I bought this game more than 20 years ago and have never removed the upholstery around the cabinet and head. I peeled back one corner to see if the original paint was in good shape. It looks scratched up a bit but not terrible. Still, someone really took time to do a makeover on this game. The only drawback is that it muffles the bells quite a bit. That, and it looks like it belongs in a 1970s lounge next to the velvet Elvis painting. Anyone ever seen anything like it?

    Apollo upholstery.

They could be siblings at a bad motel lounge.

Playfield and backglass look nice...maybe the cabinet isn't so bad throughout the entire game.

I have peeled back one corner to take a look at the cabinet. There are enough scratches just on that corner to make me think a disaster might await underneath. It's a great game in great shape otherwise. I'm inclined to leave it the way it is as a novelty. I've just never see another one like it until Novaguy posted his photos. I agree with pinsanity that it's a more enterprising solution than slapping on a coat of whatever latex paint is available. But for the trouble someone took to do this, it must have been cheaper to repaint to the original specs.
