I am working on a Data East Maverick and the left flipper on occassion is sticking up during game play. This is normally after the machine warms up and has had a couple of games.

What I have noticed is, if I open the coin door during a game the flipper hold voltage (measuring just over 6volts) is on and I can see the left flipper twitching a little. The right flipper also has voltage applied at the same time although doesn't twitch due to the 2 flippers on the right hand side.

To date the following steps have been undertaken.
- Change coil diodes
- Try 3 different flipper boards (2x brand new)
- Replaced relay, Q80, diode, C47 / C48, D24 and R107 / R108 (resistors were reading low although were fine) on CPU.

Has anyone else seen this type of concern before and are there any tips on where to look next.

Quoted from martymart:

The flipper button switch. The leafs sticking together ? Metal dust between the leafs on the fiberboard spacers shorting them together ?

Just to keep eliminating things, worth a look.

I will check that next. I did have a look and nothing stood out although will have a better look soon.

I have just checked the switches and they look fine.
I have noticed that this is only occurring in game play as I cannot replicate it in any test mode or attract mode.

As an update I disconnected the switches just to be 100% sure there is no switch issue.

Even with the switch disconnected I am getting voltage at the flippers and twitching on the left flipper.

I will continue to work through this and provide any further information.

Just a further update. I have tested the voltage at the coils and I am getting 1-8v in attract mode and during gameplay it is running around 6v which is enough to twitch the coil. I am also getting voltage on the right flippers although looks to be split across the 2 coils so it is not noticeable.
I am guessing maybe an issue on the MPU although will need to look at it.
As a note the led on the flipper board that lights up when the flipper button is pushed is not lighting up.
Has anyone else seen this issue before.
