    Quoted from cottonm4:

One day you will get tired of toying with them and see that are a waste of your time.
My new approach is answer the call and remain silent and see if the other side speaks. After 5 seconds the scammer will hang up.
I'll see if this works. Nothing has been working so far and, as you note, without any prosecution nothing will change.

This is a great approach, if you noticed there’s a ticking/tapping sounds when you answer scam calls and then it suddenly kicks over to the Hindi/Paki call center.
They use robo-callers to call literally every number, then when answered it listens for your response. If there is silence it usually strikes your number off the list. There’s a certain way they figure out if it’s a business or a private residence, and it will mark that number as active.
The silence method works the best. By far. Ignoring does nothing, they already know the line is a legit number because it rings through.
I’ve had my phone number for over 8 years now, and it was a good one thankfully that never had any baggage tied to it. I NEVER got spam calls. About 2 years ago they started, and that was when I used to give my number to stores and other bullshit like that. After using the silence method for several months, I have gotten fantastic results.
I’ve gotten a single spam call last month, and 2 the month before.
Also I automatically decline or block any number that is similar to my own. That’s a different trick they use to make you think “that number is familiar to me, better answer it”
Yeah it’s familiar because it’s your own number but mixed up! If your number is 321-4123 you’ll get a call from 432-3125 or some crap.

It was awful at my old job, we were required to answer all calls and greet them. The amount of spam calls we got was horrendous. If it’s a business then you’re gonna have a rough time. Maybe pay for truecaller or send them to voicemail and have the instructions to leave a message if you need something and you’ll immediately call them back.
