I was hoping someone would start a fan thread as I love this machine. I might need that mod for speeding up the Lauren Belle though, as my paddle wheel goes a bit too slow and triggers ball search if the ball doesn't get scooped up straight away. It doesn't really bother me too much as I just hold the flipper for a few seconds and this stops it from happening.

#24 10 years ago
Quoted from Atomicboy:

That doesn't sound right at all... There is a rubber ring/belt to the wheel from the motor, and a large gear/round plastic wheel. When I shopped mine, I took all this apart, the paddle wheel, this gear, cleaned everything, and synthetic lubed where the gear attaches, and I believed I noticed a difference in the speed slightly after.

It could be your gear box underneath is just gummed up, but this might be worth a try. Maybe the rubber ring needs replacing.

Mine is I'm guessing 4-5 seconds from when it enters until it's spit out into the boat to lock. This depends on if the ball enters the wheel are when an opening is there, or if it has to turn a bit for the next opening to come around.

I recently installed a new motor and belt and cleaned and lubed bits that needed it but it didn't fix the issue although it's nice and quiet and slightly faster. I'll keep searching for the problem.(I have a thread regarding this).

Does anyone know how many Data East's and how many Sega's were made?
I like the way the Sega version has 'Sonic the Hedgehog' on their display and a realistic image of the stars of the movie...I'd like to get this for my Data East...is it possible with a software upgrade?

#46 10 years ago
Quoted from Atomicboy:

I wasn't even aware there were two versions... Is there any physical differences or stickers, or just rom versions for the display?

I thought the only difference was the display software but I could be wrong...mine doesn't display the characters in the movie and of course has the Data East logo and no Sega and Sonic. The shooter knob on my Data East has 'DE Maverick Casino'...did that change on the Sega models?

I also read somewhere that around 7000 machines were produced but not sure how many by each company.

I love it! I was thinking of putting mirror blades on mine but the ramp on the left is sooo close to the wood, I wasn't sure they would fit without scratching. Is yours a thin vinyl? I have the twin white led's in my spotlights and the shield is a great idea to focus away from the eyes.

I have the clear cover on the right hand side that follow the shape of the ramp. I don't think I could ever launch the ball hard enough to make it necessary to stop a wayward ball, but I like to leave things as they are otherwise I'll just misplace the parts...

Does anyone here hate super laser kicker as much as me? Any other game it would be god sent, but with the best vid mode out there, I actually want to have to relight it as mucch as possible.

I don't mind it...have you ever lost the ball down the middle & had the ball kick back in from the left lane?
Nice...

#116 9 years ago

Speaking of lane drains, I wish the callout wasn't cut short due to the bonus being collected..."you put me out of the...", or "as soon as you're busted your...". The only callout you won't miss is "Bust"!

I needed new coin reject button inserts for my Maverick coin door, so I made some that I think fits the theme of the game.

They're sized to fit right in the reject button, about 1.17" x 0.63"

Here is the image file in case anyone else needs some.

They look sweet! Any chance of making up a $1 insert on account of us not having 25c coins in oz?

Finally! Got in the Poker Championship! ...of course it was 5-ball, but it was a tough for me.

Nice...I've never got close

I've only seizured a few times from my led's Since this pic, I've changed all the playfield rubbers including flipper ones to black.

Quoted from crujones4life:

There should only be one. Mine has none however. Hard enough to hit with none.

I never knew there was only one. Mine broke off and I cheated and split a plastic straw and put it around the metal posts...nice and thin and way easier to hit that ball!

#224 9 years ago
Quoted from billsfanmd:

paddle wheel seems to slip when weight of ball in it. Ordered new belt. Easy to swap? Looks like paddle wheel lowers under pf.

Does it slip all the time or just a slight hesitation when the ball is picked up? Mine has new motor and belt & still hesitates slightly when the ball is picked up.

Yes, the paddle wheel section is easy to remove under the playfield.

#229 9 years ago
Quoted from wayout440:

Mine doesn't hesitate at all when the ball enters. My friends Cyclone's ferris would stutter when the weight of the ball hit it, though.

Yeah, that's exactly what mine would do...'stutter' is a better way to describe it rather than 'hesitate'.

Quoted from billsfanmd:

New belt solved issue. Def a tighter fit. Game is now 100 %

Excellent.

Quick...go and set it up and have a few games

Quoted from Flippermatt:

1, Firing off the ball. There is no way the ball can make it past the skillshot holes and all the way up and around the ramp. I have installed a new plunger. Doesn´t work.

I bought a complete shooter mechanism and had the same problem. It looks like they put too many washers on the thing and it doesn't allow you to draw it back far enough.Take a few off and it should be better.

Quoted from Flippermatt:

The Lauren Belle starts to make noises after approx 10 minutes. The gears that drive the belt start to cough, make sudden stops and don´t turn smooth. I have greased the gears, the axel and shafts.

I don't think you're supposed to grease those gears. They gunk up pretty quick, so you're better off getting all the grease off. Maybe a few drops of something like sewing machine oil but a lot of people say don't do anything to the gears. I think there's a felt pad on the motor that's supposed to be oiled.
Sorry, I don't know much about the opto issue as I still have the original ones.

Also how the heck do you hit the captive ball on Maverick? I've tried to make it bounce or rebound off things, but it seems impossible to hit.

Take the rubber off the post in front of the captive ball...but then it's nearly too easy

By design, there is only supposed to be one black rubber on the rear post of the captive ball. I still find it anything but easy.

Yes there's only one rubber; that's why I said 'rubber', not 'rubbers'.
Take the rubber off and see how you like it...you can always put it back on
