sold out for over a year.....

Quoted from TigerLaw:

#279 4 years ago

and I have already said multiple times now that we are going to do another run of these with New Artwork ( which we already have ) and our New Production process for CMYK glasses ( which is A LOT Different than Spot Color glasses ), but I have No Time-Frame at this point....

CPR is sold out of the backglass but there are places ("distributors") still selling them!

This is the comment that interests me a tremendous amount. Was this alternative artwork concepts from Bally or something? That sounds super cool, I hope it is mirrored.

NO, Incorrect.

Quoted from Aurich:

NO.

We have since Changed many aspects of our Production Process to correct the problem, a perfect example of a CPR Backglass using the New Production Process is the EATPM Backglass we did 6 months ago. EATPM was the first CMYK Process Color ( Not "Spot Color" ) project where I created a New Formula for Converting RGB to CMYK AND Color Correcting the Scan for Film Output that is Optimized for our specific CPR Silk-Screening Process......

When I did the color correction of the Original Cruse Scanned Image for Medusa ( RGB Converted to CMYK, Adjusted, and Color Matched ) I adjusted the Image to the "Production Process" ( Screen-Printing ) that was being used by CPR a couple years back when this title was made. Later we discovered that the Screen-Print process was actually Over-Saturating the Ink onto the Glass ( making Cow-Patty Blobs INSTEAD of Nice Clean Sharp Dots ) which made the image look "heavy" on the color and it ultimately "looked" like the Colors were wrong, which they were Not. The Colors were correct, it was simply an Illusion due to the Over-Saturation of the Ink on the glass. The Cow-Patty's were "smooching together" instead of being "separated" from one-another, thus causing a 'middle color' of Muck that never should have been there. This is what caused the image to look Heavy in Color. This was also the problem with the Flash Gordon "Flesh Color" looking too Red ( the Magenta was not Nice Clean Dots they were Cow-Patty's all smooched together causing the Red to be much more pronounced and thus making everything look Red instead of Flesh color). This same issue is why the Paragon, Centaur & Star Trek Backglasses came out the way they did......

I was NOT Happy with any of these and that is why Kevin & I put so much Effort & did so much Experimenting with Different Production Process until we figured out the Perfect Formula for Artwork Color Conversions, Artwork Color Correction, Film Line Screens and DPI, Screen Mesh Sizes, Ink Consistency, Screen Pressure, Screen Print Speed, Etc......The results of our R&D Efforts paid off with the EATPM Backglass, it looks Awesome! And this new process is what we will be following on All new CMYK projects from here on out.

#285 4 years ago
Quoted from Aurich:

I'm guessing Stu just means they have the original films now.

Perhaps so. I remember PPS saying they had alternate Gorgar artwork for the backglass they found (granted it was just changing the silver to gold as I recall). Perhaps it is something similar here with Medusa.

Stu clarified above. My comment above was just seconds after his (I did not see his), so disregard my speculation entirely as it is not accurate.

The EATPM glass was an RGB to CMYK conversion, so maybe not the best example, but I was pretty disappointed by how blown out it was.

#288 4 years ago

You 'are' aware that the original EATPM was a Translite done in Photographic Continuous Tone Color Process ( like a Kodak Picture Print ) right?

So we had to take a Continuous Tone Image and make it Pixelized, Now compound that with the High Limitations of Screen Printing at a Resolution that will actually allow Ink through the tiny Fabric Mesh to produce an image, and you get EATPM.

So Aurich, No matter how bad you bash CPR's work the Fact is this:
We provide the Best Product Possible with the Technology available to us at the time. If it doesn't meet your standards/approvals, then simply don't buy it. But there is no reason for you to bash our products in a public forum this way, all it does is hurt the sales of CPR, and with enough of that shit going on right now I'm surprised that we even still make parts for pinball. Continuing shitty comments & negativity like this is going to put CPR out of business > Then what the hell will people do for parts? Come to you? LMAO, Let's see "you" do better in a reproduction of the EATPM Backglass ( Glass NOT a Translite that you get from Kinkos ).

End Rant.

Quoted from Stu:

'Yes'. That's why I noted that it was an RGB to CMYK conversion. My translite projects use the same photographic process, I get the difference, no need to explain it.

