Scored some crazy good deals at larger local auctions, especially pre-ebay, pre-Pinside. There can be too many pinball machines, all at once, for the local market. Most guys show up with their pickup or van and only have room for a couple of pieces.

Great to see so much stuff. I'd go if it were closer. For good or bad, the publicity from this Pinside post should have buyers coming from all around the area. Missed more than a few auction lots while chatting with fellow collectors at these sales.

Unbelievably scummy move by the auction house. Guys will try to outbid each other, when they are actually chasing after different pinball machines.
There should be a thread for tales of bad auction experiences, if there is not one already.

Quoted from NicoVolta:

They’re doing “buyer’s choice”. Ffffffffffffffff.
Five at a time. Highest bidder gets first choice and can optionally buy 1-4 more at same price.
Bidding then continues for the rest. Not a fan... but oh well.

Heard these machines had been stored on pallets in the owners warehouse. Wondering if the owner got to enjoy playing any of them. Perhaps the good games have yet to surface, and this was the "B" stock. If so, where is the good stuff.

The Gottlieb Pro Football still sports a $1400 price tag, and sold for half of that (before fees). There could have been allot of money tied up in this accumulation.
