Hi all
My game is going into test mode during game play. to be very clear on this the game is shutting down and flashing the playfield lights just as is if you pushed the self test button on the inside of the coin door. The obvious culprit would be a short on the coin door but no I started the and disconnected the harness to the coin door and it still went into fail mode. Or flash mode. I can reproduce this fail when I slap the right flipper a number times. I can slap the heck out of the game and it does not fail.

The top pin of the lower right connector on the MPU is where the test button is connected to.
After you start a game, you can remove that connector, play a game, and see if the failure can be reproduced.

I cut the top wire of the lower right connector. just to be clear J3 The test button still works so this must be the wrong wire.

the schematic shows that's the correct terminal. You did remove it from the upper left MPU board I hope. (other boards have a "J3" connector as well)

Can you provide a picture of the board ?

This is confusing my j3 connector is on the bottom right.you are talking about the upper left. I cut the wire on the bottom right J3 , the top wire

you have the correct connector

you cut the red wire with the yellow tracer (color code "13")

pin 1 on the J3 connector shows a color code of a solid red wire "10"

ChrisHibler stated to "remove the wire" from the connector .... on the other side of that connector there is a little window you can push the tang in to remove the crimp

Quoted from chas10e:

Exactly right @chas10e, the wire color should have been red. It looks like you cut the wire at pin 2, which will make some of the cabinet switches inoperative.

Why did you cut the wire? The advice was to remove the entire connector.

So yes, I cut the wrong wire. Why? sometimes I can be a dumbass. I also forgot you can push in on the side of the connector to release the pin.
So here is the story, I did release the pin up top. It still went into fail mode. I bought new alltek mpu and solenoid boards for the unit. It fixed it but I swapped in each board separately and it failed in weird ways so both boards wear corrupt . Solved
Thank You all
