I recently got a very good condition original MM. The catapult is very powerful and really moves the ball around the habitrail but that doesn't stop it getting jammed up if 2 balls end up in there. Whats the fix for this? I would imagine its a very common problem.

Obviously something is wrong here as I've read others say their MM can clear 2 balls in the catapult, watching my video it looks like its impossible as the 2nd ball is never inline with the rail, just resting against the first ball. Got to be a setup problem somewhere?

Set the catapault strength to +1 in the menu. The is the solution for MMR, I do not know MM...

If I'm not mistaken, I have heard to remove the one way gate.

This happens to my MMRLE about 1 out of 10 games...its never been an issue...I would up the catapult strength and see if that corrects the problem

mine are set at factory settings, and it has no problems clearing the balls.

Closely look at the wireform the catapult launches the ball into. Look for wear spots on the bottom rails. It could be launching the ball at the wireform, rather than through it.

If so, you'll need to gently bend the area where it is worn, down a bit so the ball gets through easier.

Thanks for the replies guys, obviously there is no power setting. LTG, I tried bending the rail down, made no difference. A single ball enters the rail opening perfectly going nowhere near the bottom of the opening and riding the rail fine. If you watch my slow motion video you'll see that with 2 balls the 2nd ball hits straight into the bottom of the opening, both balls are trying to enter the rail opening at the same time, not one behind the other, so impossible. Is the catapult arm supposed to sit lower so the 2nd ball can get on top of the first? I've looked at the mechanism and looks fine.

Put a new or stronger coil in.... worth a shot

Thanks but I don't see how that would help, just going to slam the bottom ball into the bottom of the rail opening harder. Also its REALLY fast with 1 ball, it's not like its weak. Both balls are trying to enter the rail at the same time. Can someone with an MM confirm for me how 2 balls sit on the catapult arm please?

When MM does manage to clear 2 balls does it shoot them together around the rail or manage to get them out one at a time?

#14 6 years ago

One at a time. I also sometimes have it on my MM. It'll keep on retrying and fail often (as you notice yourself) but after a dozen times or so, one ball will roll in another position (it may bounce a bit longer around) so the first ball in the catapult can be shot out correctly.

Thanks again for replies. The answer was the opposite of what LTG suggested, my rail opening was too low not too high, so I raised it up with a few washers. Now it may take a few attempts but it does manage to clear the balls out. Thanks all.

one at a time....

Future reference.

Do not bend the rail by hand, use a jig.

Start by looking for burrs on the habitrails, and use a hand file. You will know if you find them.

Next check for broken welds and rail bends.

Adjust the sensitvity of the microswitch.

This assumes everything is already working at least in function.

Installing a stronger coil is NOT a good idea.
