Hello!

Still working on some of the issues for Mars Trek, one thing that is puzzling me is that the game has 2 switches that scores 5,000 points (one rollover and one kick out hole), any of those switches are scoring the said points, I checked the 5000 relay and this is activated when the switch is hit but still not scoring. Any clues?

As usual, any help will be greatly appreciated!

Does the game score 1000 point OK? It might be worth checking switch 1c on the 5000 point relay and switch D on the score motor index cam (see photo attachments). I count 5 items on the playfield that will activate the 5000 relay including the upper kickout hole, the star rollover in the upper left side of the playfield, the roll under gate on the horseshoe and the two in-lanes to the flippers. Check all 5 of these switches to make sure they are adjusted properly and the wires are attached.

Thanks for your reply! I checked every switch you mentioned on the playfield and everytime any of these switches are triggered the 5000 point relay is powered and the score motor spins but not point are awarded at the score reels; yes, I can score 1000 points by hitting each letter at the left or by hitting the lit pop bumper without problem.

Did you check for broken wires on the switches?

Did you check the score motor switch on D on the index cam of the score motor?

Did you check switch 1C on the 5000 point relay?

Did you check for broken wires on the switches?

Yes, checked them individually for cold solder, these are firmly attached.

Quoted from bonzo71:

Did you check the score motor switch on D on the index cam of the score motor?

Yes, it does score 1000 point on contact.

Quoted from bonzo71:

Did you check switch 1C on the 5000 point relay?

Yes, I even bridged the contacts manually, no 5k scoring, score motor spins (same behavior when any 5k point switch is trigered.

Does this affect all 4 players?

Yes, same behavior to all 4.

There has to be a broken wire going from the 5000 relay to the 1000 relay. Trying doing a test jumper wire from 1C on the 5000 one at a time to the 1000 relay.

Are any of you able to pm a schematic my way. I'd like to follow along and learn. Maybe contribute if possible

I won't be surprised that the wire is broken... ironically the 1000 pt (medium) chime didn't work. I found out that somewhere the cable was broken between the chime's coil and the 1000pt. relay, run a new line and now the coil sings..

So... should I do the same? run a wire from the 1C at the 5000 relay to 1C at the 1000 pt. relay?

Thanks!

Check your wire colors; one of the wires from 1C on the 5000 should go to one of the 1000 coil lugs. That section of the schematic on IPDB is wiped out.

OK.. I have the machine in front of me... I going to plug an alligator wire on 1C on the 5000 and then try on each of the 1000 switch... I'll report back!

Success! Connected 1C at the 5000 relay to 1C at the 1000 pt. relay with an alligator clip and voila! 5000 points are now scored. I just need now to run a new wire.

I even streamed the game afterwards to check the rest of the machine:

Thank to all of you for your valuable input!
