Quoted from raisindot:Gabe (the Pintastic NEmeister) has had a GOT Premium installed at the Games Underground arcade at the Natick Mall for several months. He also has a MET Premium (or maybe an LE? I don't know the difference) and a Jurassic Park there. I alone probably account for at least 25% of the income the GOT Premium generates every week. But no more, since I'm getting a GOTP as my one and only pin.
Gabe has lived up to his promise and replaced the MET at Games Underground (which I never liked anyway) with a Ghostbusters. Just when I thought I wasn't going to be pumping bucks into arcade machines anymore, he drags me back into it.
Quoted from embryonjohn:Salem Willows even has a row of EMs and don't forget Bunghole lickers... I mean liquors

Just saw this article about Lanes and Games...
http://www.universalhub.com/2016/developer-proposes-new-residents-buildings-near?nocache=1
Is there anything that locals can do to support the venue? That would be a terrible loss!
That's very sad. I never use the bowling alley but the arcade has the best selection of well maintained pins in the metro Boston area.
Somehow, however, I doubt that there's anything that people can do to stop this. In the vast schemata of city life, bowling alleys are rarely considered to be vital contributors of goodness to communities. Especially not in a place like Cambridge.
Hopefully Mike will find another place to house his fabulous collection....
Quoted from Nokoro:Just went to Canobie Lake Park.
We almost went last weekend. What was general admission to the park? We ended up going to Pinball Wizard in Pelham. WOUld have been nice to play some new machines.

$38 per person.
I was at Pinball Wizard Arcade yesterday before the Weird Al show in Lowell. Great show by the way. PWA doesn't have a GB so it was nice to find one at Canobie. TH at PWA also had a few issues but I enjoyed playing it. Their GOT Pre was in nice shape.
Quoted from Nokoro:TH at PWA also had a few issues but I enjoyed playing it.
Yes! TH is not much fun to play at PWA, since day one! This had been my only exposure and I was not terribly impressed, especially at $1.25/pop.
However, Earlier this week I made a visit to the Siverball Museum in Asbury Park, NJ while on my way to visit a new client in Cherry Hill, NJ. Their Hobbit was fast and fun with none of the issues seen at PWA. At $15/day freeplay, I got a TON of games on it in a row. I must say, I have replaced my weak initial impressions. Likewise for WOZ, much more fun than I thought from PWA.

Just so everyone knows, my son plays hockey at New England Sports Center ( by Solomon Pond Mall, within sight of the 495 and 290) and they have a GB and an always nice Junkyard in the arcade. I'm going to regret telling everyone this. There's never anyone on the machines.
Quoted from albummydavis:I'm going to regret telling everyone this. There's never anyone on the machines.
Noted. I'll be right down!
Quoted from mattmarr:Hey Mitch, how the f*ck am I supposed to get GC on your GOT if you have the outlanes open?!? My 3.7M was just an unlucky bounce away from being a 3.7B.
Thanks for coming in to FTJ's! I opened up the outlanes for our last Pinbrawl, but I can close them up a bit if you like.
Bowen will be very disappointed if you take down his GC score...

Well, I can't disappoint Bowen. I went to L&G once and put up what I thought was a ridiculous score on the SM there. Then, I saw the Bowen GC.
Keep it up Bowen, all it does it motivate me.
Thanks for putting some sweet games at FTJ Mitch!

Update on L&G...announced locally today. Probably a thread out there here too..
Lanes & Games in Cambridge has removed all pinballs, in preparation for their eventual closure due to sale of property, namely the bowling alley and the surrounding land.
This is a sad day.
These games were kept in impeccable playing condition, like from a high volume arcade in 1981.
And they rotated the new games, and others, in and out regularly.
Brought back memories...
Thank you WeenerMan-
I only hope the guy who takes over does half as well-

This would be really cool and not that far away for me. Interested in hearing more when you have it.
Separately, I'm going to try going to Pinball Wizard Arcade sometime next week. I really hope they work out their lease issue and stick around, but another thread on pinside suggests that is not going to happen.

Ya ill try. I dont want to keep pestering the guy who told me. I bought a pin off of him and he told me a little about it. Pay by hour with a vip room for rare games. Dont hold me to it as i dont know it what he says will happen but he did say early spring and he is in the process of a liquor license. Really awesome dude i hope it works out for him.

glad to see another League session at Pinball Wizard Arcade
Quoted from Frogman:Sarah at PWA told me point-blank that she's not renewing the lease or interested in moving. It didn't sound like it was as much of a lease issue as she has decided to get out of the business.
That's really too bad. I was there last week. Great place!

That really is a massive bummer. I was hoping it would all come together at the deadline and she could stay open. But realistically that takes a ton of time to run. Long hours, so I can see how she would want to take a break. Just a huge loss for the local pinball scene.
Quoted from Nokoro:That's really too bad. I was there last week. Great place!
I find this depressing as heck. I understand her viewpoint. When last I spoke to her, the whole thing sounded like it centered on greed and stupidity (not hers), which is really too bad. I wouldn't want to deal, either Do we know the closing date? This place, incredibly, became part of my kids' childhood and I need to get up there before the end.

Agreed - great place. I just started bringing my kids there about a year ago. I believe it's closing in March.
I really counted on PWA as a place to try some of the newer games (especially before I buy), while also having plenty of older ones to chose from. With that and Lanes & Games gone, the options are more limited. I still need to try Flat Top Johnny's. Canobie Lake is a lot better than it used to be, but it is far away and you have to pay park admission. I hope the rumors about a large place opening in Plymouth are true. That is bit closer to me.
When PWA closes, it will create a need for more pinball.... This will be an opportunity for new operators to enter the scene. Who knows what will pop up in the future....
Just in case anyone missed it there is now a new england fs/ft thread
