If you mean the tiny railings, they were tested with balls thrown directly at them So they should be able to take any airball the game could produce.

They're printed separately on their sides, so they're strong and can be flexed and spring back to position (glued 7.5mm deep into the main platforms). Prepped and finished to leave no 3D printed appearance (aim for the whole set of course).

Past experience showed me that most prefer to buy full sets anyway, which helped make this a cohesive set from the start, and as this one is larger assemblies rather than individual pieces, it will only be offered as a full set.

Other details:

The back-right assembly that the teaser shows most of is about 11" wide, 5.5" tall and 9" long (nearly 20" long once attached to the rest of the right side).

That back wall itself is only 6.5mm thick, which made for a challenge in creating the gate effect, but it was important to me to keep it slim for a nice appearance.

The left side platforms, Deprivation Tank, and camera/laser are all one fully assembled piece.

Despite the size, installation is super easy.

The set is entirely based off of the scene/room Eleven opens the gate in.

Those that have the popular left ramp loop mods (arcade machine, spinning signs, light wall, etc.) should be able to keep them there if they want, as I didn't take up that space. Though those may block some of the laser path (not a huge element as it can be hard to see with the other game lights at times, but a bit of added metaphor/story connection to the set).

The Deprivation Tank itself was based off of several sources (including watching slo-mo scenes more times than I could guess ), and while not 100% to the show, as that wouldn't have looked right or fit properly in the game, it does have several very faithful elements, and the glass isn't 3D printed.

Some had asked me to include Demogorgans and such in the set, but that was an IP barrier I didn't want to cross. Though there is a small monster/demo element.

Indeed, though off the shelf toys tend to look out of place.

There's certainly an advantage to custom designs that are able to take proper visibility and game scaling/geometry into account.

Zach got his set in a couple days ago, and I'd prefer to let him have the chance to reveal the rest when feasible (I got the set to him later than I hoped).

Some chance I'll add one more piece to the set in the future, but it wouldn't be for the initial release if it does happen (for the left ramp loop space I avoided this time around where many have other mods).

Pricing will be a chunk less than AMH or the full RZ set, but hoping to get a small run complete soon to have a better idea of where I need to be on them.

It can be difficult to get through a list via PM if many don't respond (usually not the case, but ~50% for TMNT when taken too early). Holding off until all details are known will help create a more reliable list.

For clarity, I posted the teaser clip (and reveal estimate) before asking Zach if he'd like to do the reveal/install video, so while June 30 is the target if possible, it's only fair to allow Zach to get to it whenever it's convenient, especially with the TS4 release and getting him his set later than I hoped (I reworked many pieces of the set after the teaser and was sick for about ten days, which slowed me down).

I'm behind where I'd like to be all around, so I need the extra time regardless ahead of reveal.

One note on the deprivation tank, is that the coloring is a more aged/ruined version, largely metal in appearance, with some remnants of white paint showing to give the idea that it was worn down to the metal (hand wheel on top is still colored similar to the show). Glass is fully intact, and you can see inside the tank when lit.

I had experimented with other paint schemes, including as it's seen in the show, but it looked out of place that way.

Seemed fitting regardless for a post-opened-gate version in a more ravaged lab.

I may not have mentioned previously that there's a trail of blood that follows the ball paths, as well as parts of the railings.

As noted above, Zach wasn't given fair warning to meet that deadline, but he went above (to infinity?) and beyond to make it happen (currently in the editing stages).

I'm as excited as everyone else to see the reveal video I'm always impressed with the effort Zach puts into his content.

***Pricing is planned to be $650 + shipping***. A set currently takes ~16 hours to make (not counting print time). I'll be hoping to have full time help on these to make ~5 a week if possible (also hoping to reduce production time as the process becomes more familiar/streamlined for us). I started training Marissa on painting these last week (still tied up with Elvira).

No piece of this set is a bare 3-D printed part, and a chunk of the time that goes into the set is toward masking any 3-D printed appearance, and several paint stages for the detailed parts.

