Anyone install the 7volution displays in your Viking?

I got a set several weeks ago and they wouldn't work, stopped my game from booting. Worked with Brett from xpin, and we got the game to then boot but then the displays weren't working. He has just been busy with life I'm sure, nothing against the company but I was really hoping to have the game fixed by this weekend so I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with the displays and if so have you found a solution? Thank you. -Tommy

#154 6 years ago

I am running them in all spots. Are you running some 7volution and some original? That could be the problem.

Nope got the full set. He said he changed the board design and there was at least one other person with a Viking having the same issue as me so was just hoping maybe that person has gotten the resolution. I’m sure he will get to me eventually.

I would buy a brand new whole mech from PBLife. better and more reliable TBT.

What's the consensus on the A/B lane plastics? Should there be plastic guide flaps down both sides, or should they be one-sided favoring the lane to leave more rubber action near the saucer?

Mine has plastic one side only on the lane.
Bought it that way.

Just finished cleaning this one up.
Replaced all plastics/rubbers/bulbs/drop targets/etc
I thought red flippers would work well but the game is kind of dark so I'll probably go back to white.
Fire LEDs look good in the pops and the two fires in the backglass though.

looks nice. If you want a set of new spinner decals, just say the word.

I made up some extras when I did my restoration.

That's a nice offer. Maybe he will give you the nod.

Looks nice, are your flippers misaligned or just a weird photo angle ?

#172 5 years ago

Misaligned.
Didn't tighten them down yet since I'm not sure I like the look as much as I thought I would.

I finally joined this club recently and am very thrilled!
The funny thing was I always thought I wanted Mata Hari, but when I actually aquired one I realized quickly that it was Viking i reeally wanted.
I will post some photos soon.

Just a question, all the GI (but not the lamps for Tilt, game over etc) is out in the backbox. All fuses seem good, does anyone know which connector on the lamp driver card goes out to the backbox GI? I would think its a connector issue or something.. or any idea?

I am fixing up a machine that has a missing inlane/outlane ball gate. Does anyone know what the closest available replacement would be? Or perhaps at least it’s dimensions?

#175 4 years ago

Cheers! Sin e i bought viking, ive never gotten to look closer at an issue: there is no GI in the backglass. All fuses are working etc. No connectors seems disconnected.

Any tips on where to start troubleshooting? Is it a probable point of error causing it?

I struggle to find what connector is for the backbox GI, anyone knows?

#178 4 years ago

has anyone done a lower playfield overlay for wear spots? kind of like the one that is floating around for silverball mania. I have a local one at a decent price but has some pretty major wear in the lower center playfield.

They come from the rectifier board connector J3. Pin 1 (thick green wire), pin 2 (thick white wire), pin 10 (thick orange wire) and pin 11 (thick red wire).

This game is freaking amazing.

Only thing I can't figure out... what does the siren sound signify? Same one from Space Invaders. Doesn't seem to coincide with any timers / inserts on the playfield, although I haven't gone through to fix all the sockets yet.

The standup target just to the right of the inline drops blinks for 50.000. A kinda hurryup. No idea what triggers it though.

#182 4 years ago

Not long ago an above average Viking was listed
for $2200. I think it lasted three days. No evidence it fetched that amount but one would think he probably got his asking price or close to it.
I consider mine to be in better condition.
Must admit got me seeing dollar signs.

Anybody using a 7 digit ROM for these? Want to get Pinitech Unos in red for this thing, not interested in the 7volution.

#184 4 years ago

Viking is one of my favorite 1 ball games. I have a mint one.

#185 4 years ago

This is a hard to come by title and it keeps going up in price.

I restored one about 10 years ago. Full restore and never looked back. Still have it and still love it. Game set up is critical. 1 hit for the returns and 2nd hit tilts. The set up is absolute must. I have had so many top players in the world compliment my game and set up because it's so dang fun and challenging.

So, working on a Viking that has a combination of broken Bally logo, generic red opaque and missing lane guides. Considering red translucent to replace them all with no plans for LED's. Anyone tried this and if so, did you keep it that way?

#190 4 years ago

I'm not even sure what half that means. Can you clarify?

I think he's referring to the fact that it looks so good, if not brand new. So...
"What did you do for the spinner?"

Yeah, that's what I meant. Mine is really dinged up and I couldn't find a repro.

It is a new sticker. I will look where it came from.

I think it came from me? I printed up a bunch of these in high quality a few years back and sent them out to almost anyone that needed them at that time. I likely have a few sheets somewhere stashed away. Just don’t know where right now.
