Hello,

The playfield on my MM has gone dark. No one was playing it. It just started that way. The DMD and tests work fine and goes to the pre game display. The game does not start because, I am sure, that the coin door has no power. The flippers, lights, coils... well... everything is dark on the playfield.

I have checked all the fuses and connections that I think apply to this, but I am bothered by how global this is. What would cause the entire table top to shut down and how do I test for it?

Thanks so much,

norman

Did you pull fuses and check with a meter ?

I would check the voltage test points on the power driver board and see if any are low or gone.

And look over the lower part of the head and make sure no connectors came off and are hiding in the lower parts.

I would reseat ribbon from cpu to driver board ($" one) see if that helps.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies. I will be working on the table today. I have done most of this but I have not checked the test points yet.

Thanks LTG. The question remains as to what fuse or connector could cause a complete blackout of the play field? I would love to recreate the issue on another table (there are a lot here).

Thanks again. I will let you know what happens.

Still no luck. All test points good. No power problems there. I re-seated the connectors under table to the playfield. I am guessing this is where the problem is but I am not sure how to test for it. All connectors are attached and the DMD acts like nothing is wrong.

I am going to try to disconnect the connectors under the table on another table to recreate the issue somewhere else. It really can't be a fuse issue as I would have to have many fuses out at the same time to make the entire table dark.

Quite the mystery,

do the coin door switches work? you can see the DMD working, can you press buttons and get into service mode? you said that it "tests" but then said the coin door dont work.. which sounds like playfield GI is dead.. which means that the playfield GI plugs are burnt.

your issue is conenctor.

also when your in "switch test" do the switches "test" ok? or nothing

nothing = connectors are all messed up
