Had a very enjoyable evening last night in NYC. Met up with K-Diddy for drinks and then over to his crib to play Magic Girl. K Man is a generous host and makes a pretty mean Manhattan. Brenda didn't show but one girl in the room was plenty. Bubba presided as expected.
Magic Girl is...is...far more developed than I anticipated. There's a lot of there there, even if it isn't fully integrated. Oh, what might have been. It's gorgeous and it flips fine. Nothing special is going on in the game mech wise, because some things are obviously missing and the magnets aren't wired up. But the game shoots and flows better than expected. It has music and call outs and an LCD with cool visuals and a nice blinky light show.
It's not the abject mess a lot of people hoped it would be, but it still needs a lot of work to be a real game with any kind of potential. Kind of amazing it exists at all, all things considered. Did I mention that it's visually stunning?
Kudos to K-Pop for having the nads to get one and open the box. And to give me a few plays. He'll be keeping the plays to a minimum until he has some insight into replacement parts and playfields. I can't say I blame him.
