A near-CQ Viking just sold nearby for ~$3200. I am jealous of the restorer, AND the buyer. What a sight to behold it was.

Quoted from Whysnow:What is a blown out (worn to wood in the center) and in need of all fresh rubber and mechs cleaned up Viking worth.
I know of one that has been sitting unplayed in a basement for years and the friends parents are looking to sell.
Are decent old pfs available?
I have not seen the boards but should assume battery damage?
thoughts are appreciated
Same as most any early SS pin -- as close to free as possible.
Assume you are rebuilding 2-3 boards, a few displays, saving for a BG and PF, stencils, etc, etc, etc.
Anything over $500? is too much risk to bear...
My goal would be to put a solid player together for ($800-900) max, regardless of wear (as long as it's flat, with steady smooth power and good displays, and functioning to spec). Only way to accomplish that is to get in REALLY low.
As you might figure, you'll invest $250-$500 to get a solid player out of it.

Quoted from Whysnow:Thanks for the reply. They want $600, which I told them is about double what I feel comfortable with.
I'd do $600 if I knew 100% it was a lifetime keeper. WIthout that certainty, I'd future proof for a sale down the line. $300.

VIDEO ALERT
There aren't any good Viking videos on the interwebs. You can be the first to really show off how great this game is. Can a few of you please enjoy playing your game a few times, and video a nice example of a good game for us?
thanks,
mof
What is YOUR strategy for this game?
I'm babysitting one for a week, and have yet to wrap my head around this deep rule set.

Most every time I hit 3rd inline it's a center drain. Guess I'll need to remove the tilt bob and start side nudging the hell out of this thing when the ball exits.

I'm not getting 60-80 spins like I typically do on a Williams game (when ripping by hand)
The best rip I can pull off is 20-30. And it might be counting ~50% of the revolutions.
This will take some looking into...

What's the consensus on the A/B lane plastics? Should there be plastic guide flaps down both sides, or should they be one-sided favoring the lane to leave more rubber action near the saucer?

Nice red remaining on your cab!
Looks like we have the same blue-faded apron -- makes me wonder what the original apron colors were.
Quoted from John_In_WI:restore
Either that, or I'm going full red and blue viking, haha