While I'll have to skip Pro models early on until I get a test set out, to make it as fair as possible to Pro owners, I'll take interest on the list in order it's received, so I can get back to those Pro owners that were earlier on the list once available.

So when claiming interest in the set, please note if it's a Pro or Premium, and also if you have the UV kit or not (UV kit just lets me know if I need to include a nut/screw).

The best way to secure the next spot on the list would be to copy/paste the previous list and add yourself. I could clean up any issues later on if necessary.

PMs are an option, but if the mod is popular, I may not see a PM soon enough to know where to place it.

While being further down the list will affect how quickly I get to that set, as there's no hard limit, nobody that's currently interested in a set would miss out if they have time to wait. I have yet to decide if I'll cap the list in batches. Elvira had a huge list with nearly 100% retention down the line, and I sense STh is a game most won't sell. I also won't send second messages this time around if I don't get a response (though would bump anyone up that got skipped if they got back to me later on).

As with many previous sets, these should be available for 2-3 years before being discontinued.

As for the time I chose, I thought 8:30PM EST would give the most people a fair shot, figuring it lines up when many on the west coast may get home from work. Unfortunately there's no perfect time when considering all locations.

Next release may be tackled differently if this doesn't work well.

For what amounts to plastic and lights, they are indeed expensive, but the value is there for the work/time that goes into the set.

Realistically, the pricing doesn't consider the months of development without an income for that work, and I'll have to sell a chunk before I reach a baseline.

Even the AMH set that was $875 wasn't ultimately profitable after the unexpected amount of time they took and expenses (though I've seen the set add nearly $3k value to a game sale)...but I knew that one was a passion project going in, and justified it off the Elvira set doing so well.

Financially, it would be a far better decision for me to stick to small mods that have a higher margin, and are far easier to design with less to consider, but I believe the pinball community appreciates that I tackle some more ambitious projects as an option, and I hope to continue to improve going forward if there's support for it.

Ultimately, I can only imagine that the majority of people that have a secure job that affords them pinball machines, would be very fearful if they left that job to pursue pinball mods. It's certainly been an emotionally and mentally challenging roller coaster at times, but it's what I enjoy doing, despite the concern that a failure would leave myself and my hired help without an income, which would force me back to smaller mods in an attempt to recover.

I appreciate your response, and will gladly accept "atmospheric mods" (I haven't always hit that mark IMO, but mods with real feeling is the goal).

Sorry to learn about the job, but you're clearly very skilled from what I've seen (and I'm envious of your CAD skills ). It's easy to presume we're all doing well on Pinside from behind a screen, but I have immense empathy for everyone, and I hope we're all progressing positively in some way. Sometimes hardships are a necessary evil toward positive growth, even if not apparent at first.

As for cost, it's within the realm or lower than past mods of mine for the time involved, so it won't be a surprise for most. The full RZ set (developed between 2017-2019) was ~$770, or closer to the AMH cost with inflation (though the AMH set was significantly more difficult to craft and design).

ACNC was ~$500. STh is certainly more involved than a full ACNC, but less work than a full RZ or AMH. That said, there are details to the STh set that are beyond either in quality or thought.

It's also worth noting that I've fully supported my work with 100% compensation for anyone that has had issues, even if it's years later or they offer to re-buy, or if it was their fault (wrong power box on Spooky games ). Return shipping paid for repairs, or free replacements sent (redesigned when I learn of a recurring issue).

As I've considered making a master thread that people could follow to not miss out on releases (requested by several), it's info I'd likely put in the first post, so I figured this was an opportunity to save time down the road if I make that thread

Horror is indeed my preference, and I hope something comes along that allows and inspires something more gruesome than I've been able to create thus far.

I wouldn't be able to motivate myself to make mods just for money, so there will be some pattern to what I tackle (even something like TMNT holds strong nostalgia). I receive requests on every new game release, but if I don't have an emotional connection to the theme or what could be made, it just won't happen.

Reiterating here for tomorrow:

The best way to guarantee the earliest spot possible will be to post interest in the thread here after the list opens (a PM could make it hard to know fair placement if not seen quickly, while a post inherently keeps track).