I know you're really sensitive to every little perceived slight, but I'm not bashing CPR. You got on my case already when I reviewed the EATPM backglass, claiming that me being honest was hurting CPR's sales. Sorry, but describing your product accurately and giving a review of it (positive and negative) isn't bashing, and if people don't want to buy it because you let some of the details vanish to white I can't help that. It bothers me that you're trying to silence me again from simply speaking some basic truths. Either stand behind your product or don't. Telling people to be quiet about defects so that you don't lose sales is disingenuous.

I didn't complain that the color accuracy wan't perfect, anyone who understand RGB -> CMYK conversion knows that's impossible. You can't do anything about the dithering and fine detail either, I get that. My complaint was that you washed out the area around Elvira to white. The steps behind her just vanished, she's got a white halo of fog now. That has nothing to to do with color conversion, nothing there was impossible to print in CMYK, it could have been fixed easily with some masking. You chose to not pay attention to that and it is what it is. Don't get mad at me for it, I didn't do it. Anyone with eyes can see it.

I have a lot of other CPR products that I've very happy with. Hell that same EATPM had brand new CPR plastics installed, looked great, was glad to buy them. I have nothing against CPR. I have nothing against you either for that matter, expect that any time someone says anything you don't agree with you flip the hell out and turn into the worst company spokesman possible. Maybe put another layer of tape on your avatar or something, you do more damage for CPR than anything anyone else says.

But by all means, pick a fight if it makes you feel better.

I am NOT a "spokesperson" for CPR...I'm a Partner and the Art Director, nothing more. I get singled out as a 'spokesperson' all the time because I'm the only one of the 3 of us Partners that regularly visits the forums, but I am NOT a 'spokesperson' for CPR, I am NOT Customer Service either, that would be Kevin.

Ok, so you, the Consummate Pinball Professional, believe that you are Qualified ( professionally ) to do "Reviews" of other peoples products? LOL You have the "right" to post your "Personal Opinions", as does anybody, but really, who are you trying to fool, all you do is nit-pic about everything you can find during a "Where's Waldo" session. You may not like what we do, as I'm sure others don't like our products as well, but that's ok, we still sell our products to those people that actually NEED them and are Gratefull to CPR for making these products....Even WITHOUT your Crapy "REVIEWS" that nobody seriously cares about. If they did care about those 'reviews' we wouldn't sell out of everything....So why even do reviews, Do you really think that people can't look at the Same Picture you look at and make a judgement call for themselves about whether or not to purchase it???? I think you do these 'reviews' just so you have someone to talk with on the forums.....

More tape??? Do you have any idea of how many people would come down on you if I "stopped posting CPR stuff" and named you as the reason why?

Quoted from Aurich:

expect that any time someone says anything you don't agree with you flip the hell out and turn into the worst company spokesman possible. Maybe put another layer of tape on your Avatar or something, you do more damage for CPR than anything anyone else says.

#291 4 years ago

Whatever Stu. Tell everyone that you're not posting because I hurt your feelings because I thought it was okay to review something I bought, I'm sure that will go over awesome. I'm done with this conversation. Your fragile ego isn't my problem.

If anyone cares here's my review of the EATPM backglass: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ann-new-cpr-backglass-now-available/page/2#post-1814950

My conclusion: "I'm happy, I'm glad I bought it, and I appreciate the effort from Stu and CPR. Just wanted to give my honest thoughts to anyone on the fence so you won't walk into something and end up disappointed if it's not right for you."

Apparently that's considered bashing.

Anyone add the Medusa interactive head as a topper to their machine?

The guy I purchased my machine from has this installed. He tool the wire from the head and ran into the back of the cabinet and attached it to a switch in the outhole. Every time the ball goes into the outhole it triggers the head!

You can purchase them on Amazon!

I have one of those medusa heads on mine but have it sound activated. The voice is anoying so I disconnected it and also removed the led from the mouth as it looked crap. Picked it up for next to nothing in local supermarket ( Tesco ) in post haloween sell off.

Yeah it can be annoying but the guy that I purchased the machine from ran the wire to the outhole and put a switch in there. This way it's only activated when the ball goes into the outhole.

Just joined the club, and love the game - my first pre-1990s machine.
I have an issue with my flippers where if I hold my right flipper button in, and then press the left flipper button, all power is lost to the upper left flipper (verified with DMM). Also, the switch test says switch 41 (upper flippers EOS) is stuck closed.
The upper flippers work fine other than this anomoly and a visual inspection of the EOS switches didn't find anything obvious.
Any ideas what to do next?
