Public Service Announcement!

160 pinballs spanning from 1934 to 1989 are going to be auctioned off in Tulsa on 2/18/18 at 2pm (preview at noon). This was some guys collection that died and his family has commissioned an auction company to get rid of them all. There is no reserve and no buyers fee but the pins have to be removed within a week unless other arrangements are made. I am not affiliated with the auction company - they found me through a friend of a friend deal and I agreed to throw it out on Pinside/Mr Pinball/etc.

I asked the owner of the auction company if they would allow remote bidding and he said that if anyone was interested in doing that, to contact him directly via text/phone. His name is Jay and his # is 918.639.7653.

I was allowed access to the games to take pictures. From what I understand, these games were in dry storage. I didn't see any water damage, critter damage, smoke damage or anything like that. I also didn't see any touch ups or attempts at any sort of restoration. They are simply raw games that look very complete - I didn't even see a single coin door missing (they don't have keys to most of them and they haven't been opened when I took the pics). The bulk of the EMs were powering on fine and most will even play. Most of the cabinets were better than I would have expected, I didn't witness many wear spots on the playfields (except the Star Trek was pretty worn) and the backglasses were as expected - some were phenomenal, a few were toast but most looked good.

I have limited access, but if anyone has specific questions - PM me and I'll try to get an answer or a picture of what you need. I'll visit the pins again this weekend. You are also welcome to text/call Jay - but he has limited pinball knowledge.

Auction location is:
Fontana Shopping Center
7924 E. 50th St.
Tulsa, OK 74145

And here are the pins (let me know if any dates/mfg are wrong and I'll correct):

...and that's it.

A few still weren't set up when I took the pics (5 or 6). I'll try to get those this weekend.

#22 6 years ago

Ok, someone with a lot more knowledge than I ballpark the value of this collection for me. Hundreds of thousands? More?

#23 6 years ago

There are a few gems in there, but for the most part, it's a who's who list of games appearing on your local Craigslist for $200 OBO.

Impressive bredth of games all in one place though! Thanks for taking time to photograph and share it all.

#24 6 years ago

Very nice, can't believe how many pictures you posted. If I was closer I would have to bid on the Mars God od War.

#25 6 years ago

F14 is the best of the list

#26 6 years ago

What a cool collection. I love the backglass on Stampede.

160 games average price $500? thats $80,000. not even a hundred thousand let alone hundreds.

#28 6 years ago

Quite a few nice ones there!

#30 6 years ago

Some gems for sure.
Looks like a one way plane ticket, wad of cash. Then pick right sized uhaul for trip home.
Thanks for letting us all know and posting pics.

Dang, I used to live in Tulsa. Not a pin to be found, I guess this dude had them all.

#32 6 years ago

Remarkable piece of pinball history!

#33 6 years ago

Hopefully my local crackball suppier won't go to this auction. I would hate to get a divorce.

#34 6 years ago

Doing the lords work with those pictures. Thanks so much!

Sittin Pretty looks nice.

$150 each = $24,000. I doubt the local market can absorb 160 pins. You add $300 shipping and almost none are worth getting. It's a fine collection. I bet you'll see a bunch of them at TPF for $950 each. Xerico will probably have a whole row of them for sale.

#37 6 years ago

Very cool. Some nice games there. Wish they would hold them and auction them at TPF, would be awesome.

#38 6 years ago

As a collector that has limited room I wonder, What does a game room that holds 160 pins look like? Forgive me if you posted that but what did the building look like?

Thanks for the pictures. Will be sure to not share with my wife as she would see how bad it could get.

#40 6 years ago

Double wow.

#41 6 years ago

My wife would kill me for sure but I am still looking at the math for a 2400 mile round trip. It wouldn't be the craziest thing I have ever done and isn't likely even in the top ten craziest things I have ever considered! I need help!!!

my advice would be to slow your roll a bit ... you don't know what these games will be going for. i've never been to an auction, but don't you have to pay an extra 20% on top of whatever your winning bid ends up being? and the mechanical condition (or even completeness) of these games is also an unknown.

#43 6 years ago

I imagine the Fontana shopping center hasnt seen this much action since the grand opening of Planet Fitness.

Wow! Thanks for posting the pics.

#44 6 years ago

Hey, ForceFlow there is your chance at a 1975 Super Flipper. Could be less than 10 remaining in North America.

Normally something like that, but the OP said no reserve and no buyers fees.

my advice would be to slow your roll a bit ... you don't know what these games will be going for. i've never been to an auction, but don't you have to pay an extra 20% on top of whatever your winning bid ends up being? and the mechanical condition (or even completeness) of these games is also an unknown.

I'm onto you Pez. You just don't want to wade through eight more threads discussing an upcoming marketplace listing, chastising people for pm'ing asking for details, then complaining about how mean this community is.

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

$150 each = $24,000. I doubt the local market can absorb 160 pins. You add $300 shipping and almost none are worth getting. It's a fine collection. I bet you'll see a bunch of them at TPF for $950 each. xerico will probably have a whole row of them for sale.

I would buy every one of them for $150 each as a bulk deal, so I think that's a bit low.

It all depends on turnout of course, but I think they'll see an average of $400. I would guess 20+ of these will go over $1000, but yea - there will be some bargain $150 games too.

Keep in mind there will be non-pinball people here too and they tend to pay more than we do not knowing how much more time and $ is required.

Quoted from andrewket:

Ok, someone with a lot more knowledge than I ballpark the value of this collection for me. Hundreds of thousands? More?

If we are talking value for insurance purposes, I would estimate $1k per game, so $160k of "retail value".

OMG!
To add to this post.... The most over used statement on Pinside, but it is correctly used here, 'Wish I Was Closer!'

NO joke, I see a few that are on my short list.
