I'm having an issue with Mars God of War where it won't reset the drop target bank located in the middle of the playfield. The upper right one works fine.

When I do the solenoid test it does not fire. Actually nothing fires for solenoid 5 or 8 so i figure it's one of those. The other may be the knocker as I don't hear that firing either.

I don't have the manual so not sure which transistor drives that solenoid. I checked the driver board and replaced one mps045 and one of the 2n3055 that were bad. Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.

The solenoid works if I manually fire it and resets the bank.

Also on my switch test it is telling me switch 54 is open. Anyone know what that switch is?

If someone has the manual and can clue me in on the above, I'd be most thankful.

You will need to get the schematic for the board to find out which transistor drives the drop targets.

Sounds like one of your transistors is "bad" even though it is not reading "bad".

Please keep us updated if you find the cause of your problem.

Good luck!

Switch 54 is the "Spin Target".

Here's the switched solenoid schematic from the manual:

If you ground the case of the 2n3055 does the solenoid fire? That will check the wiring, connectors, coil and power to the solenoid.

Thanks Woz...when i ground the 3055 it does power the solenoid so it means something upstream isn't triggering it. Thanks for that shortcut!

It looks like Q61 is the transistor feeding it and checking it carefully I show that it is bad. I'm thinking I missed checking it when I did the others or was in too much of a hurry.

Now I just have to wait for a new transistor to arrive and verify all works.

Thanks again for your help!

This should help you trace the path from Q61 on the driver board back to the CPU.
