Hi and thanks in advance,Just purchased and restored a MM,I got everything working fine and playing good except almost every shot up the left ramp ends up with the ball coming off the habitrail.First off I thought it was hitting the small red post under the habitrail, but not so.Then I thought it might be hitting the wizard plastic so adjusted that as far right as possible, not that either.Next I thought maybe the habitrail is bent/twisted so removed, inspected, altered.Still coming off!Now I was thinking flipper strength because I replaced everything flipper related, did I use coils that were to strong?Ball comes out of catapault and down habitrail fine and slow shot up ramp is fine but normal shot flies off habitrail just where the screw holds it down.Checked on internet for correct coil strength and saw that MM uses the strongest of the Williams coils,so now I don't think this is the problem either.Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating when trying to enjoy the fruits of my efforts especially when the ball comes off the habitrail and drains.

Mine had a similar problem after my initial restoration was finished. If it's falling off way early it's most likely not the habitrail itself but the transition from the plastic to the habitrail at higher speeds. Loosen the posts for the plastic ramp and see if pushing it back or pulling it forward helps the transition more.

Thanks,will try that after work.

I bought a restored MM with a new playfield and had the same issue that I could not correct, finally had to experiment with different coil springs to slow the ball down, other than that the only solution is to fabricate a rail out of a coat hanger and install coming out of the right hand loop(that's where mine went airborne), I put heat shrink tubing on it and you did not notice it, this was done before experimenting with different coil springs

Thanks tomtest.I am still thinking coil strength myself because the ball just seems to out of control,2 out of 3 shots at the "merlins magic"eject hole bounce back out or fly through without falling into eject hole.Interesting problem to have usually flipper strength is to weak!!!

Update-The other parts I ordered to finish the restore came yesterday,so I spent the day installing them. Now with a new left ramp the ball goes around the habitrail sweetly. Not sure if it is the new ramp or the angle it is installed but I am leaning towards the new ramp. Thanks again for all your input.

Quoted from FreeBee:

We fixed the problem by pushing the plastic ramp down that's attached to the habitrail. In the pic you can see a piece of rubber wedged between the two plastic ramps. This seemed sufficient enough to stop it from happening.Habitrail fix.jpg

Thanks, but like I said problem solved. The game didn't come out with piece of rubber so it shouldn't need one now.I was determined to solve the issue even though it was very frustrating.Try loosening the screws/nuts on the left hand ramp and adjusting its position slightly. If not back to piece of rubber,I too would do that rather than have the ball coming off.Cheers.