Ignore the previous copy/paste instruction as that may just be confusing if these wind up being popular. I'll add everyone to the list afterward.

Just state model (Prem/LE or Pro) and if you have the UV kit or not (this just tells me if I need to include hardware).

It's correct that these won't be discontinued while there's a steady list or fair time-frame, so nobody that is aware of them within the next couple years will miss out.

When they are discontinued in the future, there will be a final run call to give a fair shot at them, but once discontinued, they will no longer be available. Inevitably some that acquire the game after that point won't be able to get them.

- Update -

It's been confirmed that the reveal/install video will be posted at 8pm on SDTM (in about 20 minutes), and the video is about 20 minutes long, which includes the install, so that should give fair time ahead of the list opening to decide.

The Pro version will have to have a different method to support the left side of the back wall, and finish the appearance of the left side of the power box, which is finished in appearance on the Prem/LE by the metal opto framing (couldn't block the opto path of course).

I've seen others have the Camaro in front of the flashers, which still works, and the spinning sign is often in the left ramp loop, which should also be fine (possible it will block the laser path a bit).

I will indeed include the screw/nut for those without the UV kit, at no charge, but as I expect the vast majority already have the UV kit, it didn't seem to make sense to include them for everyone.

I appreciate all of the interest thus far. I'll put the list together later tonight, and will start sending messages for the first batch sometime next week.

While the video suggests the mods are limited, and that will ultimately be true one day as I don't keep mods available indefinitely, there's no concern on missing out in the short term--if interested in a set now, you'll be able to get one, but these will take a fair amount of time to get through.

The rails are printed separately on their side, then assembled as deep as possible into the main platform. Each rail is prepped, primed, painted twice by hand (yellow is fairly transparent to paint with), given blood details, and clear coated. A bit tedious for otherwise minor details, but leads to a finish that doesn't show print lines.

Printed on the side for the rails means the lines run vertically when standing up, so they're quite strong...if they were printed the other way, they'd easily snap, but those long, vertical layers aren't coming apart.

Also, if balls manage to get onto the platforms, even the stair side will guide the ball down behind the front flashers.

Blown away by the overwhelming response on these. Thanks again to everyone for the support.

It's going to take a very long time to get through all of these even with full time help (many months), but we'll be doing what we can to improve the process as we go along (no shortcuts will be taken on quality, but I'll look into ways to save time either with new equipment, naturally getting more familiar with the process, a different method on the unduly time-consuming railings [already have a product to test], or additional temp help for simpler tasks).

Hard to believe so many are on the list. Again, the support is greatly appreciated and humbling (not sure it's all sunk in yet for me amongst the constant interest stream). Should anyone need to back out, just please let me know so I can remove you from the list.

A bit daunting to think of how long these will take to get through, but bear with me for a slower transitional start, and it will pick up as we adapt and improve efficiency, etc.. Elvira will also be discontinued by Sept., leaving 100% focus on these afterward.

As a side note, there are elements left to be experienced in person, such as the balls visibly passing under the flooring (satisfying IMO) and the tank/laser triggering during gameplay.

Also, the most immersive moment for me, is the wizard mode (particularly on the Prem/LE), as the large gate on the screen is brought to life when seeing it in the game, giving a sense of being inside that scene. The gate mod itself was designed as a hybrid between how it's seen not long after being opened and the fury it becomes before being closed.

And the laser is symbolic of the Demo/Tank moment, connecting a path from the triggered tank to the Gate (mostly mentioned in the reveal, but wanted to add clarity...though I also saw the laser as a synthwave-esque element [or reminiscent of the red/neon intro letters]). While the laser should ship in a scattered pattern, it is possible to adjust how it projects to personal preference.

While these will eventually be discontinued on a similar schedule to past mods (usually 3 years or less, and I always stick to my word once discontinued), Zach was mistaken in the reveal that there would be a hard limit to this set in the short term--it will be a very long wait at the back of the list, but anyone willing to wait will have the opportunity to get it.

