My Williams Flash control lamps do not light. At first I thought it was an issue with the connector to the boards but they seem to be solid. Furthermore, all the control lamps are out. I am assuming if it were a connector issue, some of the lamps would light and only the loose wires wouldn't. Does this make sense?

Upon further exploration I traced the wires under the playfield. In doing so I found one of the Molex connectors to be hot to the touch. I took it apart to check it out. I found something interesting but not sure if it is relevant:

The male side has 17 wires/connections, the female side has 18 wires going in. I couldn't find any loose or dangling wires to be connected. Could this be my problem? Does anyone have a picture of a similar working Flash Molex connector for me to compare to mine?

It wouldn't surprise me that one side wasn't stuffed with the identical number of wires. WMS might have made use of a "standard harness", or may have made changes during the production run.

But, that connector isn't the problem.
If you have no lamps, the first step is to pull the lamp fuse out and buzz it with your DMM.

Fuse is good.

What next?

I bought the machine not working so no real idea where to start. And I am very new to this. This Flash is my first SS machine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

We don't have a section for WMS System 3-7 lamp matrix testing yet, but it would be the same as used for System 11 games. Look here...

Just test a few of the lamp column/row circuits. We just want to see if ANYTHING is coming out of the lamp matrix connectors.

Spade contact on the backbox mounted bridge. Do you have +18v going into the driver board?
