I finally figured out where the mandalorian copied it’s music from ! It’s the old HBO theme.

I remember the old HBO theme very well and I consider it a big stretch to say it was ripped off. I can hear some maybe 2-3 seconds of similarity, beyond that though, nothing. And considering how much new music now seems to constantly rip full sections of older music, I wouldn't even give this a second thought.

BTW all that logo work was done with practical effects, there was a great documentary about it I saw years ago.

I would love to see that! always thought that was just animated
Has a hint of the sound for a brief moment but I definitely don’t think it’s a rip off or copy.
That HBO lead in with the miniature model was awesome back in the day for its time.
That BTS video was super cool! I had forgotten about the whole town, and only really remembered the big HBO in space. Looking at it now, you can pretty much tell it's a model with the camera programmed to move around it, but it still looks great!
They also did a nice job with the intro to Tales from the Crypt in a similar way with the model landscape. Someone owns the crypt keeper mansion model. I missed the sale date when it happened.
