The quality is jaw dropping. That Guile coloring is bang on to the 90's theme! +1
I like checking in on all this progress. Well done!!!
Quoted from Tuxedomask23:Wow this is awesome work! I may need to find or get my street fighter back from thehuemanatee hahaha!
I noticed there's a SF2 for sale here in Edmonton (not mine). You may be able to get that one
If not....you are always welcome to come play mine if you are in my neck of the woods
Quoted from smitherssp:You'd specifically be looking for this guy:

I spoke with rappelbox regarding the possibility of a USA group buy. Stay tuned...
Thanks
I assume a USA group buy includes Canucks as well?? (Here's hoping)
Quoted from smitherssp:Group Buy Update: 6 people confirmed. Paypal payment is due to rappelbox no later than July 12th. He will ship on July 14th directly to you.
Cost: $180 + $20 Shipping
PP address: [email protected]
Cheers!
I wish the Canadian dollar was stronger....oh well
Will send my payment shortly Rappelbox
Quoted from smitherssp:Thanks for the clarification! I've made the executive decision to follow this path. This will reduce complexity and furthermore I damn well know that each and every one of us want to play with our new toy immediately vs waiting for the process to complete post-delivery.
I agree with @Smitherssp. I don't mind waiting an extra day or two.
edit: money sent $$
Quoted from lucky1:Here is a video of Malenko´s work on my vpin
» YouTube video
I'm so excited for this!! Thanks to Malenko and everyone involved!!
I hope people who plan on using this donate some coin to Malenko for all his hard work!!
Quoted from smitherssp:He plans to ship around the 19th assuming each buyer quickly participates in the unlock process.
Cheers!
Smithers
I'm just waiting for the go ahead.....
Quoted from Rappelbox:To be precise about that registration/unlocking thing:
I can not make that donation for you!
But once you ordered your set
1. I would send you your personal serial number
2. you donate to lucky1 containing that particular serial and once you receive your unlocking key
3. send that to me.
4. I would then unlock it so that you only have to install the dmd in your pinballs.
For those of us who made payment, is there any update on getting our personal serial number so we can send it to @lucky1?
Thanks
Quoted from Rappelbox:seems like i need a dedicated thread for the next group buy?!
There will be one within the next 2-3 weeks but before i have to finish this one and the other orders i have... The sega panels gathered a huge amount since I revealed they can do 16 colors with pin2dmd-xl
Any idea on a shipping date Dom?
Quoted from smitherssp:Anyone here like German porn?
I was also sent a pic of a lot of shipping labels. Stay tuned for details.
Quoted from smitherssp:How do you say "SHIP IT" in German? Tracking info/links should be on it's way later today.
I checked my email and I just got my shipping information from @rappelboxl!!!
Now the waiting game for it arrive from Europe
Quoted from smitherssp:Mine just hit the States!
That was quick!! Unfortunately I can't track my shipment
Damn you Canada Post!!!
Quoted from smitherssp:Google the tracking number and select Canada post. I got the same message from Deutsche post. You need to track it via your countries mail service site.
Thanks Smithers! I wasn't aware of that.
Is there an installation guide that comes with this?
All this talk about voltage and adaptors has me quite perplexed.
Quoted from smitherssp:Did you watch the video I linked to?
Yes I did....this stuff just isn't my area of expertise, that's all. I can solder and do the technical work, I just dont understand some of the language
Ill just wait for the DMD to arrive before I over analyze the installation part.
Ok....just to specify this in the most layman's terms possible....because I am bound to somehow screw this up.
In this picture, I'm pointing at two chords
The circled (in red) chord becomes obsolete when I'm installing my new DMD correct?
The other chord will be plugged into my new DMD correct?
Quoted from cocomonkeh:Blew my flasher fuse trying to install mine so I guess I'm going to dig out a power supply to try.
Uh oh..thats what im worried I'll do.
I managed to find an old laptop adapter....was wondering if anyone could tell me if this will work for the DMD.
Then all I gotta do is connect the cord into the power bar under the playfield
That parcel looks like it was handled by United Airlines baggage handlers. :S
I'm nervous about mine arriving
Quoted from ScottyC:I'm in the same boat. Arrived in the city yesterday, but yet still not out for delivery.... Can't wait to get rid of the ColorDMD Sigma and get a display that actually works on a Gottlieb
What kind of power supply are you using?
Quoted from freddy:so that slow thinking thing is TRUE!
Maybe my mailman got a flat tire??