As mentioned, I had considered temporarily capping the list similar to how gouveia does it (seems smart), but it wasn't set ahead of time, and we're well beyond that point, so I'll let it run. I just ask that anyone that changes their mind lets me know so I can take them off the list, and if I don't get a response within a couple days when nearing shipping, I'll move on rather than send another message (anyone that gets skipped can get back to me to get a set as soon as possible).

My last couple releases were hard limited, but for good reason in each case, and it's always possible I'll do something limited again in the future if it makes sense, but Stranger Things was always planned to be a standard release.

As the Pro model will be a lightly augmented Premium/LE model, it may be possible to safely remove the Pro additions to revert to a Premium/LE, but that hasn't directly been tested for at this point. Theoretically, I think it should be possible with some care.

Marissa (artist friend I hired) seems available to help me full time for this, so it wouldn't be near a year, but perhaps 6+ months from here for the 150s. Hopefully less if possible. Even one extra set per week over what I was estimating would make a big difference down the line.

Faced with the reality of the long list, I'll certainly be feeling out how to get through it quicker as we progress, even if that requires some additional temp help for simpler tasks. I'll of course want to have a plan toward freeing up time for whatever the next project is.

Thank you. And indeed. The peace of mind given by the response isn't taken for granted. Making the decision to discontinue 4 game sets in early 2021 to catch up, hiring help, then the unexpected time the limited projects took (and Elvira coming to an end soon), I left myself in an odd spot, but I'm very lucky to have the support here to be able to pursue something I'm passionate about.

Hard to say at the moment. With the current process, it takes me about 16 hours to make a set by myself, not counting print times, so it was a rough estimate that Marissa and I together could perhaps average one a day during the week, but that will improve with time, experience, and considering other methods or help to speed it up as we go along.

Intended to have a much better idea by now as a team effort, but we both got Covid after the teaser, had a couple more Elvira runs to finish, which will ship most of the last of today, and a family visit, etc.

As these are being sold as one set per person, a PM has been sent to clarify.

For those that appreciate transparency in regard to my thoughts (at times TMI), for perspective, I haven't been able to mentally get to the point of considering the financial gain side (though of course there has and will be considerable work/time/thought involved).

...in the face of all of the positive feedback and overwhelming support, I still step back in disbelief, thinking...*"Really? You guys really like what I've done?"*

The night before Zach's reveal, despite the many dozens of positive messages since the teaser, I was talking with my closest pinball friend on the phone (an extrovert with social abilities that blow my mind), and he couldn't understand when I was listing all of my fears--I was too close to the work/details to see anything other than what I could have done better (I would liken this to recording/mixing a song and hearing every detail on playback...unable to hear the "music").

When I say I'm blown away by a response, and am humbled, financial gain isn't where my mind is at. I'm terrified that the perception of my work has become greater than myself, and afraid that anyone may be disappointed.

To say I'm introverted would be an understatement (INFJ for those that care to know). I've evolved in a sense...since, but the response to Elvira was a spotlight bright enough to break me for awhile.

While I have yet to calculate international shipping (and USPS is set to raise prices on July 10), I do ship anywhere. I'll update the first post as I learn more about actual shipping costs (the domestic/US shipping cost to Zach was $23.10 before my box/packing expenses, and before the USPS price increase).

No UV kit just means I'll need to include a screw/nut for the install, so no harm in getting that and not ultimately needing it.

Here's the information from my receipt if it helps anyone get a rough idea on pricing with a calculator before box/packing costs:

I don't foresee an issue at a glance, but I've never owned a game with Pinstadium, so I'm not sure what clearance difference that may cause. The only area where it could be an issue would be near the tank and upper platform if if it sticks out/down too far.

Premium model levels the back-wall on the left side with the opto shroud (I notice on Zach's, that it isn't quite as high on the left, as my back panel is perfectly level, designed off my game--it's possible there's some room to move that factory plastic to accommodate the difference, or it could always be shimmed a bit to match my game--I'll be noting this in the paper instructions).

