Do not confuse maximizing profits with some altruistic view that they are trying to exclude flippers from the market. Stern cares about their bottom line. They don't care about flippers or the second-hand market.

I think it's basically a fancy node board with a screen, so the short answer is no.
I think of it this way: Do you want a topper for your pinball, or do you want a complete fully-capable gaming PC with a high end graphics card?
I ate a room temp 100 grand bar the other day, it was TOUGH! Still delicious though. I can't imagine ever wanting a refrigerated one.