Quoted from cocomonkeh:Well it wasn't a flasher fuse it was a diode. So if anyone knows the strength of the backbox fisher diode, let me know
Tried powering it from the old dmd harness (12v) and it doesn't want to light up. I don't think it's getting enough voltage so I'll have to try the outside power supply option until I fix my flashers
And that's why I'm hesitant to grab the power through the flashers.
Once my pin2dmd arrives I'll be getting a power supply at my local electronics shop. I can't chance it
I'm going to need to lengthen the red and black wires from the DMD so they can reach my power source.
Any recommendations or suggestions on what to get/use to get that done?
Quoted from TimBoch:I stopped by my local Ace Hardware and got 8 feet of red and 8 feet of black 16 gauge wire. Put a male end on one end and a U connector on the other. Seems to be working just fine.
Much appreciated!
Just to confirm....because....I'm an idiot
1- install dmd in place
2 - run red and black wires from dmd into the Lower cabinet under the playfield
3 - solder together female connectors to the additonal 16 gage red and black wire. (To reach power source)
4 - solder together U connectors to the additional 16 gage red and black wire ( so it can be soldered to power source)
5 - connect females with dmd's corresponding black and red wire
6 - solder U connectors to power source (red) and to ground (black)
7 - solder outlet cable to power source
8- plug in and play
The only question(s) I have is....
Does this power source looks right? (PSF100-12 model)
And where do I solder the red wire (dmd power) and black (ground) into the power source? (V, V+ or the other one)
Thanks so much and hopefully I'm done pestering everyone after the installation
Quoted from Malenko:3 prong plug to power supply :
black to AC-L
white to AC-N
green to ground (between AC and the -V)
pi2dmd:
black wire of pin2dmd to -V
red wire of pin2dmd to +V
No soldering needed, you cut the tabs off and just crimp a QC aka a spade terminal. You wouldn't solder anything to the power supply, they are screw terminals.
You da man @malenko!! Thanks so much for everything!!
Quoted from smitherssp:Friendly reminder folks to please tip Malenko for his work. He put in over 190 hours into this colorization! I just kicked him some well deserved cash via PayPal.
http://paypal.me/Malenk0
This cannot be reiterated enough
Got it installed and working.
Do I set enhance mode on or off?
I dont seem to be getting any color when Vegas claws for the bonus
White connector becomes obsolete. You don't need to plug it into the new dmd
The gray ribbon goes into where you pointed in blue
Ok....a few things I've noticed.
1- Vera's claw seems to be regularly colorized now.
2- My multi-ball and torpedo mode are colorized white on the DMD.....but when I get a jackpot....it sometimes turn to red and then stays that way. (50/50 chance of that it seems)
3- When I killed Guile and Blanka, their old animations played with the crappy grey coloring. (Only happened once, then it reverted to the Malenko colorized animations.......which are gorgeous by the way)
Just wondering if I'm the only one experiencing some of these issues....or if others are as well?
Or maybe I did something wrong during the install?
Quoted from psychopat:I was looking at the wiring diagram and the white plug that is now obsolete actually had 12v on it. I took my fluke to double check things, it did indeed have 12.15v on the red, white and black cable. Then I hooked myself on the green (ground cables) at the bottom left of the head and managed to find the white cable has continuity with it, so it's a ground.
I used both tap-on connectors on those 2 cables.
When launching the game I get a green line in the middle (for a fraction of a second) then it dissapear and it stays black. Does the same every time, any idea?
I double checked the ground and voltage connections and both are good, tested the continuity with the tap-on connectors too and its fine.
Hopefully I do not need a new DMD.
You should of just tapped the flashers or gotten a power supply.
I wouldn't be trying an unproven install method and risk breaking something. If you read the pages on this thread you should be able to put all of this together really....
I'm the least knowledgeable about tools or being handy in general or knowing anything about electronics and whatnot....but I managed to get this done.
Work smart, not hard
Quoted from psychopat:It appears like Malenko already put the key on the SD card. I configured the display in the setting device to Gottlieb 3. I still see the pin2dmd when booting and nothing happens. What are the steps you had to do after powering up the display?
Configure it to gottlieb v2. Then save it.
Quoted from ImNotNorm:Ok....a few things I've noticed.

Disregard all of this. I unplugged the dmd and plugged it back in. Seems to have fixed all of the issues and the old animations have disappeared. And I assume the multi-ball and toperdo were purposely colorized white until you hit a jackpot and then purposely turn red?
Quoted from TimBoch:Hopefully these pictures are worth a thousand words.
Since the dmd already had male ends, in crimped female ends to my black and red wire extensions. I then crimped U connectors to the other ends and connected them as shown.
Hope this helps.
