I have Sega Mary Shelley's Frankenstein pinball.
Dot matrix display stopped working where to start?
Reset the connections to the dmd. Sometimes wiggling the connections while machines on will lead you to guilty connector.
I'll try, but it happened all of a sudden, I smelled burnt.
How do I check the voltage?
Some one can a upload image with an explanation?
There is a different cable available that was a fix for DMD problems. I would start with that. Mine came from Marco. It is a simple install, and might solve your problem. It even comes with the original install instructions from Sega. Even if you fix the problem with resetting the connectors, you should get this replacement cable (unless your machine already has it).
Smelling something burnt is never a good thing. .. pretty sure on franky there is a 5 volt and a 12 volt. I don't have the manual in front of me.
check the plugs. there is a service bulletin about using a better 5 volt connection. You can find the cable at pinballlife.com If you dont have a digital multi meter (DMM) i would suggest finding some videos on youtube about checking DC and AC voltage.
