Quoted from flynnibus:One has to acknowledge that Mom's .50c pricing is an anomaly and not to be expected elsewhere.
Reinforcing the case for people to go to Mom's in College Park.
1. Lots of great pinball machines in good condition.
2. Games cost half the price of other places.
3. College Park happens to be located closer to many people.
I've only been to Mom's 3 or 4 times, but had a wonderful time every trip.
I also enjoy Spinners in Frederick. Different atmosphere and a wide variety of pinball machines. I enjoyed some of the newer Sterns they had the last time I was there, plus had a great time on Pinbot, Jackbot, Paragon, Gottlieb Rock, and Black Hole.
Flippers is my favorite, then Mom's, then Spinners. I easily spend half of my time in the back room with all of the older machines. Play the old ones for an hour and then into the front room to play the modern ones. Back and forth. The hours pass so quickly. Two weeks ago I was there and had the entire pinball rooms to myself for 2 hours. An amazing collection of fantastic pinball machines. I can't recommend Flippers enough.
Quoted from Ecw0930:I'm so glad you got to stop! I can remember as a family actually smirking and laughing at a gas station named Flippers that said it was an arcade. For 10+ years we never stopped.
Once I got into pinball (when covid started) you start looking for places. So glad Flippers is there. The owner is a super nice, down to earth guy that knows how to take care of his machines and loves to do it.
It's a bit of a money/tourist trap for the kids but the new arcade games are pretty cool! I highly recommend the Rabbit VR ride!
Flippers is the best! I was just there last Friday evening. I was surprised about the switch to tokens. I was only there for about an hour and a half and went through $5 of tokens. I am addicted to his Flash Gordon and Beatles machines. Half of the back room was open at the time of my visit. I also spent some time playing Fathom and his pretty cool Solid State version of King of Diamonds. I played Xenon and wanted to get into it, but gave up on it after two games. Flippers is seriously one of my favorite places on this planet. If you are a pinball enthusiast, you need to go to Flippers and support what is going on there.
The pinball disappearing from Mom's is depressing. I hope the machines resurface soon someplace nearby.