What's up with the bacon soda? I've been meanng to ask.
Quoted from psychopat:Looks like its saving now, the display is in color and show VIRTUAL PINBALL when booting, then it goes to Gottlieb v2 and turns black and white. See image
I wonder if it wasnt properly unlocked or something. I cant get pass this.
That happened to me at the start.
Reconfigure again and save and then exit
Quoted from psychopat:I used a brand new SD card, added the key on there (nothing else). I was able to boot and save the device as Gottlieb V2, this time it relaunched in color properly.
I then copied all the other files from the original SD card, except the pin2dmd.dat and .key I already had on there working OK.When I reset the display, it then goes back to black and white. So this seems to be some kind of software issues, when adding the new palettes and files it messes things up.
Are any of the original files available somewhere? I could tried recopying all the latest version over to see if it fixes it.
EDIT: I got the files from the first post. I copied those on the new SD card that had the fresh .key and .dat files. It's showing as Gottlieb V2 in color still now. However it doesnt go another past that screen. Does anything needs to be done to start the game?
EDIT 2: nvm, I forgot to also copy the pin2dmd.fsq and pin2dmd.pal in the root. I tried both the ones from the REAL SFII Pinball folder and from the source files and both make the display in black and white again at the Gottlieb V2 screen. Looks like I am running out of luck tonight.
When you boot up the machine you'll see the pin2dmd in color. Hold down the menu button immediately and it'll then allow you to configure. (You must do this before in turns to black and white...otherwise it won't work)
I am absolutely loving this colorization. Malenko single handedly upped the value of all Street Fighter II pins.
Three cheers for @malenko!!!
Anyone getting a random old animation (in black and white) from time to time?
Seems to happen to me once a game. Could it be that the files need to be re-installed on the micro SD card?
Quoted from Malenko:So do a recording of the animation that isnt triggering for you and send it to malenko at gmail dot com I'll add the recording to my source and check the keyframes. very rarely I'll get E Honda in grey scale but Ive triggered that animation in every recording I have and it still happens on occasion.
The odd part is that it doesn't happen every game and it isn't consistent. Sometimes it's E.Honda...other times it's Ryu/Blanka/Dhalsim.
The last recording I posted in this thread.....E.Honda was the first kill and it triggered the grey scale animation.
I'm not trying to complain or anything....it's something I can easily live with. I was just mostly wondering if this was only happening to me.
Ok....after having my pin2dmd installed for a few months, I'm noticing that I periodically get an old animations in grey scale. It eventually happens to all the characters except Sagat and Zangief (they always appear in color)
I even reseated all the connections and power source. My rom is A-094 and is up to date.
Any suggestions? Should I try re-downloading the files & reinstalling them on the mini SD card?
Thanks!!
Quoted from lucky1:That means that a trigger keyframe is missing in the project and it needs to be added. Maybe Malenko can check.
I verified with a friend who also colorized his SF2 Z& he is having the same issues. So everyone must be getting the same result...
Quoted from lucky1:That means that a trigger keyframe is missing in the project and it needs to be added. Maybe Malenko can check.
Is this something that can be easily rectified Malenko ?
Quoted from Malenko:yeah if you can provide a recording/dump I can check for additional triggers. I very rarely get the odd crummy old animation, but Ive done a ton of recordings and the keyframes are always the same.
How do I do a recording/dump?
Quoted from Malenko:plug in the USB cable, open pin2dmd.exe and pick check the box to record. it'll spit out a file, just compress it and send it to me.
OK, I'll see what I can do this week
Quoted from ImNotNorm:OK, I'll see what I can do this week
I tried a few USB cables and they don't seem to work. Spent the better part of an hour trying to get it to work. Also....my laptop also just kicked the bucket yesterday....so I think I'll just give up.
I was hoping to get it perfect before YEGPIN in May of 2018. I wanted to show off a recently shopped and fully colorized Street Fighter II at the show
Quoted from lucky1:A common failure is the usage of the wrong usb port. You have to use the micro USB not the Mini USB for pin2dmd.exe.
I used the micro USB (little white entry)
Anyways....disregard
Quoted from sc0ttf:I personally don't have one, however my local pinball retailer does, could I get a copy of the files please and I'll pay them a visit?
Is 9FEF an old version? And is A094 still the latest?
Thanks,
Scott
Quoted from latenite04:I don't know if A094 is newer or if there was some rom difference for US vs exported machines but A094 sounds familiar from my machine and Pin2DMD is working. I'll dig the files out and send you a message.
Quoted from ImNotNorm:My checksum is showing A-094 after powerup (I believe that's the most up to date)