For the Pro, it will be supported elsewhere (one of two places in mind).

I'm not familiar with Shipnex, but FedEx/UPS here have generally quoted such a significantly higher amount over USPS for international that they weren't an option I'd expect most to accept.

However, I've been shipping similar value mod sets since 2018 through USPS with no issues, so I'm not too concerned.

If anything were to happen, I'll make it right at no cost to the buyer.

Despite the first shipped run plan to be five sets, we've been preparing a lot more of the smaller elements where possible for long term efficiency, and will help us bump up the # of sets for some future runs.

~40 gate inserts have been prepped and painted, ~35 stair sets prepped, assembled, and sanded, etc.

I have 250 lasers, and enough wiring/connectors ordered for about 250 sets.

Lasers start out as black/chrome, and are painted with enamel for the security camera appearance--two coats of beige for the body and black for the lens (leaving the face chrome).

For comparison, one photo shows the stock lasers near some lasers with one coat of beige and no lens paint.

Others show some fully painted lasers.

The metal wire cover gets cut later so the wiring can be routed into the deprivation tank to attach to the lighting inside the tank, where all of it is hidden from view.

Also pictured is the first batch of back walls painted by Marissa (she learns quick). Still need lights, circuits, wiring, the large platform attached (back wall there will be sanded down to the bare plastic before adhering), and backing.

Decals are currently hand cut, but I do have a cutting machine and will be planning to use that on future runs to save a lot of time in the long run. Decals are hand laminated and clear coated into the part.

Also purchased a 4" belt sander this week to help with the platforms, but unfortunately only helps on the 3 platforms that don't attach to the back wall. Still, it will save a chunk of time over the course of the 200+ sets, as the hand sanding takes a lot of time (will add a before/after photo of that tomorrow).

For those curious about the behind the scenes (either an interest in the process, or to learn from my mistakes )...

I redesigned the underside of the right platform earlier this week, which will also help save time (the running theme in mind for the week), though makes no difference in the final product.

The channel in it (for leveling) was done a couple times in later revisions, but my focus was on the result, rather than clean printing in mind.

A chunk of these parts were manageable, but one of the printers, despite all being the same model, didn't print as clean, and I'll likely scrap those.

A design flaw on my part essentially had the printer attempting to print mid-air in an undesirable way.

A simple fix was to cut the bridges a hair higher (part doesn't need to sit on more than a couple surfaces there anyway). This makes it bridge the gaps properly and leaves far less to clean.

These are cleaned with an exacto knife, so this also helps with safety.

Photo shows the underside of two uncleaned parts from the same machine--far less mess to struggle with to get the desired surface.

Other photo shows the top of a platform off the print bed, next to a sanded platform (starts with 120 grit, and finished with 320 grit)

Any stray filament underneath the bars also gets cleaned up afterward.

Prepping tanks this weekend to teach Marissa how to paint them on Monday.

Railings were spray tested this week as well with good results.

Currently working on the second run, which will be 7 sets, and the main walls for those sets will be complete today.

Unfortunately work had been on hold since mid-Friday when my home A/C bit the dust. Had people coming out Sat. and Monday, and no luck. Looking into a full replacement now (temp and/or humidity in the house also seems to be causing my printers to jam as three have failed [will relocate if the problem persists]).

Sorry for the delay. It's not indicative of the flow we'll have moving forward, and the second run will be ready soon after the first ships (first just needs the tanks finished [updated slightly since the reveal]).

Yes, that's how it will be updated as I get through the sets.

First batch will be PMd by tonight to ship on Friday, and hopefully run two shipping sometime next week.

Some in PM were curious about how the back panel is constructed, and here's the skeleton view before the backing is applied and the circuit is glued in.

Fortunately I was able to find 4mm wide LED strips to make the slim (6.5mm wall) spacing work (27 LEDS for the gate).

The circuit components (resistors and breathing effect) are in the void to the left.

