I'm not an expert, but this sounds like an issue our operator went through with an Avengers they purchased. Every once in awhile the flippers would go do, the play field dark for about a second. The cause was a shorted lamp socket that was causing a node board reset. At least that's what I was told.
Since it's new, you might want to give Stern a call.
