I bought a Mata Hari off of a friend last week. He said he hadn't had time to look at it but it wouldn't boot. The board was a victim of some pretty heavy battery corrosion that someone had tried to fix. I was only getting 2 flashes; I found the RAM chip was missing the ground so I fixed that and then I got to the 6th flash. I replaced a few resistors and got it to boot but had a quite a few switches that weren't working and intermittent pop bumper activation when hitting the switch.
My friend gave me another board that I swapped the cpu chip into and tried but I only get the initial flicker when I turn the power switch on. I read that I should replace the U6 chip. Is this where I should start? I could try and reseat if this is a socketed chip or if not I could pull the one off the battery damaged board and install on my new board. Does that sound like a good plan of action or is there anything else or different that would be recommended first?