Had bridged the gap with a portable A/C in the bedroom (rest of the house got up to 90+ at times), so I've been working by turning my bed into a table with a pinball box, and crammed the 3D printers in there as well

Looks like that set fits 100% as intended, and hopefully that's the case for most without any tweaking necessary.

Happy to learn that you also "feel" the difference in the left orbit--it's one of the aspects I was hoping would connect with others (something about the brief obstruction [allowing imagination to wander and perhaps assign an entity to the ball], factory spinner sound, and laser in sync [tracking the ball to an extent] that works well together)

One photo shows back walls ready for wiring for both run #2 & run #3. Other shows some wiring for ~250 sets (found backbox connectors with leads. but the flasher ones are hand assembled).

I'll send messages out sometime this weekend for run #2 (aiming to ship Tuesday).

These are taking a very long time to make (about 16 hours labor per set was the earlier estimate [with print time of ~35+ hours for each set--back wall assembly alone is ~20 hours to print with the platforms, railings, and gate.]). Unfortunately I don't see how 10 per week would ever be possible with just the two of us (and I likely need more machines regardless, which I'm working toward). I may also hire more help eventually to tackle sanding and prep if it works out. As it stands, I could see 7 a week being possible once adapted to, and more with additional help (I do have a friend available).

Will be a bit faster once Elvira sets are no longer being made alongside these (again, final run call on those by Sept.).

Aiming to find more ways to speed it up as we go along without reducing quality (as it's been thus far, these are a bit underpriced for the time/expense, but pricing won't change for anyone on the list, and it should hopefully work out as we further optimize).

So far, I've gotten a belt sander (though most sanding still has to be done by hand), updated a piece of the set for easier prep, saved time by setting up a cutting machine to cut the hazard decals (may set that up for the power box decal as well), changed to spraying the color for the railings (originally hand painted twice after primer), cut out one dark purple paint stage on the vines that couldn't be detected (still has a magenta stage, which was what could be seen in hand underneath the various yellow/pink highlights), and will be considering other things.

I also ordered a larger, faster printer (2022 model) to try out that should arrive today (may get another if it works out). That would bring me up to 6 good quality machines (7 if I get another), and two lesser ones for certain parts and prototyping (the ones that I used for everything up until Dec. 2019).

Aiming to find time to get into CAD on the Pro version this coming weekend and send something out for Pro testing once I get a modified version that works in my machine (already know what I'll do, but have needed to focus elsewhere, and the Pro model will add steps/parts/time...A/C issues slowed me down a lot as well).

I'll look into it, though smoothing and detailed painting is a large part of what helps break the 3D printed mod stigma, and it wouldn't be acceptable to me to leave bare prints with solid colors where painting makes sense.

I should update the instructions, as it would be worth noting that the laser projection can be adjusted to taste by spinning the lens clockwise.

It should look fine on any setting, but mentioning it here as it looks like yours could get a more dispersed array of beams if desired (hard to tell with the lights on around it).

I'll be working on the pieces for the Pro model tomorrow.

Marissa is out until next Wednesday, so overall progress will be a bit slower this week (though we just shipped 12 Elvira sets yesterday, which was last week's focus).

The current STh run is Prem/LE, but the following run will go back in order with Pros in the mix.

Back into full swing as of yesterday.

Eventually I'll post an update with a timeline prediction, but I likely won't have a clear idea until sometime in Oct. (once I can time a couple runs without Elvira sets in the mix, and by then I'll also have more help [have recently been rearranging the house, stacking printers, etc. to make it more practical for 3+ of us]).

Those that will ship from the current run will be messaged this weekend.

I ship to Germany, and anywhere that doesn't have a restriction.

Those with * will ship soon. Currently holding 4 sets back toward a distributor allotment of 5 that was promised early on.

At a glance, from player perspective, they'll look nearly identical.

Pro won't fit a Prem/LE, as it has the Power Box finished on the left side, where the metal opto cover finishes the look on the Prem/LE.

Prem/LE is also stabilized on the left by the opto assembly plastic. On the Pro, it's stabilized from underneath the middle platform.
